Yeah I think if it were post-abomination you would actually be attempting to romance a really damaged person... someone who needs help, not romance, you know? Taking this a bit further, DA2 Cullen would have been an interesting romance (or even companion/friend) because he is still working through some of his rage but it's like there's something in there nipping at his brain, telling him that he may be on the wrong path. A friend or lover could have steered him along that right path, although eventually of course he does get there on his own. I think what makes the DAI romance so special is that it's a romance with an older person, someone who has experience in life, is a bit wary but also has more self-confidence than a young 20-something  |

Yeah Cullen appealed to me more in DAI probably because I am a woman in my 30's irl. I still wanted to romance him as my Amell because he just seemed like he deserved happiness and I was hoping Hawke could flirt with him lol but DAI made the wait worth it!

True, though in his defense, Cullen was going through some serious withdrawal symptoms and he was staring at the cause of his mother of all migraines and shakiness and aches- Holy Andraste, he was being put through Lyrium PMS! Oh yeah it startled me but I kept my Inquisitor by his side through it and was very much rewarded in Trespasser! LOL yeah as a woman I can relate but he also reminds me of a coffee addict switching to decaff lol NEVER do that! You'll wish you were dead! I also really liked how Cass said that mages always make their issues known, but Templars suffered in silence. It gave us a whole new POV on what they go through and sometimes I think their suffering is what leads them to lashing out at mages. By romancing Cullen I saw a side to him that you could see tiny bits of in the previous games but nothing ever really let him show his true potential. I'm glad in DAI if we romance him we got to see him grow into this wonderful Commander who has fought and overcome his demons and got his happily ever after he deserved. Templars definitely are like a military organization, right down to the drug usage to stay in top performance. I recall an ex I dated who told me how he and his buddies would snort coffee grounds when they woke up just to snap awake. There was also my sister in law who mentioned how her unit had to resort to speed or some other illegal drug just to make sure things got done on time. Every time I walked through the courtyard in Skyhold, I kept looking at the updgrades and thinking, "they REALLY need a hot spring and a sauna." Think about it; it's said that spending three days in a row sweating out the nicotine helps people stop smoking. What about lyrium addiction? |

Carry on. Yeah Cullen appealed to me more in DAI probably because I am a woman in my 30's irl. All of this.....I'm almost 30 and Cullen just seemed like the right fit, as a dude in his late 30's I thought he needed lovin' badly. |

Sure thing, I'll post it all here. Once I come up with something to actually write about. Easier said than done, that... If you want suggestions, I'd really like a story when we hear what's going on....the Inquisitor out with her team in different parts of the world, and Cullen and her writing back and forth. Also, his awkwardness and fighting his feelings for her as a templar....always makes for good lightheartedness and angst. I'm writing a book as well. Not fan fiction, just fiction, it's more difficult than I thought! I have 7 chapters but dang, that writer's block.... That's a good and interesting idea, I might end up actually using it. I already got some ideas out of it, so thanks! Yeah, I know the struggle. Writing original fiction is so so difficult I sometimes want to tear the hair out of my head because of the plot points and writer's blocks and whatnot At least in fanfiction we already have the characters and the world at our disposal, which makes it a lot easier process. Still tho, writer's block. My mortal enemy. |

I'll spare you that full fury of out-of-control behemoth, but this little drabble works well enough as a stand-alone (it actually started that way, until I decided to integrate it after the fact). The only context you really need is that Olivia might have over-stated her chess-playing prowess, and previously asked Dorian to teach her. Now everything I can come up with looks like it was written by a five-year-old in comparison I'm probably going to use this awkward Cullen letter-writing idea as an excuse to start a new mage!Trevelyan playthrough, I can play and have adventures and then write her to write to Cullen about everything she has to face out there. Yeah. That's what I'm gonna do, I always have such weird stuff happening when I play, they'll make great letters If that made any sense. I got excited.  |

Fenassan; thank you! It's 100000% true what they say: we are our own worst critics. I'm always shocked and alarmed when someone tells me they like something I've written, because I can never look at it without grimacing and seeing all the things I could/should have done better. I look forward to seeing what you come up with! I love the letter-writing format as well. It's a little more interesting than straight up dialogue, but you can still play around with the characters in full voice without having to worry so about scene setting or superfluous description. You get to bite right into the meat of the matter, while also keeping things in a nice, accessible little morsel for readers. Everyone wins!
