Just finished a re-run of my Cullen loving human mage, she loves his bumbling nervous but occasionally bold self.

Just finished a re-run of my Cullen loving human mage, she loves his bumbling nervous but occasionally bold self. Cullen was my first playthrough with a mage Trevellyan..... my favorite romance. Is there anything cuter than a bumbling, bashful, sword weilding handsome beau?

Did anyone get an impression of unspoken romantic tension between him and the Inquisitor even if you don't romance him? No? Just me?

I've actually only ever finished one playthrough before because I fell too hard for my Inquisitor, and Solas... yeah... 'nough said. FINALLY I feel bold enough to complete another playthrough and I was originally intent on Cullen, but then Blackwall started making oogly eyes at me and IB was being IB. If it's only my second romance should I go Cullen for sure? Is it just super duper amazing? Would it help me get over the complete and utter destruction of my heart in my first PT?

I think they are all good. You get too see all their intricacies in a more *ahem* private setting. It depends on what you are looking for. Steamy? Romantic? Shadowy past? Cerebral? They are all very nice flavors.

Lol On one hand, it's lovely angst and I like the idea that feelings don't exist in a vacuum because they don't need the player to unlock emotions. On the other, I feel terrible that the poor guy is going through another unrequited love. That's brutal, to have feelings that you're not certain are returned.

Cullen is an excellent change of pace if you're coming out of an emotional wringer. He's that guy who'll give your Quizzie the sweetness she deserves, the tenderness without having to pay some emotional price for loving him. *ahem* I mean so long as he's off the lyrium...

My bad, I was thinking about what I heard in that he'll confess feelings while trapped by demons. Really, REALLY should play Origins before jumping too far on an opinion.

I mentioned it elsewhere, but for the longest time I had a hard time going through with the Cullen romance because my twisted little mind kept telling me that My unromanced mage Amell was still out there doing the calling thing and dammit she and Cullen belong together. I can only play Cullen as LI in a world state where Amell doesn't appear. *hangs head in shame*

I remember watching that first meeting on the livestream before the game was released, I think it was Cameron and someone else...? Mike? Anyway half the viewers were cooing over Cullen's apparent once over and half were wondering just what he saw in that fugly femquisitor the guys were playing (rofl)

I had always wanted to romance Cullen in DAO (and Jowan). I liked how we could tease him a bit and flirt, but once we returned to the tower I knew it was never meant to be. I was very happy when I got to experience an actual romance with him in DAI. It wasn't perfect and the wrong choices could doom it, but that made it all the more natural.
I am curious about one thing though. Would a romanced Cullen in DAO have been different from a romanced Cullen in DAI? It's been 10 years and we all change, and I think it would have been another Alistair-type romance if it had happened.

If you work on the idea of a romance forming post Harrowing but pre abominations, then I think we'd have a very similar nervous blushing sweet Alistair type romance with a huge helping of forbidden lustiness. Post abomination or post game (and this is the one that appeals to me to be honest) I think we'd get a darker story. There is bitterness and resentment to get over on his side. Maybe something along the lines of the Fenris romance in DA2? My headcannon for my Amell has her also less than thrilled about the events of DAO and to a certain extent suffering from PTSD. Its a nice idea to headcannon them growing back to mental health together, via a screwed up love story.

Fluffy and cute is fun but when you get into the darker stuff, it becomes more real. Every time he talks of regretting his last time seeing my Amell I always wish they would meet again. Seeing his aggressive side in DAI actually took me back a bit. Especially when he flings the box and punches the wall. He may have been angry in DAO and DA2 but this time he was actually acting out on it and not holding it in.

True, though in his defense, Cullen was going through some serious withdrawal symptoms and he was staring at the cause of his mother of all migraines and shakiness and aches- Holy Andraste, he was being put through Lyrium PMS!

True, though in his defense, Cullen was going through some serious withdrawal symptoms and he was staring at the cause of his mother of all migraines and shakiness and aches- Holy Andraste, he was being put through Lyrium PMS! Oh yeah it startled me but I kept my Inquisitor by his side through it and was very much rewarded in Trespasser! LOL yeah as a woman I can relate but he also reminds me of a coffee addict switching to decaff lol NEVER do that! You'll wish you were dead! I also really liked how Cass said that mages always make their issues known, but Templars suffered in silence. It gave us a whole new POV on what they go through and sometimes I think their suffering is what leads them to lashing out at mages. By romancing Cullen I saw a side to him that you could see tiny bits of in the previous games but nothing ever really let him show his true potential. I'm glad in DAI if we romance him we got to see him grow into this wonderful Commander who has fought and overcome his demons and got his happily ever after he deserved.
