I love Zevran and Dorian as characters, except Sebastian who can go to hell and rot there's no a single one character I hate when it comes to companions/squadmates from Bioware. But I totally despise their romances and tropes. And like Arty said, Zevran is the embodiment of a depraved bisexual, he can betray you if you dont have enough friendship, he is an assassin who doesnt feel any remorse (until the Warden somewhat redeem him), he's promiscuous and of course he prefers women. Those are facts, not my opinion.

I'm bitter as fuck when I look back and see how the lawful good Knight is again straight because I dont fucking know, the good boys (see this as archetype) are always straight and that is a freaking wrong message to queer people... Why knights or warriors are straight-coded is beyond me. We were THIS NEAR to get him, but again another bi character with his queer content cut. That's why Jaal is so important and I hope Bioware have learnt their lesson.

And yes Catilina , the amount of fetishization in Dorian's character as the gay pet for some female players is disgusting.

edit. I dont know how this discussion is off-topic when it's totally related to cut gay content like Cullen's, how knights are always straight like Cullen and how Bioware always give us the same tropes instead of Cullen-like characters. It's not off-topic.

I'm not the one who is taking things personal, I'm talking about Cullen's character, how I would loved for him to be a gay option and his cut gay content. It is topic-related and I will continue talking about this. If you have problems with this, you have a cute button right there called "Block member"   but I would prefer for you to check your privileges and have more empathy for gay players that can not romance him tbh.

I really like Dorian, but he doesn't match my sexual orientation. Do you see me creating giant angsty posts about how I think everyone hates me and tramples my human rights just because he's made gay? If I want to romance him, I simply create male character.

If you want to romance Cullen you can just make female character or if it bothers you that much just use a mod. What's the point of self-inserting yourself and your problems into any remotely related topic.

lol never ceases to amaze me how some straight people think that straight representation is as important as LGBTQ representation. Well, big news, straight representation doesnt exist because it's the default state of things, so yeah, forgive me for not feeling sympathy for thos entitled straight girls who wanted Dorian when they had FOUR options to choose.

Also, some people roleplay, some people self-insert, some people can do one thing and not the other or can do both. And you should ask to trans people what is like to roleplay a gender that is not their own (gender dysphoria) so yeah, dunno why you feel so entitle to think that it's easy to roleplay a female character (which personally I dont have problems to do), but it's not the point, we are talking about representation and repetition of tropes that Bioware does. 

Again, check your privileges.

Kinda doesn't matter now. It's years after release. Get yer mod and move on with life. I'm salty about Reyes being gated behind the required action of murder but I moved on just fine.

Cullen inspires a lot of artists, there is some really good art out there.

I think it does matter because BioWare still hadn't learned its lesson with MEA when "the gay in the hold" and the deviant bisexual were still the only options for gay male player character. 

And also it's really hard for some players to come here and talk about Cullen and see how happy other players are because they got to romance him "officially" without a mod, meaning, DA4 will acknowledge their romance. Trust me, I am not a gay person, but even I feel the sting of knowing that my Solas or Cullen romance aren't "real" so to speak. But yet I love Cullen? So I came back here after years of being away to talk about him. 

Now imagine being a gay or bi man who always, always, always gets shafted in these games. It doesn't hurt to continue discussing it, and I think all Cullen fans should band together and agree that BioWare can do better... because everyone deserves someone like Cully-Wully

It would be cool to have a mod that made him more scruffy and with slightly shadowed eyes when he's going through lyrium withdrawal.

True, it is nice that BioWare caters to straight women.

But think about being a gay man. No company -- NONE -- caters to you.

I imagine that is really hurtful and probably reflects that person's overall experience of being marginalized constantly. 

I won't play the Witcher because I can't identify with a straight male character AND the way that particular character is presented, and the way women are represented in the game... it is disgusting to me, and yes, I will criticize the developers for making a game that objectifies women so much. I don't think that's a bad thing; I don't get personal with them and say like "Oh that developer is so ugly or fat" or anything LOL But criticism is fair. "We demand better!" is never a bad thing to argue for

Now look, we finally got a great, amazing RPG in HZD which I cannot WAIT to play! So in that case developers should be praised.

Now I await an RPG that has a gay or bi character

And as for me? I do not believe it will ever happen, but to have a genderfluid or asexual main character would probably make me cry with joy. I love the asari as it is because I really identify with those gals. I've always wanted to play as an asari but alas...
