ArcadiaGrey My first romance was Iron Bull as well. I really enjoyed it a lot because it was surprisingly more deep than I thought it was going to be. However, I have to say that out of the two, Cullen nudges ahead as a favorite (and I totally thought he wouldn't be my favorite at all). I think it's his endearing stumbling and awkwardness that I love so much. He's so sweet and earnest that I find I can't help but enjoy him as a character (and thus as a romance). I'm glad to hear you gave it a try though. Some people I know romance one and only one person; I always feel like they miss so much of the game when they so that. I know full well your comment was not meant to be offensive so please do not take what I write as such.
Each DA game I choose/create my own character and the companion I wish to romance. I may over the course of each game tweak my character's look and the romance dialogue choices. Once I've achieved the satisfaction from both areas being where I want it to be, well, I am done. I have no desire to play another character nor romance someone else with my main character or for that matter with any other character.
It may seem boring to play the same character over and over but I for one am never bored with repetition. Perhaps it is do to the fact I've played numerous MMOS and the guilds are always begging their members for different classes- thus the never ending cycle of creating alts. One game/guild got so bad I actually had to purchase a second account just to keep up. But I digress.
Then there is the other-side: not every romance is suitable for my main character or hell they might just plain annoy me. Alistair was my MC romance in DA1, Anders in DA2 and Cullen in DAI. I found the rest of the romances options in DAI to be sub-par in my interest. And of course Blackwall being the worse (his romance seriously creeps me out).
If I want to see what the other romances are like, I'll head to YouTube. Which I've done and I can say I did not miss out on anything that made me scream, "I want to have my character experience that!"
Its easy to say people who to not take advantage of the other romance options are the ones missing out on game content. But those of us who have no desire to romance anyone else cannot care about said missing content if we never desired it to begin with. And that is your prerogative. *shrug* We just play games differently. I like to experience everything I can out of a game, so I tend to do many playthroughs to see the differences. That still doesn't change the fact that I think people miss out.

Does Cullen break off the relationship if you have him stay on Lyrium just until Cory is done? Or only when you say he should be on it forever?

As I mentioned in the other thread, I've never been able to do it myself, but, my understanding is that he will only end the relationship if you tell him to stay on it unconditionally. I recall watching a YouTube video of the sexytime scene where his "worse without the lyrium" line RE: his nightmares was adjusted to along the lines of "Better, with the lyrium." It would seem that he will concede to take the stuff for the sake of the Inquisition, as long as the Inquisitor promises to allow/help him find a way to break the chains for good once he's no longer required.

You can't break up with Solas once locked in until post-Temple of Mythal, at which point you will have missed most of the Cullen content. How far along are you with Solas? Have you had the balcony talk yet? If so, I think you are stuck with him unless you reload an earlier save. I have just started the game so I am OK. I was hoping to break Solas's heart and then find my one true love... Cully Wully. I did read somewhere that you cant romance Cullen if you flirt with anyone else so didnt want to start anything until I knew the score. Flirt with both. Get to skyhold. Flirt with Cullen one more time so he'll move to the office. Then ignore him while you romance Solas. This works better for the Templar quest line because I think you have to talk to Cullen about Samson to get that quest. When you get to the Waterfall, break it off with Solas, and go to Cullen. You'll get a ton of scenes one after the other. It may even be confusing, as he may talk about something that is way in the past, but whatever. But you don't get feedback in the game about folks you broke up with, so Solas , and everyone else, will act like the Solas thing never happened. It'd be all in your head that you broke his heart. And I don't think he's the type to pine over the relationship if Levellan ended it anyway. So, Lavellan would be smug and Solas wouldn't care.

Does Cullen break off the relationship if you have him stay on Lyrium just until Cory is done? Or only when you say he should be on it forever? Depends on your choice.
See, there are two turning points in the relationship for those who choose to keep Cullen off lyrium and three for those who choose to keep him on lyrium.
After choosing to keep Cullen on lyrium, you'll get another cut scene. IF you do not want Cullen to break off the relationship, be sure to choose, "We will find another way." Choosing this option will allow the relationship to continue. Once Cory is defeated and some where in-between those three years passing before the Exalted Council Cullen will once again stop taking lyrium.
Hope this helps!

Thirded! It's incredibly off-putting, and once again I'm relieved other people got the same impression. Not only is it just generally odd to see your own character like that but not the romance option, like SpiritVanguard said, the Blackwall one specifically is just... wrong. Thankfully, I've only heard/read descriptions, but I really don't understand it. He basically uses your for sex, leaves you naked in a barn and goes to kill himself. Whataniceguy... And people like the romance, for reasons I just cannot fathom. Sorry, those people, but I just can't. The others might not be for me, but that one is just creepy Anyway, if it wasn't Bioware's intention to make the player feel weirded out by that, I don't know what the point was. The target demographic won't be looking to see a woman, better yet their own character, naked. It's just bizarre! So yeah, it certainly does "feel cheap and gross, like some dirty tissue lying on the ground." And Cass's does sound gratuitous, so that's the silver lining of not being able to romance her anyway, I guess Also, hello Cantina , glad to see another familiar face name/avatar find their way over here! Haha, well, I did like his romance so I wouldn't quite describe it that way, but that scene was a big turn-off and felt all kinds of wrong. I really don't understand it or what they were thinking. Who was that even for? It was completely gratuitous. And, yeah, mHawke does wear pants. Even odder when femHawke wears bikini style underwear. You don't have to romance anyone to see it, though. If you unequip their "armor" you can see their unders. ...ahaha. (An aside: after sleeping with Fenris I left the mansion to go questing and Hawke is standing there on the companion screen topless in his sweatpants. I actually had to re-equip his outfit because the game didn't automatically. Same thing happened with Cassandra's romance. After sexy time I went to Adamant and there was my Inq in his "beige pajamas" and not his armor in the cut-scene. )

There, there. I'm much the same, I think. It's one of the things I'm happy about with Cullen's romance too (and Solas, who doesn't even have a sex scene. I hear Josephine doesn't either, but I haven't gotten to her yet). Aside from finding sex/nudity in games so incredibly awkward that I laugh out loud at the screen like an idiot (nope, can't take them seriously), I don't need it in my video games. And pixel boobs. It gets weirder when you see your own character naked but not the one you're pursuing. (See Blackwall romance. ) I did Bull with a male, though, so there's nothing much to see in that case.
DA2 is still my favorite approach for how BioWare did their love scenes. A little feisty something and then fade away...fade back in and fluff (or not) happens. There's a bit of that underwears thing going on (and mHawke wears full pants for underwear? Wut?) but that doesn't bother me either. The there there emoticon is spreading! Muhahaha And thanks. Glad to see I'm not the only one, and I completely agree. Male Hawke's underwear is full pants? Haha, wow. I never romanced anyone in DA2, so I had no idea! Amen! I honestly found that romance to be completely terrible in general, but the sex scene was just... nopenopenope. Seeing my Inquisitor like that just felt really cheap and gross, like some dirty used tissue lying on the ground. Blegh. Cassandra's ta-tas filling half my screen when I tried her romance wasn't much better, to be honest. Just seemed gratuitous. Thirded! It's incredibly off-putting, and once again I'm relieved other people got the same impression. See and I actually wished the scenes were steamier, longer and there were more of them. I had no problem with the nudity, I just wish there was more man body showing. Dorian's bum shot was nice, I would've liked all the guys to have a scene like that.

Unless someone was undressing my Inquisitor with their eyes, and Cole decided to oblige? XD

But I can certainly say that I'll never romance Bull or Sera, because they're basically the exact opposites of what I enjoy, and because sex and nudity make me uncomfortable, most of the time Yes, you can make fun of me now. Another reason I liked Cullen's romance; the sex scene was perfect. Sensuality, fade-to-black, wake up next morning with Clever Camera-angles™. Yes, you can make fun of me again

Her writer wanted to have the romance focus on the romantic part of the relationship, so left the sexual part of it ambiguous so all sides could see them having the kind of relationship they wanted them to have. She is even accepting of the players seeing Josephine as abisexual or demibisexual. Just one of the reasons she is my favorite romance in the Dragon Age franchise.

XD Can't say I know for sure, but it might automatically un-equip armor after getting to Skyhold... because reasons. I think I've had that happen, but I always end up doing Solas' dream-trip when I first get to Skyhold which also shows my Inq out of armor, and I might have to equip it again. Maybe the game just wants our Inqs to run around in their casuals. ;D

That happened to me too in Cass' romance! All systems go to Adamant - cutscene starts and there's Marcus storming the gates in his beige PJs. Heheh....whoopsie. He was pretty nonchalant about it though.....

^ Beige pjs before wardrobe? I did that once in my Rift Mage Demetria's run (romanced Bull btw). But that was on purpose, because she fought the Greater Minstral dragon in Emerald Graves. She's crazy, but that was fun ;P

Yes, that game was before the wardrobe was a thing and I wasn't using a PJ mod for some reason.

OK, Cullenites. I need your help here. So I was watching a video about funny moments from DAI when I was waiting for the DMV (because I, -a smart person, forgot to bring actual work to do and was bored out of my mind) and I watched this video. (Linked.) It had a lot of scenes with Cullen in there that I didn't see in my Romance with him - like the one with him laughing out loud or apparently naked and embarrassed in the tavern and everyone was laughing at him??? Like, why didn't I see this? Can anyone help me? Thanks

Go back and talk to him after, and he'll invite you to the tavern for a game of Wicked Grace with everyone. Unlike chess, Cullen is...not so good at it.

Cullen`s laughing happens if it`s Varric that tells a story and not the inquisitor during the Wicked Grace. See it around 6:11:
