Ryder must Remain!

I think I might prefer someone new. Ryder is just so... bland.

It depends not only where but when the next game takes place. I personally would like to see a generation pass or so which gives the inititative time to grow and establish a real infrastructure in Helius before the next game. Doing so though would mean the next game should have a different protagonist as Ryder would be in their 50s or so.

I've relatively neutral about this at the moment. The way I see it there are a lot of pro's and cons to bringing Ryder back.

On the one hand I quite like Ryder and would be happy to continue their story, but on the other hand I don't see how they would handle the crew. Having an ME2-style plot device to force the crew apart and give us a mostly new one would come across as cheap and contrived. But bringing everybody back would mean very little room for new characters.

If it was a new protagonist they could also try letting us play different species in single player. Given how Andromeda as a setting would work a lot better with playable aliens than the trilogy it's a great opportunity.

We could also potentially get a time skip to a few years down the line when the initiative is a decade or so established, allowing them to do more with the setting. But then there are a lot of hanging plot threads in Ryders story that would be left unaddressed.

I think it will depend on what DLC we get. Maybe I'll feel that Ryders story is complete, or maybe it will open up an entirely new story and we'll meet new characters who I'll long to become full-fledged squadmates for Ryder in a sequel.
