What fantastic fantasy finalizing frantic fortuitous frivolously furiously fought frescoes filthily forewarned yet stolen. I couldn't help but laugh especially because I was trying to imagine Fozzy saying that.😂

People getting up in arms about a few swear words when you're killing hundreds of living sentients and creatures during gameplay. I mowed down over 2,000+ in a single playthrough. The achievement you get for doing it is literally called The Terminator. Whenever I hear people whining about curse words hurting their sensitive dispositions, after they've spent hours exploding the skulls of their foes, I'm reminded why swear words exist as a form of expression. Ok, I don't really care about the swear words used in the game one way or the other, they don't bother me, but can we stop exaggerating? No one is getting "up in arms", no one is "whining", and no one's "sensitive disposition" is getting hurt. I highly doubt the OP was upset or "up in arms" upon writing this post and his complaint was about how he thinks the amount of swearing shows how bad the writing is. Simply his opinion. It seems like, anytime someone has an issue this game the general response is to blow that person's issue way out of proportion and say "Stop complaining!" in one way or another. *sighs in relief*

I did feel like some of the swearing in Andromeda was forced. But that's only a distant complaint -- a much bigger one is how almost all the characters use contemporary American/Canadian lingo circa 2015... centuries into the future. What's the alternative? We don't have access to the real slang from centuries hence, and wouldn't understand it if we heard it. There are two alternatives. One, don't use contemporary slang that has a high chance of being cringeable in a few years. Some slang becomes a part of everyday vocabulary. Most doesn't. It's also not necessary to use slang to communicate at all. I realize some people do. Many don't. Two, if you must have slang, invent it for the setting. The show Firefly -- which ME:A is clearly inspired by, in part -- does this reasonably well. It's not even difficult to pull off. Turns out people are quite good at figuring out what idioms mean when repeatedly used in context.

I don't hear much profanity while playing. (My current Ryder is Level 96.) Is this more an issue for the "consistently casual" conversationalists? I frequently choose Professional and Intellectual (or whatever it's called) responses, and I rarely hear any profanity. The f-words I heard were each noteworthy for being exceptional, and being pretty appropriate to their contexts.

I also avoided the one in the Moshae mission because it seemed kind of out of place for the character I was imagining. It was fitting, I thought, in the option I chose for the endgame speech just before the final assault on Meridian, cuz like, Ryder's been through it a bit:

I found that it wasn't delivered convincingly, for me. I'll definitely choose a different option this next time.

I'm Commander Fucking Shepard, and this is my favorite fucking thread on the fucking Citadel. In all seriousness, though, I do agree with the OP's opinion that swearing in this game was poorly handled; however, the issue isn't the number of swear words. I personally thought that the game could have used A LOT more swearing, to say nothing of the original trilogy, where you were facing total galactic genocide AND NO ONE FUCKING SWORE. The problem is that in Andromeda, it feels like the writers added "fuck" and "shit" to dialogue to hide the fact that most of the lines were filler. No creativity whatsoever in regards to how the characters swore, either. I would have killed for just one "danglebag" or "toelicker" or the ability to imply that Spender had impure thoughts about adhi. But no, just throw out another "fuck" or "shit" like they're candy, but do it randomly, like you keep forgetting that you're supposed to be handing out candy in the first place.

Some of the writing is pretty awful. Have you read some of the mail you get? Or some of the documents on the terminals. One of them from a doctor I think or some kind of professional used the word skeevy. It was referring to something they studied. Might have been the archon brain exam or something at the end of the game, whatever it was reading this doctor use that word 'skeevy' in their professional document was so jarring to me. In a discussion, a more casual one, a professional might use a word like that but within the context of their job, reporting findings in any kind of documentation? Even if it is more casual, they would not speak like that. There are so many things like this where they are trying to relate to the player I think and it feels so out of place. The swears are just another instance of this. In some cases it feels like it fits. In others, it is just jarring.
