I feel like Bioware's leaning more toward the Long Journey Ahead with MEA. They kept taking about how Shepard's story was over and how Ryder was nothing like Shep. Shep was a hero even before the trilogy began, and Ryder is basically the underdog, fumbling around to set down roots in a whole new galaxy. Usually, underdogs have a long way to go before they're recognized as heroes.
I don't care either way, as long as the games filled with enough content to leave me satisfied. *cough* fetch quests don't count *cough*

I hope they'll go the one game one hero route from now on. Sure, if they could manage imports properly both for the narrative and for character looks then I would be all for a continuous story, but if ME3 is anything to go by they'd f*** it up.

One of the biggest problems of the original trilogy was Shepard's relationship to companions and other characters. In ME2 when he meets some of the old companions they all treat him like he's their dearest friend. Well, what if Shepard was complete jerk to them or just in general didn't like them or only had a strictly professional relationship with them? ME2 doesn't react to this at all and in so doing completely invalidates player choice. Player didn't have nearly enough say over Shepards relationships, opinions and personality in general. |

My Shepard doesn't care about them after learning nothing was done about finding a way to stop the reapers. Or that the Alliance made no effort to confirm Shepard's death. What's funny, is if Garrus isn't recruited in ME1, he will say just like old times during his recruitment mission. Its too bad Shepard couldn't ask him what these old times are he's talking about. |

I'd prefer One Game One Hero. This way I can still hope I'll get to have a non-human protag.
