I've seen a fair amount of negative feedback on single player - mostly centered around the story and dialogue being lame (I haven't looked in detail to avoid spoilers); I know the facial animations were a mess but I understand biovar has patched this. I assume the combat is good, as I haven't seen many complaints about it. OTOH a lot of people seem to like MP; while it's not as good as ME3MP and there is a lot of synch kill BS, it's overall fun and people are still working out new combos and strategies. Plus a lot of hardcore MPers who I know from ME3 are playing Nightman OneWomanArmy SalMasRac cryosferon (and many others) so playing with the pros would be a bonus for me. I'm going to play SP through at least once if I buy it, but I'm sure MP will be where I spend most of my time. So is MP enough fun and does it offer enough long-term playability to justify throwing money at EA for the game?

The sp is a trashcan and the mp is even worse. However, many people love the sp and many people think the mp is fantastic, so it's all down to your own taste and preference. You may find it very enjoyable, or you may hate it. Only one way to find out.

Hmmm tbh I'm not sure mp is enough in its current state for you to buy it, at least not in my opinion. If you have any interest in playing the sp at some point, then yes but otherwise I'd say wait until they fix the flaws if they do. Edit: And hi Saikyo!! Nice to see you here btw

I would say wait unless you have absolutely nothing else in your catalogue to play. This time of the year is also a great opportunity to catch up on games you own, intend to play at some point, but haven't got around to yet. If I were you, I would wait for updates that will hopefully fix the SP and MP up. If those updates are not good enough in your eyes, then you didn't lose any time or money which is a win-win for you.

Get the Origin Access subscription, it will give you ten hours of gameplay (which you can devide between SP and MP if you wish), that way you can get your own experiences at a very small cost.

Echoing what most have said, I wouldnt have gotten it just for the MP. I got it as a Mass Effect fan and the total product is overall lacking currently. There is fun to be had, sure, but temper your expectations certainly. Overall its a decent game, but far from the excellence BW was once capable of.

Sp is not that bad - i like it actually. Mp is failure - not even comparable with ME3MP. Not worth buying for MP

I figured MP was gonna take some time to refine and balance out before it was enjoyable and really playable, but so far we got like 1 patch lol.

SP is entertaining and fun, MP is entertaining and fun. How much, that completely depends on player preference. Can't let other people decide that for you. If you see people here writing that the game is complete s*** and that everyone agrees with them on that, remember that not that many players are to be found on uBSN. Most will never visit this board ever.

Combat in SP >>> combat in MP. Honestly, push through the initial stages of SP and once you start unlocking a decent amount of skills/profiles it becomes much more fun than MP. Powers and weapons deal good damage and custom kits/favourite swapping allows all sorts of creativity and customisation. Yes I've heard the levelling curve beyond 80 is broken and enemies continue to scale up to 132 becoming bullet sponges, but I'm still well below 80 and combat is definitely the highlight of the game so far. Hopefully they fix the levelling curve in the future and scale enemies properly or at least talented people may be able to mod it. Anyway MP is boring, come and play SP for the real fun.

Single player is great. Honestly there's a lot of salt from EA lingering that is still well deserved in my opinion.
Just don't get bogged down in side quests. The good news is the meaningless fetch quests are pretty apparent off the bat, so feel free to ignore them. There's some lingering DA:I going on, but if you don't get bogged down in these, it's a fresh, enjoyable experience!
MP: I'm tryin' Ringo. I'm tryin' reaaaaal hard. To be the Shepard.
I'd like to think it'll get better. It's still fun though for the most part. At least for me

No, it's not worth it.
If you buy the game buy it for the SP. Which is an average open world game that you can have some fun with. Just don't expect it to be like real Mass Effect. MP, however, is a failed abortion of a game.
Do note: the game is extremely resource hungry, considerably GPU. Surprisingly, it's not very CPU bound like most games in the last decade, Frostbite engine has little to no bottleneck with CPUs both in DA:I and in MEA as well, but they can really squeeze your GPU, which is actually a good thing. But the bad thing is, that even todays "good" GPUs can barely run it. An optimal chip for this game would be something closer to a GTX 1080.
It also takes 9.5GB of RAM for running it, as for the GPU, at least a GTX 10x generation or GTX 970,980 or RX 480 equivalent to run somewhat smoothly. These are the minimum spec GPUs I would recommend for playing. And it will still occasionally stutter but you will get an average of 60 fps with a 970. MP, inside of your ship, crowded areas and bigger fights stutter a lot for me on my 970. SSD installation mandatory as well, but it doesn't help much. The game is just poorly optimised. They're patching it, 1.05 improved it a little bit for me, but it's still bad.
If you don't have a rig at least as good as this don't bother buying, as the game performance is terrible. Takes a beast of a machine to run it properly. If you do, try it out, but you're not missing on much. SP can be fun but to each to his own. MP is crap however, and it suffers even more from bad performance. Have fun sniping with the bad hitreg and all that stutter.
Even with all the crap I'm giving it, I still play it daily, but that's my honest opinion. It doesn't have to be perfect for me to play it, and there's my friends playing it and a community both here on BSN and Discord that I'm engaged with, and I'm excited to see what happens in the future with MEAMP regarding balance and new content, so I'm staying here and playing even though I'm giving it a terrible review, but that's just honestly how it is. Most of us share this opinion, but still play it regardless.

As has been said many times in these forums, the objective truth is that the game is garbage, but there are a few of us, who, for various subjective reasons, actually like the game ;-) !
I'm in the 'like the game' category, but even I don't think it's worth buying for the MP alone. So unless you think you're going to get something out of the SP, there are better ways to spend your money.

Basic summary of the multiplayer:
-Most guns suck on higher difficulties besides about 5 of them -Most powers suck on higher difficulties and a lot of classes have copy and paste powers -The grind is massive: 250 common cards, 260 uncommon, 270 rares and 190 ultra rare upgrades to unlock. -Only 5 maps at the moment (there are 2 more we just can't play them) -Characters need to be leveled individually and xp per match has been more than halved.
It isn't all bad, it's fun but just very repetitive and gets old fast when you're using about 5 or 6 weapons all the time.

I wouldn't. I expected better and I wasn't going to buy it until much later, but a few of my friends were fiending for some MEMP and I loved ME3MP. Didn't think it would be this boring. I won't buy any more of their games after this either. I thought DAMP was a fluke. Now I know it wasn't. I can't even force myself to play AMP.

I've seen a fair amount of negative feedback on single player - mostly centered around the story and dialogue being lame (I haven't looked in detail to avoid spoilers); While the story isn't the greatest ever, I don't find the writing or the dialogue to be all that big of issues with the single player. Sure you can say some of the plot points seem like retreads, and it is true in many cases your dialogue choices don't matter and are essentially the same. But the bigger ones are really the half baked profile and favorites system to work around controller mapping, gutting of squadmate control, and just in general uneven balance for powers and weapons. Then you have the just flat out bizarre design decision for enemies to scale with level for basically eternity when the player has no tangible benefits after level 80. Favorites and profiles don't even matter for MP, but the uneven balance is there. I don't regret my purchase necessarily, but in a lot of ways this game is a step forward and two steps back.

I say get it. But get it used if you can so filthy BioWareEA don't profit. MP will last you awhile before you lose interest. Then when that happens you can switch over to sp and find out that while story, dialog, voice acting, suspense of disbelief, etc, etc, are all terrible... exploring new planets is actually pretty fun. I'm really enjoying exploring.
Going back and forth between sp and mp based on the feels is also a pretty good feeling in helping keep both fresh. I really like this chemistry.
And when all else fails in getting any enjoyment out of MEA, you can join in on the fun in these forums that is called; BioWareEA bashing. And reap in on the likes you're about to receive.
