It said it had 4 colors, but all I ever saw was fuschia, teal, and piss. What was the 4th color?
Then I upgraded to EGA and got a whopping 16 colors, then soon realized that it was still just a blob of pixellated crap, and sat on the couch to play Sega Master System. In those days, consoles actually were better than PCs. I had the 3D goggles, shit would blow your mind today

I don't get the Logo stuff (memory loss or maybe I dodged this?) Logo wasn't really directly involved in gaming, but if you worked in computers or in game/software design someone somewhere insisted that you learn Logo (if you were from the right era.) It was... a learning tool, I guess. It was a combo graphic engine/programming language which was taught schools. I know that a lot of people who worked on Commodore 64 games learned Logo. I took it for two years, and I believe it was useful exactly once, on the test I passed at the end of the year.

Trying to create "Expanded Memory" in order to play Master of Magic (still one of the best games I've played)
You haven't been trolled by a game until you've played Dungeons of Daggorath. If you swung your sword too quickly you died from a heart attack.

I had the 3D goggles, shit would blow your mind today Something like this? You sweet, innocent child. The Sega Master System 3D Goggles would work with specially designed 3D games. You know how if you look at an object, and alternately close your right eye, then your left eye, back and forth, you see slightly different perspectives of the object, causing it to "shift" left and right? The SMS 3D Goggles did this for you. Each frame blinded one eye, alternating back and forth, in conjunction with images on your television screen flickering back and forth. The "closer" towards the screen an object was, the greater the distance was between its two shifting images. This fooled your brain into believing that you were looking through your television screen into an actual world with real physical objects in them. And this was on an 8-bit console. Just give me that shit over an oculus rift any day. Space Harrier 3D was one of the best games ever made.

My first modem was a 9600kbps.
I remember when my parents shelled out five grand for a 100mhz Pentium computer, and it was THE SHIT. It ran Doom 2 super smooth, and all my friends were super jealous. I racked up several 100$+ AOL bills (it was pay per hour internet service for all you kiddies) in chatrooms with grills, downloading pr0n, pirated music and games.. ohh the memories. But before that computer.. was DOS, lots of DOS.. then Windows 3.1 which I hated and stuck to DOS. Hell.. I even remember 5.25 floppy discs.. and when 3.25 discs were a big leap forward lol. We had a dot matrix printer that operated at like 95 decibels.. it was loud as fuck.
..and yeah, consoles were way better than PC games back in the day. Even Atari 2600 was better.. 8 bit Nintendo blew it out of the water.

Finally a place where us old farts can reminiscence. Good times, good time. Playing X-Wing and TIE fighter with a mouse, because too poor to own a joystick (mouse was more precise anywho). The grandfather of all RTS - Dune 2 "The building of a Dynasty". The disks we had were always prone to fungus, and the drive heads also had to be cleaned with the special cleaner disks and some solution of sorts. Trying to hook up modem play was a pain in the ass. Someone else in the house would always pick up the phone "Don't pick up the phooonnneee"and like megabeast37215 said, phone bills went up to the roof with mIRC, ICQ (stupid horn start up chime) chatting up grills and downloading MP3s

Kids these days will never experience the greatness that was the Original Fallout games, original Warcraft, all the Doom clones like Hexen, Descent, Duke Nukem, Quake, Unreal Tournament, etc. PC gaming was great back in the day.. and it probably is now, I just don't have the time to fuck with it. I'm about to have even less time since my wife is 7.5 months pregnant with twins.

I played chess from times immemoria online over dial-up and it was OK, some lag but everything worked quite well. IIRC, the first server was ICS/ICC probably starting from 1992 or 1993 and then FICS. They still work up until now, no problems. I have account at FICS and play there regularly. When things are time stamped, they are very reliable. The server uses the same code, only small expansions were required. And it has some very advanced features and very convenient interface options.
My first real multiplayer was Warcraft 2 starting from 1995. It actually worked surprisingly well through null-modem cables. I don't remember much lag or any other problems and the game is rather complex even by modern standards. It had a very good netcode, no crashes also. Then, I even played some on battle.net although it was a bit laggy.

I remember going online for the first time with my phones modem, we didn't have internet at home yet, something about it being too fancy for everyone to have just yet and I just gotten my very first mobile phone which was this Nokia fax phone thing, so I decided to use its connection to go online... lol.. joke was on me... I got this HUGE bill the month after for surfing half an hour And now I feel old, thank you guys..

You dumbass don't need it specifically, it's just there to see if you can solve some abstract, logic problems.
