I was watching a video recently talking about Mass Effect and basically how awful it was. The video went on to explain how in order to make changes to the way games are made consumers need to hit companies where it hurts (The wallet).
I think its time for Bioware to leave EA. The reason I say this is because when you look at companies like CDPR and Rockstar, they dont have parent companies. Bioware is full of tired, overworked and downright lazy designers, artists and programmers. I tried to convince myself that stuff didnt matter but yet again, I am facing a Dragon Age inquisition scenario where I am forced to admit that the game was less than stellar.
The thing I like about CDPR and Rockstar is they dont really have a time table and thats why they produce great games. It will be done when its done. We'll give you information when we give you information. They dont pander to fans they dont rush.
Bioware have some talented writers and staff but sadly, they keep handing us these half baked cakes and saying "ta-da!" And we keep eating them and giving a fake smile with a big "mmmmmm". They have to work to EA's schedule and its clearly not working. They make changes where there doesnt need to be any and at times just make bizzare choices. At one point during a plythrough of Andromeda I almost felt like I was in a scooby-doo scene.
I love Mass Effect and Dragon Age and I have been forced to take off my fanboy glasses and face the cold truth. It's ugly and it smells like a tramps wet sock.

That's like you telling the dollars in my pockets to leave. Will they do that? Nope, 'cos I own them dollars.

It will not happen. BioWare is the part of EA. Also, in the last 5 years so many IMPORTANT people left BioWare, so it's not the same company anymore. CDPR is still independent, there were rumors that EA wants to buy them, but they make so much money on W3 and they invested that money into new technologies and their future projects so I don't think it will happen in the nearest future.

What do you mean by pandering? Rockstar has been making basically the same game since GTA3, each getting better by building on what fans liked about the last one. They are so reluctant to change that formula that GTA 5 had 2 protagonists who were versions of previous games protagonists and 1 who was basically just a parody of a GTA player. Is that not pandering?

Well, it all depends if those "stupid" design choices were forced on them by EA or are their own fault. If Bioware had freedom of decision with Andromeda then it wouln't help at all to leave EA. Also I don't blame EA for any failures Andromeda had. After almost 5 years of development time there comes a point where you just have to publish the game in order for it be profitable. You can't just keep on giving them money over years and years hoping someday they will deliver.

Yep, EA has a habit of buying out successful studios and then running them into the ground. I can't think of any successful studio they bought that got better under EA.

EA owns Bioware so Bioware can't leave. Also, people need to stop trying to completely absolve Bioware of any fault in how the game came out. Unless EA had outside people standing over the shoulders of Bioware employees making final design decisions, writing dialogue and story elements, or designing levels Bioware has to take their fair share of blame.

Unless you're a multi-billionaire that is NOT going to happen and if a multi-billionaire did buy BioWare from EA chances are EA would still hold on the rights to the Mass Effect and Dragon Age properties because of the multi-media deals that EA has done (anime movies, novels, comics, live action web-series, toys, etc) and wants more like a feature length live action Mass Effect movie. And if sales decline for BioWare games all EA will do is close BioWare down and then there will be no more Mass Effect and Dragon Age games.

Bioware makes Mass Effect 1. EA buys Bioware. Bioware makes Mass Effect 2. People who loved ME1 bitched about ME2 and how EA "ruined" the company by forcing them to make a GoW clone.
Fast forward several releases (and repeats of the above for each one) and people who think ME2 was the best game Bioware made are saying that its EA's fault that ME:A wasn't like ME2. (not saying the OP is one of these, but it's been said here and elsewhere)

Bioware is apart of EA and nothing can change that. EA has also merged other groups into Bioware. As well as alot of the people that were apart of the original team don't work there anymore.
Bioware is merely a name now for the RPG division of EA. It uses what goodwill Bioware had and what they created to get us to come back again and again.
Don't worry we will all buy the DLC and MEA 2 and 3....😆

As everyone has said EA owns BioWare, they bought them from the investment firm they used to fund the merger with Pandemic Studios years ago. Again as others have said a lot of the big names have left BioWare after the fans blamed them for content they didn't like and now wish they would return because "magically" when a person leaves BioWare they consider them a better developer then when they work there.
Games change and frankly saying that "EA ruins games" is not accurate they might have a different focus, but after following BioWare over the years they played it extremely safe when not part of EA so every game would have been like Assassin's Creed basically the same thing with a few changes. Instead of trying new things and attempting to try and make the people they can never please happy.

I didn't say they got magically unlimited funding. Only that they are a company that gets grants, can self-fund via GOG and still has crunch. This point was to counter the point the OP made about Rockstar & CDPR not rushing their projects out the door, if you need to do crunch you are rushing your product. Seriously chill out.

I think its time for Bioware to leave EA. The reason I say this is because when you look at companies like CDPR and Rockstar, they dont have parent companies. Rockstar is owned by Take-Two

This guy, right? Yong Yea?
