The problem with Bioware, is that they are way too focused on subverting stereotypes, the male gaze, and whatever other buzzword they've latched onto. So they create a butch looking female, but they want to avoid lesbian stereotypes so they make her straight, but not a lot of straight guys think she's hot, which works to "subvert the male gaze" blah blah two birds in one stone. But lesbians who think she's hot can't even have her. Whoever told Bioware it's a smart business plan to make the LIs not very appealing to the target audiences the LIs are made for is stupid. This paragraph says a lot about your viewpoint of the world to be honest. I'll take your reams of witcher musings with a pinch of salt.

*snort* The same goes for you comrade. Because I don't think Cora has been deliberately designed to look like a butch lesbian (whatever that is) to be unattractive to Bioware's apparent core user base? I'm perfectly fine if you take my view on that with a pinch of salt.

I think Cora looks fine….and built. The hair does look unfortunate though. I would've gone for the ME1 Ashley bun.

I'm perfectly fine if you take my view on that with a pinch of salt. Making female characters "unthreatening" was more or less confirmed as intentional for ME:A. Personally I don't have a problem with Cora's looks (even though she does look like a "butch"), but I find it easy to believe that there is an effort to "subvert" perceived "wrongs" in the name of "social justice".
Ok, I'll take you "serious" from now on.

"Mass Effect Andromeda and to a lesser extent Dragon Age Inquisition have you suffering through dry collections with little story content, or fighting through dozens of identical encounters." I don't disagree with this, but it's funny how they set this up as a contrast to Skyrim and FO4. You could plug those two games into this sentence and it would be just as true. How many times did I enter essentially the same cave, bandit fortress, or ruin to fight through some generic enemies on a Radiant quest with no compelling story attached? I don't know, because I lost count. After a while I just started running through those at a sprint, shooting fireballs in front of me so I could clear them off the map as quickly as possible. Bethesda games have been full of bugs and dull writing for years, the only difference is that people expect something different from BioWare. When you emulate a mediocre game, you get a mediocre game. Hopefully BioWare realizes that eventually. Eh, of course people expect something different from BioWare. There is open world and there is sandbox, and while open world can be sandbox, it must not. Skyrim/FO4 is open world and sandbox, it relies less on predesigned combat and actualy more on a mechanic that dynamicaly and automaticaly creates content, and this content is usualy of low quality: location/tasktype/enemytype/create lootchest... this is expected from games like Skyrim/FO4. But BioWare and their games... they were ALWAYS about predesigned content and it was GREAT. Sure the areas are small, streamlined, linear, there is just one direction to gut. But they put enemies in the areas by hand, creating more content around it... story, NPCs talking, you talking, squad talking. Now with DAI/MEA they added in a Skyrim/FO4 approach to dynamicaly create more content to fill their semi open worlds... and they are not realy good at it. Drive a little bit in MEA, find an enemy camp, clear it, drive back ~200m and when you hit the "magical mark" you will see a shuttle coming in to the enemy camp and drop another random encounter, and again, and again. This "feature" actualy destroys immersion in the highly content driven BW games. Maybe, one day, they will make it work, but right now, they do not. Remembering TES Arena, first Bethesda game to actualy feature this, they already got it right hte first time... So yes, we do expect this kind of stuff in TES/Fallout games and we do not in BW games. This Bethesda/BW game comparisons... pointless, its like apples to potatoes, sure both are vegetables (games), but thats about it.

So it's not a confirmation. It might as well be. Compare some of the MP characters to the female presets. Compare Scott default look to Sara's. The appearance of women is preaching idealogy? Wtf? It certainly can be. I mean, creatures like Sarkeesian make their money from ranting about female appearance in video games. Is she still relevant? Haven't heard anything about her in a year or so.

'A creature like'? Wtf's wrong with you man? She might have a different opinion than you, but she's still a human being. Also, you completely missed her point. It's not the appeance of women, but the portrayal of women that she has issues with. And quite franky, she has a point.

I don't have a problem with Cora to be honest I think she is better looking than Ashley. Also most gamers know Sarkeesian is a professional victim and not a gamer. Both genders get the same treatment regardless if it's Nathan Drake, Lora Coft, Scott Ryder or FemShepard they are good looking people most would probably fuck in a heartbeat.

And yeah, "creature" sums up Sarkeesian very well I think. That's a fitting description for a dishonest provocateur that cherry picks her "findings" and twists the truth to suit her purposes and doesn't understand the problem with having double standards. Her arguments were debunked so may times that it's a wonder anyone still takes her seriously outside of her own echo-chamber.
Anita "Everything is racist, everything is sexist" Sarkeesian, is a fanatic ideologue - the quintessential SJW, and I'm not at all surprised that you agree with her.
And I don't find it surprising you think what she says has been debunked, considering you don't take facts that serious. Making female characters "unthreatening" was more or less confirmed as intentional for ME:A. Personally I don't have a problem with Cora's looks (even though she does look like a "butch"), but I find it easy to believe that there is an effort to "subvert" perceived "wrongs" in the name of "social justice".

I wrote "more or less confirmed", I didn't say by devs. I think that you can tell quite a lot about design philosophy by seeing the results.
At best that is conjecture without any weight or significance. It's just your shitty opinion, which confirms nothing.

All one really needs is eyes. The Sara presets speak for themselves. The problem with Bioware, is that they are way too focused on subverting stereotypes, the male gaze, and whatever other buzzword they've latched onto. Hmm, I didn't particularly think Cora was a "lesbian stereotype" but I definitely wanted to give her butt hug. I'm not sure if I proved or disproved your point? And yeah we definitely need a Sara/Cora romance option.
