Inb4 an avalanche of everyone and their dog posting personal squadmate rankings. Because that had never been done before, then beaten to death, ressurected, abandoned, found, fought and argued about ad nauseam. Amirite?

I disagree a lot with that list, but it's not unexpected. I'm after all one of the very very few (or it feels like it) ME fans who never cared for Thane, or who rank Mordin well ahead of Garrus.

I'm guessing you'd rank Cora much higher as well?

I'm not sure where exactly I'd rank her. I'd have to give it some thought, but it would be higher than DLC characters that had limited content (Zaeed & Kasumi), Liam who I thought was the least interesting of ME:A's cast, and Vetra. I liked Vetra, I just think she's overrated by fans because she's Turian. If she was human but written exactly the same I don't think she'd be rounding out the top of most peoples' favorites' lists.

The only one I strongly disagree with is Liara, but I know she struck a chord with some FemShep fandom. I don't know how the perception changes there but I mostly found Liara cliched and boring by ME1, pretty nice in ME2 and then hella depressive and disappointing in ME3. The fact that her Shadow Broker status never came into play in the plot was a huge letdown. Probably becuase ME3 was the perfect place to jump into the series. I did my latest playthrough not playing the LotSB DLC and they keep refering to her as "information broker" instead as often as they can as if they were trying not to reference LotSB in the main plot because "oh no, what if fans hadn't seen it?"

They should've started their article with the big 'IMHO'.

Most likely. Garrus is and always will be my favourite, even if i got 3 games with any of the new ones it is hard to see them top him. I'll say that Garrus was a stick in the mud in the first game though, he was bland and uinteresting.

It really helps that most of these squaddies had 2 - 3 games to really flesh them out and for them to grow on ya.

I didn't care about him in ME1-2, but liked him in ME3. He's still not one of my favorite characters tho.

It's a pretty good list all in all. Obviously, there will be discrepancies for everyone.. No one will have the exact same order, but save for the bottom 3 or 4, the entire list is pretty much less about "this is the definitive order of who is better than who" and more about "this is why I like these characters" which is awesome. The Mass Effect franchise, in my opinion, has the strongest companions of any game series and I liked reading this list.

I don't have, and likely never will have, a straight numbered list of my favorite characters. It's pretty much there are a couple characters I don't really care for, a few characters I didn't find all that interesting and don't have strong opinion about, and a LOT of characters I really like.
