With you about industry insiders praising Anthem. However, I believe it received a rather lukewarm reception from everybody else.
And, it's everybody else that matters since they are the ones that either critique and/or buy the game. That MetaScore will be critical, imo.
Visiting the reddit page for the game, there seems to be a lot of enthusiasm, especially from Destiny fans. Their pitch to that market segment seems to be working. Indeed. The early demographic survey bears that out.   The Reddit thread commentary does point out that people who play multiple of those games, like Destiny AND ME, aren't reflected in the simple bar graphs. Also noteworthy is male/female ratio was 85/12. |

I anticipate similar marketing pace as in the recent ME:A. Which means Ergo, the "floodgate" of Anthem game news will start to open about six months prior to launch.
Now for the 64 dollar question. Will we get an Anthem "leak" from the "usual sources" any time now?
I'd say Anthems marketing is already better. They showed an actual gameplay demo years before it'll be out. Don't think Andromeda even had one till half a year from launch. I also expect Snthem will get a real appearance at next E3 where as Andromeda only had concept art. I'd say bioware is a lot more serious with Anthem than they were with Andromeda. |

It IS a brand new IP after all. It has to begin existing in people's minds earlier and more forcefully than yet another (even if brand new) installment of popular series. It helped that it was a huge standout at an E3 dominated by sequels. Let's just hope Bioware can stick the landing. Some news sources are reporting that we'll see more gameplay at Gamescom, but they all seem to be using one YouTuber who said it at the end of his Anthem video as a source and it isn't clear how he knows... |

Sartoz... you're looking for a problem where there isn't one and it shows. The presentation of Anthem (and other games) happened LITERALLY to showcase new Xbox One X/S 4K capability (and if someone chooses to buy it, the games presented on it are capable of 4K resolution). They can't "downgrade" anything for weaker consoles, because weaker consoles CAN'T support 4K and anybody who is even slightly interested in the topic should know that. That information is there to not give people who aren't an impression that all platforms will support 4K, because they won't and it's not the fault of the game, but the platform's. It is telling for me that they're being honest and don't want anyone to walk away misinformed, and you're spining it as dishonesty. |

Ignoring the fact that what EA/Bioware did was standard industry practice, if we take your complaint to its logical conclusion how exactly do you propose companies should market their games? People with 7 year old PCs by the time Anthem comes out are going to have to run it at 1280x720/low settings. To make sure nobody sees any marketing that might not be indicative of what their experience with the game will be, should Bioware only ever show gameplay with Anthem running at low settings at 720p? |

Complaint?... no. Observation... yes.
Your response implies that industry contract standard(s) (.. say insurance..) of including paragraphs using very small letters is acceptable. Thank goodness something is being done about it. In Ontario, Canada, the provincial gov passed a law that requires clear language in contracts.
Btw, industry practice does not equal best practice.... Pharmaceuticals being one of the worst offenders, imo.

Actually, apparently a similar survey of the Dragon Age subreddit showed that 45% of responders were female, 19% for Mass Effect. All of which are much better than the Destiny subreddit, for example, which has a 3% female ratio. |

The Dragon Age reddit did a similar demographic survey, and the split there is 46/49.5 M/F. So I think it has more to do with the game and genre than with Reddit itself. I wonder how much of that m/f percentage ratio is responsible for reception MEA got compared to anything DA-related... Or maybe I'm just unfair? And yeah, I'd still play it.... I think. It's hard to predict what exactly I'd be doing at fall 2018. I guess a lot of it depends just how much of the game would have to be played online or would be more enjoyable to play in co-op mode. I already have my online time sinks and it remains to be seen how much of such time sink Anthem will be. |

BSN must have started it's summer vacation. Lol, it's not like leads or creative director are dropping the project like a hot potato. Someone's decided to pursue something else. It happens. |

now, if they did a survey through the official Bio site, sure, I'd participate. bio's normal female audience is 25%+ in pretty much all of their games.
