Someone from the developer's team leaves the project and everyone here is cool and collected about it? No doom and gloom, no "end of the world" panic or a dozen "Anthem is in trouble" threads? BSN must have started it's summer vacation. Was it a big name? I haven't even noticed so I'd assume it's not someone higher up. Regardless though this game is being given the baby treatment with long development time and a delay so I'd say they're being careful. Plus I haven't heard various people leaving in succession like Andromeda went through. id personally say since it's the Anthem section rather than the mass effect section that it'll go more unnoticed. Much less drama here than over there.

I think it's the Andromeda community (what going on in reddit is pretty good exemplar) and Anthem doesn't seem to have attracted that crowd.

It is pretty funny, but tbh it happens quite often (consoles promoting games with footage captured on another console). That said, it is a little more misleading than usual as you're obviously not going to have this level of fidelity on the PS4(Pro)...

But at release, if that is indicative of what a Scorpio box can deliver, then hell yeah... I can't wait to see what it would look like on my PC.

But seeing the Batarian in MEAMP, I wonder if they may try to tie up a few loose ends that way.

Why do I get the feeling that Anthem, this online "game-as-a-service" which seems to be growing in popularity, is following in the same footsteps as Battlefield 1 and Titanfall2? That is, the latter two games are heading towards EA / Origin Access in September = subscription based model.
Anthem appears to be a Destiny-like online shooter. This means regular updates to keep players coming back to see what's new, thereby creating an "Anthem community of sorts. Plus, if it works, it's cheaper for Bio to create smaller weekly/monthly content than developing a brand new game. GTA Online is a good example of this approach and Take-Two finds it quite a money maker. Also, Ubisoft, Blizzard, and Activision have / are coming up with live-service games. I can't see EA staying out of this market.
Of course, I'm speculating regarding the subscription idea. However, there's enough hints at this stage (imo) that point in that direction.

Personally, I don't think so. Anthem is still a new IP and people need to get their hands on before getting a immersion of what the game feels like, before moving into a subscription model. Companies like Blizzard can pull of subscription because of their huge fan base and their IPs are insanely popular. Bioware are not at that stage, especially with recent games the fans are kinda alienated with Bioware. So they have "Be in good books" again and if Anthem gets a subscription model it would turn off a lot of players. "Anthem appears to be a Destiny-like online shooter." -- Anthem IS Destiny. Bioware/EA answer to Destiny, they said it time and time again. Current popular trend is co-op multiplayer, if you read stuff from GuardianCon and how much they raise for charity, you can understand why it's so popular. It's a good direction for Bioware. All they have to do is follow Destiny formula but have the core story-telling and strong characters arcs commonly seen Bioware games.

Well, the obvious comparison, Destiny, uses such a model revolving around sizable yearly story expansions culminating in a sequel after three years, which already has announced expansions of its own. Though Activision has also announced that they are dedicating more studios to work with Bungie to minimize content droughts. I'm not sure what that means.

And there lies my problem. How can a game with a FP mode in the hub(s) and 3rd person co-op in battle have deep chars and strong story arc(s)?
If these stories and char background is only found in the game's LORE or in Anthem's blog journal, I say forget it.

I'm not sure why those things would necessarily be a problem. I mean, we could still get the 3rd person cinematics and conversations with major characters that we've come to expect from Dragon Age and Mass Effect. And if they do follow the Destiny model, the story missions will be instances off, and feature cinematics (And built for a single player so there's still room for dialogue choices, even if these do acknowledge the party there's always the SWTOR style)

Anthem's 1st staged demo tells otherwise. It's a FPS shooter while in the hub and didn't Bio itself mentioned this very fact? Besides, the demo clearly shows a "conversation" in FPS mode... something the studio clearly wanted to show us. I can't see both modes being used in the hub as a design criteria for the game.
Now, a possible separate SP campaign may be something else. We'll know more in the coming months.

They could do both, if only for major story events. I'm assuming that the story will be like Destiny in the sense that there are many single player story missions which are designed for and instances for the individual player. This is the primary method by which the story is told, aside from talking to quest givers in the hub and cutscenes. I'm also assuming Bioware will do something similar but add the sort of dialogue choice people expect from their games. One of the theories I've had is that this FPS perspective will be used for sidequests and non-main story events in the hub so they only have to animate one side of the conversations. Think of it as a replacement for the free camera conversations in Inquisition and Andromeda. With big story events and conversations, it could be different.

Yea, I think it is possible that FPS in the hub or when talking with NPCs could replace free camera in DAI and many places of Andromeda. Just a different solution for those lower-priority quests or dialogues.

-(_ANTHEM_)-
But, what's the point of having both? What are the game architects trying to do or convey here? Is it necessary? Is the studio attempting to differentiate itself from other mundane FPS shooters?

Didn't you read responses? Because we sort of specified what we think might be going on.
