One of the things that makes most RPGs so appealing is that they have replay value. You can go back through the story with a different perspective which can make the game seem fresh all over again.
The standard two ways most RPGs allow you to go are the good and evil routes. So which one will you do first? Or will it be a pragmatic mix if the two?

Pragmatic colonist. I won't back down Milky way species interests for the Andromedan's sake. If I can reach a compromise solution that will benefit us all then I'm open to diplomacy if we cannot then I intend to make our words listened one way or the other.

My first playthrough will be just going by my gut in the moment and we'll see where that lands the character on any scale the developer might put in (paragon or renegade or whatever they bring as an alternative). I won't go into it with a predetermined agenda to be either "good" or "evil" and I fully expect this will result in someone is neither wholly good or wholly evil. I find I get a better first-time experience that way. After the first playthrough is done is when I start to try to manipulate my responses to be someone specifically one way or another.

Pragmatic colonist sounds good, like the middle point of two extremes. If we fled to Andromeda in order to escape from the Reapers, trying to assure the survival of Milky Way especies and maintaining the peace with Andromedians will be interestig. If they go all "exploring for the sake of exploring, colonialism" route then I will go full Peaceful Explorer. We decided to go there for the sake of exploring, let's not be all entitled conquerers in the process.

Nah. I wonder if the whole 'colonist' thing even applies.

I want to play as a Space Cortes and use the local minor races against the big powerful one in the name of human expansionism.

Why not all of them? I mean I guess I'll try all of them, but in the first playthrough probably pragmatic colonist. No need to be super nice towards everyone.

I can't answer this because it depends on how much resistance I'll be running into. The more those aliens try to hinder my people to colonize this system the harder I'll try. Force creates counterforce.- Essentially I'll be as cruel and ruthless as I need to be to make the colonization happen. This can range from super nice guy to Christopher Columbus level.
I'd like to do it by the numbers and in a peaceful, smooth way - but if some ships and villages need to be bombed to ashes to break enemy resistance and to get my point across I will not hesitate. It entirely depends on the Aliens.

Depends on the state of the Andromeda galaxy, I guess? Generally I'd lean towards pragmatic colonist -but if the planets are heavily inhabited by native alien species, doing a Lusia and just insisting on colonising wouldn't end well.. I mean, it didn't work out when the Krogans tried it. Discussion of treaties and reaching some sort of consensus would be ideal. If we create too many enemies in Andromeda, we've got nowhere to hide.

My first playthrough always ends up trying to do what is right. There have been a few exceptions, such as the Udina scene in ME3. I didn't hesitate to pull the trigger there, as I was certain the Asari councilor would die if I didn't. So I'll likely go peaceful Explorer.

As much as I'd probably prefer "Peaceful Explorer" mentality, if there's anything actually like that, this will definitely suck. Exploration is rarely fun. It's not even game-y.
This reminds me of those cheesy lines you can say to Morinth.

Ruthless conqueror. It should be fun and refreshing and if this type of playthrough is even possible in MEA (I hope so!) then I want to see what kind of consequences my actions will have.

Pragmatic as logn as it works.... If they come at you guns blazing, then you conquer them. Simple as that... Or you die, but I doubt the game will be about us dying.... Right?

wheres the "steal all your technology tweak it and then use it against you" option ?
seriously were supposed to be about making a new home, you don't do that by being a pushover ..... you do it by proving that your ruthless and will wipe them out if they cross you

An all out conquering attitude will clearly lead to failure. We have no idea what we will encounter. Flexibility and adaptability is the best approach to threats and for the colonization program.
So, fight when we must and make allies when the opportunity strikes. This policy gives us more options and more options = survival.

"We're out here to explore. To make contact with other life forms. To establish peaceful relations, but not to interfere. And absolutely not to destroy." "History has proven again and again that whenever mankind interferes with a less developed civilization, no matter how well intentioned that interference may be, the results are invariably disastrous."
"No being is so important that he can usurp the rights of another."
"There are times, sir, when men of good conscience cannot blindly follow orders. You acknowledge their sentience, but ignore their personal liberties and freedom."
"Being first at any cost is not always the point." ...
Call me Jean(ne)-Luc Ryder.
(I mean, obviously, the character I end up roleplaying will depend to a great extent upon what the game actually allows for--but I'll certainly be asking, 'What would Picard do?' whenever I'm faced with an appropriately momentous decision, at least on that first playthrough.)

I'm a pragmatist at heart. Sometimes diplomacy works...sometimes you need to fight something to get what you need.
It depends on the situation.
