Creepiest, most ridiculous scene in the game. Creepiest yes. Not the most ridiculous tho. The best part is Drack laughing his ass off in the background. It's just so hard to take it seriously... A poorly animated slap fight with zero impact finished off with that valley girl krogan voice (and I'm still not sure she's voiced by a female). As for the Asari, not only are they clones, but they all seem to have fat cheeks and wide faces, which just looks weird.

I believe so many faces look like placeholders is exactly because they were. But then they ran out of time to put in variations. I very much doubt they thought this was fine. Nor would QA miss all the bugs. By now it seems obvious that they fooled around too long with different concepts for this game, completely blowing their schedule. So there was no time left to polish the game properly.
I hope they keep patching it to fix some of the issues that didn't make it into the release version. However, I doubt that they will fix the clone faces. It's probably not high priority compared to game breaking bugs they have yet to address. Multiplayer has big issues, turning people off. And that's where all the future money is to be made. So I imagine they'll focus on that. Fixing the asari faces is a cosmetic issue, strictly speaking.

I guess the best we can hope for is a character creator for the next game for all races (I was half-hoping that I'd be able to customise my MP characters in more than just colours in Andromeda). Once you've got that it shouldn't be hard to just set random settings for minor or background characters, manually tweak them for the more prominent NPCs, and still maybe have a custom model for squadmates.
I had the "Bunch of clones" feeling with the angara more, probably because you see more of them together more often.

As you say, it's pouring money into something that is probably not worthy it financially.

Eh, some of the time. Most of the asari in the game don't really have very pronounced markings on their faces so it's super obvious. You haven't gotten to the asari ark yet. I thought the exact same thing, until I hit that section. From then on, it's suuuuuuper obvious, horrible, and creepy. Meh. MET had no problems with this and they had just as many NPCs--more, if you count the entire trilogy. Actually, every race in MEA has the same head for all the males, and for all the females, except humans (who have that awful hair--does Bioware really think blonds look like they're wearing piss with strands?) It's just most obvious because there's limited difference in how they can make asari look different. I've seen some clips and you have a point but it's far from a big issue to me.

Would it really be that much of a huge task to add some new faces for NPCs, particularly ones you interact with in the story? I wouldn't think that it would be all that difficult or time consuming, especially if you use some real face models as a base.
Why not just have a random face generator for all of the background ones?

Well it cost you guys full price for an unfinished game so until the game is worthy of full price they are still below their cost margin. They don't need to be worrying about DLC at this time. They haven't released the vanilla game yet.

I looked through ME1 to ME3 with ME3Explorer and outside of Liara, Samara, Avina, Benezia, and Aria, every Asari has the same face.

What I would do for an Asari in Andromeda that looks this. Your such a SEXIST. Don't you know REAL women don't look near that good? Bioware refuses to cave into such things On the serious side. PLEASE fix the freaking game bugs before even thinking of addressing the graphics. I can live with ugly avatars, I would rather not, but what I can't live with are game glitches and quest stopping bugs.

Not to mention Benezia. No need to look at ME3Explorer, looking at the game is enough - and more accurate, it would seem.

That's racist! More seriously, if they can put unique heads on almost every single NPC, including the ones I promptly forget about 2 seconds after talking to, they could certainly have gone for 2 or 3 different heads in MEA, with unique ones for squad/crewmates.

Perhaps it's better to just accept that the new Mass Effect games are of a lower budget quality than their predecessors and enjoy them that way. Just don't pay the "AAA" asking price for them.

Because Mass Effect is game were you have to interract/chat with a lot of different people, appearance/looks really matters. Even if you speak to one person only once, it's really annoying to see the same person twice. In a game like Battlefield or Call of Duty you don't really care about the face of an NPC since the game is not focussed on chatting.
In a Mass Effect game, if you get distracted by the mediocre facial animation or 'where did I saw this person already' instead of being concentrated to the narrative, it breaks the immersion.
I really hope Bioware will fix this in an update or at least doesn't make the same mistake in a next game.

With a different nose and eyes she'd be almost identical. No I didn't bother looking at the rest since I am not defending the lazy Asari faces in Andromeda. A lot of people exaggerate the variety of faces Asrai have in the original series, but it is a greater number then just two so it does win out. Also, as far as looks go, every humna npc who is not a major charcter in the first game is hideous, and that seems be even more stark on the female faces. They all look like they have the Innsmouth look (google if you aren't familiar). At least they improved on that it subsequent installments. None of this is a defense for the Asari in Andromeda though.

For T'Suzsa, her entire forehead line looks different than Aria to me. But I'm not particularly good with facial features, so I'm not contending the point www.gamerguides.com/assets/media/w1600h1600/arias-back-with-a-vengeance-.pngWell Bioware does (did) a better job on female heads than Bethesda does, so there's that. But yeah they do tend to be pretty hideous. The ones in Andromeda seem to have ratcheted that up a notch, too. The blond(?) that randomly shows up during the Hyperion docking still gives me nightmares.
