Looking at all these Asaris posted here - and I do not talk about "special" Asaris like Liara, Aria or Benezia. These are exactly two presets, one is used for the standart Asaris, one is the Aria preset that is also used for a few Asaris. Differences? Certainly not the mesh, just look at the mouth, the nose, the eyes, the whole face structure. It's the textures including the normals for sthe tentacle scales. The more obvious skin colors. The face paintings. If that's what people want and talking about then BW could patch it, I guess. Just flap a few new textures on the faces and everyone's happy. All the NPCs that were listed had noticeable differences. They were not exactly the same. Different eyes, nose, mouth structures, positioning, proportions. Did they possibly start out with the same default mesh? Probably, and that's fine. But they are distinctly different, and the differences are way more than just the texture and face paint.

All forums are like that, most people are either immature by nature or immature by choice, when it comes to the anonymity of inet. You know, it is cool to act immature like some kid who never seen a real naked woman. To some extent, but maybe gaming forums are the worst? Maybe gaming forums have more guys that are insecure and never been laid in their life and think it's cool to talk about animated T&A? Maybe they're the gaming majority and it explains why we have so much immature writing and content in our RPG's? Just a thought... ^This isn't meant to disparage anyone. We've all been immature, sometimes I still am, lol.

I think Bioware is actually brilliant. I think the Asari having all the same faces is a subtle critique of conformity, and how modern society clumps us into masses, objectifying us all, stripping us of our individualism and humanity. That...or lazy game design, I haven't decided which yet.

In DAO every single NPC has a distinct face, down to the lowest duster of Orzammar. Most NPCs were ugly and likely procedurally generated, but back then they already thought different faces were important.
I have trouble letting this one go because it's so bizarre. I don't understand it. It's like how they didn't put walking in Inquisition. Every game in history has it, but they had to patch walking in.

I'm pretty sure some NPC's were generated this way in Inquisition as well. In the scene where you first speak to Cullen outside Haven, the Lieutenant that he speaks to cycles between looks. Sometimes it's some young-ish dude with a mullet, other times it's an older balding man...

I loaded up ME1 earlier and played just a bit for the heck of it. I saw like 2 or 3 different Asari in about 10 minutes. Cool story...

I mean, if they're distinct enough that you have to really look to see the similarities, that's good enough.

Maybe they go this typical stereotype. It is said, to asians all white look alike. To whites, all black look alike. And so on. It is said, each culture looks for different features in the face and thats why people of a different culture (race) seem to be the same. Maybe they want to "simulate" thist to tell us "to humans, all asari would look the same".

Pretty sure it's just laziness. Laziness as in shoddy development, or laziness as in cost-cutting?

Does it have to be one or the other? No, it can be both. Perhaps a microcosm of the whole game? Sounds about right. I decided to take screenshots of the last 5 or so random asari NPCs that I ran across (for the person who said they looked pretty different to them). I didn't go out of my way or look for these ones or anything. Literally just the last 5 I saw while doing quests. The first two even have the same pose and clothing (they're sitting in Tarterus on either side of the salarian that gives you the Baryte quest).

I think they all sorta look like that. The 4th from the right looks like she's dropping a turd.

I have a theory. Maybe the whole cryo pod thing is fake.
Actually everyone's mind was digitized for the journey then their body was disposed of.
Then upon arrival or soon before, they clone you a body that is identical and your mind is put in it.
To keep you from knowing this your mind template is altered so you think all asari, turians, etc, look the same except for markings.
Somehow the humans opted out of this or their SAM caught on to the plot so humans were frozen, or perhaps their clones were perfected more.
This could also explain the ugly and weird looking humans...they are the ones SAM didn't like and decided to play a joke on.
He just changed their mindprint so they thought they always were weird or ugly.
I'm telling you..that anti-ai lady may have been right and SAM is secretly the puppetmaster of all..:-)

I do see your point it's just not a huge issue to me as they seem distinct enough.

I honestly don't remember who it was. Might have been you. But picture those 5, replicated another 10 times or more. I can get more screenshots if you'd like Those two on the left are exactly identical.

I wish they add more faces in the next update , its the only thing stopping me for advancing in the story , every time i speak to an asari i Alt-F4 out of angry (angers me they got this right in the OT but they have 2 face models for an entire humanoid human-like spices in this game)
