...and fails miserably. * She begins by attempting to re-create herself (Haha! So clueless.) and then quickly abandons that idea. * She then attempts to create a decent/attractive-looking char, and it doesn't go so well... * She then slowly slips into the mindset of: "Oh, f*ck it. I'll just create a monstrosity." It's really funny, and yet so very sad as well (IMO, as someone who hates the Character Creator). Anyway, I really like Felicia Day and I got a lot of LOL's out of it, so I wanted to share in case anyone's interested and hasn't seen it yet (either during the stream or on YouTube).

I'm a big Felicia Day fan too. I joined and played an MMO hardcore for almost 2 years after seeing her "the Guild" series on Netflix.

How are people struggling to create attractive characters? Created 2, one of who looks like Ash. Did not plan that and the voice mismatch throws me still.

How are people struggling to create attractive characters? Created 2, one of who looks like Ash. Did not plan that and the voice mismatch throws me still. Some people are terrible with CCs. I really think it's a talent, of sorts. In my experience, the best characters come when you have a general goal heading into it, but remain flexible. People give their characters ridiculous hair colors, makeup, etc... and then wonder why they don't look good. Most also seem inclined to make faces and features far too narrow, particularly on female characters. With a bit of practice, focusing on real-life facial proportions, a person can hone their CC skills into something good. I agree that this CC generates very good characters. It lacks the mix and match features most of us likely expected; but it's far more versatile than most seem to realize. They get hung up on a preconceived idea, or individual features, instead of digging into what is there. I enjoy crafting a lifelike face that bears no resemblance to the preset starting point. Edit: I watched the video on mute, since my wife is sleeping. It looks like Felicia is another long-time RPG-player who sucks with CCs. I sometimes wish that I could take the controller, in vids like these, and come to the rescue.

Once I start messing about with eye shape, brow, jaw, etc. you just know terror film material is going to be created. Needless to say, places like masseffect2faces, /r/InquisitionSliders or now masseffectarchives are like a gift from the gods for the likes of me.

It is also a matter of a personal taste. I cannot create a tolerable (not even attractive) male character in this CC (my female character is quite good except her skin texture). No such problems in many other games, my CC skills are adequate. Being lifelike doesn't equal being attractive. There are all kinds of lifelike ugly, freaky, very meh MEA guys. As far as I have seen, no one managed to make a male character that I would want in my game.

It's not all talent, some of it are skills that you hone over time.

The makeups in this CC as a design decision are to me a mystery greater than dark energy and the Higgs boson. You have to be on LSD to come up with those ideas for makeup.

I like Felicia Day, I really do, but if someone says "What does cheekbone width means? What's the difference between cheek and cheekbone?" I no longer wonder why people create ugly characters. There's just no shortage of characters that have totally messed up cheeks, so when you look at their face from like "half-profile", you see a freaking S shaped cheek-line. Sunken cheeks with detached cheekbones.

But the second one came out so much better because i learned from the first one. yeah my first Sara I don't think was prefect Iliked her but she wasn't the best character I'd created. I admit it is harder to make a decent character in MEA than in some CC's but not impossible as my NPC Sara in my current playthrough looks much nicer, even to the point where I might make a similar Sara for my Jaal romance later. But then I don't alway saim to make all my characters look pretty.I did try a little more in my current run and I've got the kind of look I want in mind for my next run when I do it. But I'm going to hold off on that until I've done a run of the DA games

How are people struggling to create attractive characters? Created 2, one of who looks like Ash. Did not plan that and the voice mismatch throws me still. Facial proportions are hugely important to making something that looks good. For people who just pull around sliders randomly with no awareness of this it's really easy to end up with something that looks inhuman once it starts to move in dialogue. That said, the ME:A CC is not good. It's too limited to what the preset already has in terms of noses, skin colour, eye shape and so on.

As far as I have seen, no one managed to make a male character that I would want in my game. There is no pony-tails! That's my biggest problem atm. Girls get 3 different ponytails, boys get none. But I actually have made Male Ryders I really like, in every race. Females were never a problem at all. They are gorgeous!
My Male Screenshots (I would not end up playing them all, but I like them all! Obviously my taste in men is not everyone else's taste in men... but tbh, I found the CC pretty adequate for conveying male handsomeness after some practice. And dart, I can't do Spoiler tags well either... Excuse me, while I am re-editing...
EDIT: Okay, the spoiler tags are not going to work, so... just take it on my word that I like males in CC, just wish there was a pony tail.... 'cause nothing is as essential to male beauty as lovely long hair pulled back

It's good that more people than us whiny fans are having problems with the DLC :ulikeit: Yeah not much you can do when the base models are just hideous. Throw an extremely limited CC on top of that and, well, you get MEA.

I have literally never seen a character made in this CC that I found truly good looking. Some are ok, but most of them look very ugly and it amuses me how people still manage to be proud of their creations and be like "look how beeeautiful my Ryder is".
I'm sorry, they really aren't (especially if we're talking about a Sara).

Maybe they don't know what makes a generally attractive face? I dunno. Or they want something specific and are not observant enough to understand which part of the face needs to be tweaked to give them the effect they find truly beautiful, or they cannot see which face overall is the closest to their heart desire over all the cosmetic stuff and hair. Rotating the face, and looking at multiple pictures of what you want to emulate in different light and from different angle is really helpful there.
Or you can really just push sliders around to change the same face until what you see as irritating goes away or gets exaggerated.
One bad thing about the default appearances as you open the creator is that they have intrusive make-up and hair options.
Dunno, I just love CC's, and the models this time are really interesting imo.
Anyway, I'll just get lost for now.

i am one of those people who cant figure out CCs. so i generally just use Defaults.
i can tweak some settings on a preset sure, but if i start messing with cheekbones and brow widths or ridge depths or other such things, i wind up with Sloth from goonies regardless of where the starting point was.
