Yeah that NPC is well and truly hideous. :D8: It is a great example of everything wrong with MEA's characters. The neon hair, the neanderthal face, the slumped posture, the giant man hands, the stubby legs. It is the perfect encapsulation of everything I dislike about the game. This is by far the worst looking NPC in the game. There are a few stupid-looking dudes with wiredly colored fros, but she is singular. Fortunately, she says one line and disappears forever. Yes, very thankful for that. I was trying to enjoy the Hyperion landing when she jumped out at me and I literally yelped and was knocked completely out of my immersion.

How are people struggling to create attractive characters? Created 2, one of who looks like Ash. Did not plan that and the voice mismatch throws me still. You can create attractive characters. Using the same three presets as everyone else. That's the problem.

DAI had horrible defaults and assets, but an amazing ability to create unique looking characters despite that. I've made probably 10 different looking female elves. There is a place for unibrows and atrocious hair styles, but not all brows and hair styles need to be monstrous. MEA has much better defaults assets (at least for female), but it's impossible to create unique characters. #4 clones:

Using the same three presets as everyone else. That's the problem. Similar to how every female Shepard seemed to have been created using Head Shape 7? I'm not claiming that this CC wouldn't benefit from more options; but a good character can be had from any of the presets.

Head SHAPE is a head SHAPE. It's just an overall shape of the face, where you can still completely change eyes, nose, eyebrows and lips. Let's not compare head shapes to presets

Yup I can empathise. Same thing happened when I tried using the CC. Tried to make myself, tried to make something that resembled a human then gave up and used the default due to lack of options.

If someone needs a good looking female I'd recommend using this template:
I've been using the face just swapped eye and hair color to make her more like female shepard. Looks really good in game though, actually looks pretty and not weird in cutscenes.
Certainly looks a lot better tha the default female ryder, I tried using her on my ng+ after using scott on my first playthrough but had to quit and make a custom face becuase she just looks so damn weird in cutscenes and certain lighting that it was killing my immersion.

The CC is such a joke. The hair shader for anything other than dark tones is clearly broken in terms of gamma. How anyone can play with anything beyond dark brown is beyond me. Bethesda have had a decent anisitropic hair shader since Oblivion 11 years ago! Indeed a lot of Skyrim hair mods that people hold as a high standard are based on very old assets. Apart from physics collisions it is an artistic failing and not a technical one. There's already a precedent for clipping in the game. If they were gonna outsource anything it should've been that.
Oh and those tattoo and make-up designs... I'm betting they just downloaded a set of Photoshop brushes called "Space Age" and called it a day. Nailed it there guys...

I have literally never seen a character made in this CC that I found truly good looking. Some are ok, but most of them look very ugly and it amuses me how people still manage to be proud of their creations and be like "look how beeeautiful my Ryder is". I'm sorry, they really aren't (especially if we're talking about a Sara). The asian woman looks great.

It is also a matter of a personal taste. I cannot create a tolerable (not even attractive) male character in this CC (my female character is quite good except her skin texture). No such problems in many other games, my CC skills are adequate. Being lifelike doesn't equal being attractive. There are all kinds of lifelike ugly, freaky, very meh MEA guys. As far as I have seen, no one managed to make a male character that I would want in my game. There is no pony-tails! That's my biggest problem atm. Girls get 3 different ponytails, boys get none. But I actually have made Male Ryders I really like, in every race. Females were never a problem at all. They are gorgeous!
My Male Screenshots (I would not end up playing them all, but I like them all! Obviously my taste in men is not everyone else's taste in men... but tbh, I found the CC pretty adequate for conveying male handsomeness after some practice. And dart, I can't do Spoiler tags well either... Excuse me, while I am re-editing...
EDIT: Okay, the spoiler tags are not going to work, so... just take it on my word that I like males in CC, just wish there was a pony tail.... 'cause nothing is as essential to male beauty as lovely long hair pulled back
I don't think I've ever given a ponytail to any of my characters, but I know the feeling, there are very few hairstyles in Andromeda that look good. The problem is unchangeable presets. If you like any of them, then you are fine, if you don't, then there is no alternative because these presets cannot be changed much, they are very rigid. And as there is no such thing as being universally attractive, then many people will be disappointed. As I said, I haven't seen a single attractive male face made in this CC. I am sure many people can make a face that they find beautiful but many simply cannot and not always because of lack of skill. The reworked and updated Inquisition CC would be so much better. More complexions, more options for facial features and some extended ranges of existing sliders, better hair - there would be more ethnic diversity than in this one, this CC is actually stereotyping ethnicities, not making them diverse. E.g., the Asian people who live near the Ural mountains don't look like Chinese or Pakistani people. Their features can be adequately made in the Inquisition CC, but for this one people who want their character to be Asian will be forced to play Asian=Chinese with little control over the preset itself.

As far as I have seen, no one managed to make a male character that I would want in my game. I agree that it's entirely subjective, just like real-life assessment of appearance. I've created some good Scotts, but they don't necessarily look 22. I've managed 27, maybe 25. The complexions, as in skin textures, for the men are a bit rough for someone so young. I would settle for 35 if the character is attractive to me. Complexions are less of a problem than presets.

Some people kept saying it was so pretty and amazing in the game, then she started making ugly faces and it started breaking the immersion to me. It's pretty annoying. From what I watched, this one looks almost the same as the other three, but I guess my main problem really is the facial animations. Funny thing is, I really managed to get used to default Sara's face, and I find default Scott very handsome most of the time.

The first face is the best OOTB if happy to play an oriental. I can get ok characters from the last face and first two haircuts, but the rest is ugh!
The last face and first haircut gives quite a nice professional image, see my avatar.

No offense to those who use and like it, but I really don't like this preset. Her head is small and narrow, and most hairstyles end up looking like an overlarge hat sitting upon her head. With this head, it's essential to use a short cut with bangs (and not Suvi's cut.) I believe there are only two such options. They're the only ones that fit her small head. This is no different than the OT CC, in which certain styles fit only certain headshapes. If one really wants a good-looking protagonist, they have to dig through the options and see what's really possible. Keeping the alterations superficial is what creates all of these clones we see, most of which are meh. One also has to be willing to accept the limitations imposed by each preset and work within those confines. Again, this is no different than most CCs, and certainly not different from the OT. The strength of this CC is that it's easy to get realistic, mostly attractive characters out of it. With work, they can look amazing, or "very attractive". The weakness is that certain features are non-negotiables, since they are part of the individual facial scans.

It's ok if you can't, I'm not challenging you, I'm just curious because in my opinion, putting work in these presets makes almost no difference and they all end up looking the same and, in my opinion (and maybe that's just me, of course), bad.

Yeah I tried working with that preset first, and I eventually gave up. That preset, to me, may be the one who makes portraits of the most attractive female character you can create in Andromeda's CC, but in the game she looks very, very bad. And I agree with everything Element Zero said about her head.

I'll think about giving it a try. I play on PS4, so sharing pics is a bit of a PITA. The part of looking "very distinct" is almost more subjective than making them "good-looking". If you allow for the same skin textures, eyes and brows-- non-editable restrictions-- the rest can be changed. It's an interesting creative challenge. I'll see what I can do. I think it's doable. EDIT: As I was about to start a NG+ for Scott, I decided to give this a shot. I made a pretty nice black Sara, using scan #5. That's not the best head for a black woman; but I had a few pics of #5 pics for a different Sara, so it made my job easier. I'll likewise include some pics of my favorite Sara, a third #5 creation, and the only one with which I've actually played extensively. I moved a few over to USB. I still need to create an imgur account (right?), and grab my wife's business laptop. (I browse this forum on a tablet or phone.)
