Honestly, the disappointment I'm feeling about the trailers is a reminder to temper my expectations. I was seriously considering getting Origin Access for at least a month, just to play early. Now I'm back to reality and will be watching other people's videos and impressions before purchasing. I mean...I know I'll eventually get the game, but I'm not preordering, signing up for a monthly service, or even getting it on day one, unless some amazing deal falls into my lap. And while it's not because I am sad that Sara Ryder was not the hero in any cinematic trailers, that fact did remind me that Bioware has burned me before, and they will most likely do it again. meh. I did it because 3 euros worths it in my opinion. I don't know if my laptop is good enough for the game, so it's a good way to tested only for 3 euros  (and then you can pursue no more Origin Access  ) |

I'd be happy to tweet to marketing team of Mass Effect as well and whoever is pulling their strings on EA's side if anyone can hook me up with their twitter usernames. However Bioware has their name on those trailers as well so they are responsible as company for their games marketing as well and they should know as well that people aren't happy. Besides if EA is really telling them to shut up about romances while hypocritically ordering for Scott getting erotic with female LIs on trailers maybe they should be aware of problem that it brings as well. And still I don't see Bioware devs as some victims that bigoted EA is bullying to submission. I'm so tired of all this anger. I was sympathetic for so long, I was on board up until today. But where the hell does it end ? Eventually you have to stop being angry and accept that we won't get answers until the 16th. But none of you are going to do that are you ? You're going to complain right to the last moment, because Bioware has been so mean and unfair to us haven't they ? I'm so tired of hearing it at this point. You guys have caused so many arguments by bringing this stuff into normally happy threads. Look, I'm as gay as the rest of you, so like it or not you're stuck in the same boat as me. And despite everything I just said, I still consider some of you my friends. I hope everyone gets the LI they've wanted. But I'm done with this thread, the negativity is too much. I would say we have to wait until 21th. Keep in mind DAI Hinterlands style we won't be able to advance the main plot to certain point. It's been confirmed, for example, in this trial won't be able to meet Jaal yet. |

So what? I can't voice my opinion that these accusations of hypocrisy are overly hyperbolic and premature because there are LGBT people in this thread? Sure I might be riling up people but that doesn't mean my points aren't still valid and able to be brought up, I don't think I'm violating any TOS. Except, it is hypocritical. Arguing there's no double standard doesn't even make sense at this point. The thing is this trailer was for people who aren't fans of the series. Given that the majority of the population is straight they are going to focus their trailer towards that demographic. I'm not saying its right but its a numbers game for any corporation. Once again: the problem is not Peebee and Scott coochie coochie in a bed. The problem lesbian Sara Ryders and Gay Scott Ryders don't know if we will have romance options in the squad AT ALL. This won't be this way if they have said officially: well, Jaal is bi, Vetra too, etc. They said "find the romances in the game" But at the same time if you play a straight Scott you know OFFICIALLY you can romance Cora and Peebee That's the main problem. And the neglected Sara in marketing too, by the way |

ok, looks like we have the second confirmed romance (I'll update the OP). I would imagine more will emerge in 6 days time (or at least some 'no I'm not into you...' I enjoyed the trailer, but these things are marketed to the broad gaming community and beyond, not the 'fan community'. I would be as bad if they didn't claim : "We prefer to keep the romance options in secret. Discover it yourself!" And "Sara would have her own Cinematic trailer? Definetely!" And "We will market EQUALLY Sara and Scott" This is the epitome of hypocrisy. And pointing this out is not the same like saying "Bioware is sexist, Bioware is homophobe" etc. I'll see that when I play the game. But the marketing choices? They said the will do one thing and they are not delivering AT ALL |

I'm gonna translate that inferiority complex to my Sara first playthrough. All her life trying to prove to her father, to her teachers, then to her instructors, she is could be the hero. She could be as good as her brother. And every fucking one of her authority figures act like "yeah, you are good, but Scott is the star". Always relegated to be a glorified secondary character. Then suddenly Scott pod fails and she has to be the fucking hero. And she can pretend she is the one for the job but under the surface she doesn't believing in herself because SHE NEVER HAD HER OWN TRAILER she can't picture herself as the hero :contempt: This is kind of how I played my Fallout 4 character; her husband had been the soldier, and a charismatic, natural leader, while she was the shy, introverted bookworm who became a lawyer. She should not have been the one who wakes up after an apocalypse and has to be a hero, but here we are. I'm not sure how I'll play my Ryder yet, but this is a good headcanon. I did. Exactly. The same with FO4!!!!  I would have preferred we had the choice to select the type of background our character has, but I like unlikely hero narrative Although I don't like to be forced to use it because I play the woman :srs: That's why Shepard gave me so much. I didn't need to use the unlikely hero trope (at least, not when the first game begins. Of course part of her background could start that way until Akuze/Skyllian Blitz/Torfan moment) |

Seriously, I understand the trailer is aimed to new players etc, but in the moment you establish the rule "we won't reveal romance options, discover you for yourself" you have to follow it. I understand you put Cora love scene in the second trailer. Sex sells. Ok. Unjust but understandable. I was expecting that scene or a new one with Cora in this third trailer but the marketing team seems to apply "romance secrecy" only with women (lesbian/bi/straight) and gay men.
It's only a marketing choice, but it hurts. I don't know if it hurts because is laughable or else...

0:54 A theory about, tagged in spoilers just in case: It looks like a Krogan genetically enginereed. Is it possible Archon is genetically engineering his own army? Somebody already pointed out kett are pretty similar to Angara, exoeskeleton aside. Some people already said it was strange the Feid had that exoeskeleton like the kett. If that figure is also a Krogan with exoskeleton, will be facing an enemy who basically can do something similar to the Reapers (modifying DNA of previous species in order to make his own army). Maybe Archon is NOT a kett, is another race.
Maybe the Archon is what remains of the fucking remnant!! |
