I love the game. Sorry you don't. Go play ME3 if you don't enjoy large open world RPGs with great combat and complex customization and crafting mechanics. I see you left out story, dialogue, characters, etc... All of the reasons many of us play RPGs in the first place. And this isn't even an open world rpg... it's like 7 or 8 zones that offer limited exploration. Have you even played Skyrim or The Witcher 3? Heck, even Baldur's Gate 1+2 from 20 years ago had more of an open world compared to Andromeda. Witcher 3 doesn't count: 2 times more Budget, an existing Ip, State of Poland giving money to the studio to finish it, excellent PR and indie dev symathy. BG 1 and 2: Well i haven't played BG 2 for the last 13-14 years or so so it's a bit blurry but as i remember it it was more: Variety of approach more than freedom of movement. Skyrim: Is a bad game. Very good with mods but mods aren't the game. The game itself is bland unfinished and really average.

Won't be GOTY. But may be my personal GOTY due to how many hours and how much care I put into it, dammit. Won't (in this base state) be in my top games overall.
I'll put it in the unoffical (because it'll be too late, so I'm just talking about what would be my favored game from 2017 to suggest to people) running depending on the updates and DLC, though those may extend into 2018.

I don't like Skyrim either, but that's the definition of open-world (all the Elder Scrolls games for that matter). Andromeda is not. BG 1+2 shits all over Andromeda from an open-world perspective. You can go into every single house in that game, nothing is off-limits. While there's essentially different zones you travel to, there's way more than in Andromeda, and a complete playthrough of all side-quests would actually take you longer to complete. And they're not all fetch quests. Part of the reason though, is that it's not 3D - you can do a lot more with pre-rendered backgrounds. It'd be amazing to see a game like that again, only the size of TW3.

Now is MEa a good openworld? Heh. I'm not sure but for sure it ain't a terrible one. BG1 and 2: The most praised BW games are those focusing on characters and not on main plots: ME2 is vain but has great characters. BG2 is... God-son story seen many times but even after those years i still remember Imoen andd Jon Irenicus. Tell me BW should give up on making games such as DA and even ME and focus on a character driven space opera closed chamber mystery: I'ld agree. They know how to write engaging people but not engaging stories. Remove the sympathy for the studio, sexy sex scenes and the books: What remains of TW3? A visually downgraded game, buggy at release, featuring a vast world with good writting -granted- and a clunky fighting system, some "follow the batman detective vision" monster hunts/side quests, awfull menus and limited character progression. Defenetly GOTY material....

Defenetly GOTY material.... Lol - okay you've clearly never played TW3. Andromeda looks like hot garbage in comparison, and none of its environments are interactive. You just walk down gated paths at Bioware's prodding. But you can jump now to help you get where they want you to go faster! I think people like you that pan the Witcher just don't like how you can't make a customized face for Geralt. If his face was customizable, you would love it. And not RPG of the year, RPG of the decade so far. That's why everyone compares everything to it - it's the standard bearer that other games try and measure up to.

No the game was very buggy on release, and I didn't like the main quest that much. The side quest was great but I did often boil down to use Witcher sense. I loved the game overall but I've turned off by their fans often going on fourms (like this one ) and constantly praise it over and over again while thrashing the game people talk about.

I really loved the cast for inquisition but not quite feeling it with the new guys... Yet. That will probably make the ultimate difference between tier 1 and tier. 2 .

Yes I have. And IMO, the story, dialogue, and characters are great so far. They keep getting better. I love the Angara, the mystery of the remnant, terra forming, and the pretty conflicting religious themes/views. I also like all the different factions and conflicting views within races. The crew and banter and interactions are my favorite in the series. Right on par with Mass Effect 2 but much more intimate considering the small rag tag group. And this game is very much more open world than the previous mass effects. Multiple zones/planets to explore with the freedom to proceed as you will while also incorporating the linear story and side missions. There's also several more ports/ towns /Hubs to go to and pick up missions. Witcher 3 also wasn't just one big open map. It was several open area zones similar to Mass Effect Andromeda. Did you play Witcher 3?? Haha And it works better here because you have the awesome tempest to travel between maps/worlds.

We all wanted it to be a GOTY candidate at the very least.
Turns out, it won't get anywhere close.
That's the way things happen sometimes.
Just because it's not GOTY worthy, doesn't mean it's not still fun to play.

Skyrim is by defenetion the incarnation of dull openworld with nothing in it. MEA tries -clumsily- to tie things together. Now is MEa a good openworld? Heh.
