I really enjoyed the SP so far, but since 1.05 I can't really progress. So I just wait for the next patch and hope for the best.

Plus, you can see how the weapons and powers would work if they actually caused damage. Are you kidding? Try playing insanity on level 50+.

Back to the first ME, in between Civ 5 and Psycho Murderer Simulator Mafia 3. *Shrugs. Im a well rounded kinda crazy.

Overall I'm enjoying the campaign, is it as good as the previous three? No, but the combat is good. The squad mates are decent, banter is good, not DA good. There is some groan worthy writing for sure. Far as technical issue go, been very lucky. I give it a 7.75, with some good dlc an 8 plus is very possible.

I want to get into SP but they really boned the opening mission. Within the first 30 minutes of the Mass Effect 1 opening mission - the playable part after you get done talking to everyone on the Normandy - you: * Watch Jenkins die. * Fight some Geth. * Meet Ashley. * Watch Saren betray and murder ThatOtherTurian. * Have a crazy Lovecraftian vision from the Prothean Beacon. Within the first 30 minutes of the Mass Effect Andromeda mission - the playable part after you get done talking to everyone on the Space Noah's Ark - you: * Wander around and practice jumping. * Listen to Liam prattle on. * Fight some Kett. * Maybe explore a Remnant ruin. And that's it. No antagonist introduction, no teammate introduction, no sense of the larger story. BORE. ING. I've only played about 4 hours so far because of this, it's just boring so far. The other 3 me's all kicked off with a bang and got interesting pretty fast.

Today marks the first day that I can't even be bothered to log on for a second and send out my strike teams. I just looked at the game before launching it and shook my head. Fuck EAware for this.
I look forward to the fail that is their balance patch....I mean how much longer can they do nothing? They think people will buy their games after this? hahaha. We aren't even making fun of the game anymore...we are talking about SP in the MP section. You are terrible.

Complete freedom of powers is BS. I just picked my 3 fave power I can chain combo, a dash of passives, and now all these other levels I'm gaining are meaningless. So the motivation to level up is now gone too. Bravo, BioFail. Not true. Many percentage bonuses from passives continue to increase based on how many points you have invested in a particular tree. Example: With only the first level of OFFENSIVE BIOTICS, there is a 2% increase to biotic damage however; with a maxed BIOTICS tree (252 points invested), that 2% becomes 40%. So maxing a specific skill doesn't mean you've hit a brick wall in terms of progression. You don't truly hit that "brick wall" until you've completely maxed the tree. Many of the COMBAT and TECH passives work the same. So weapon/grenade damage will continue to climb until you've completely maxed the COMBAT tree; and TECH powers will continue to improve until you've maxed the TECH tree. Also keep in mind that profile bonuses are multiplying your already multiplied stats.

My plan (whenever I return to SP) is to switch to a dakka invasion-barricade-turbocharge infiltrator profile (accuracy, stability, headshot damage and invasion recharge speed, boing). My overarching disappointment with SP is the sacrifice of story depth/intrigue, character development and immersion for the sake of...

Complete freedom of powers is BS. I just picked my 3 fave power I can chain combo, a dash of passives, and now all these other levels I'm gaining are meaningless. So the motivation to level up is now gone too. Bravo, BioFail. Profiles. Use profiles. You can change your build depending on situation. Doing long range sniping? Switch to wall hacking infiltrator build with cloak/barricade/energy drain/concussive shot for cc. Fighting at midrange? Biotic build with backlash, pull and detonator. Or add an engineer build for taking down armor, with cryo, fire and other tech powers. Slap on turbocharge on one of these profiles just for fun (you can have 4 of them). If you spec a lot of points into tech or biotic, the passive upgrades get a % bonus for each point invested, and at levels 50+ you can make the combos do a *lot* more damage than in MP. Infiltrator rank 3 gets 30% tech recharge reduction, and there is a tech skill that increases your weapon damage by (I don't remember how much but it's a lot) % whenever you use a tech power. If you use that with combat augmentation that reduces your power recharges by an additional 50% it feels like good old ME2/ME3 again. Full engineer tech combo build does a *lot* of damage with detonations and you can make them very spammable. This is insanity viable and powers are just as useful as the high level guns. And with all these skill points, you can easily carry up to 4 guns without a power recharge penalty, or two types of snipers, a shotgun and a pistol because why not. And switching profile combat styles for adapting to situations is a lot of fun.

I'm trying to catch up on the SP too. I keep putting it on hold because some of those side missions are too damn tedious and I just can't continue. But now I'm getting burned out on the MP so I'm back into SP and working on the priority mission. It's actually fun as hell.

Medicating him was treatment for PTSD. I get what you're saying, but it was still good.

I have not really tried SP for two reasons. My main technical issue is dysfunction of normal saves which is ridiculous. I'm going to wait for that to be fixed and it seems to be at least planned.
My second conceptual issue is overall seriousness of the theme and casual approach to it by Mr. Frazier. I don't think it is appropriate and does not seem to be well done based on what people say, this thread including. You've got to be very gifted and spend a lot of polish time to create something M*A*S*H* style and even MASH is barely walking a fine line while Meda is just half-arsed bad attempt. So, I'm really very reluctant to even try based on my own grim experience during the first hour. It just depreciates the genre, story and anything too much giving out too little.
It is like multiplayer where the majority plays zero outlaws basically forsaking the whole concept of jetpacks and verticality regarding the map and going for most entertaining enemies which coincidentally offer the path of least resistance. Are all players out there just greedy and want to farm their manifest? Absolutely not. It is just that design of other maps is bad and design of other enemies is either boring or plain bad. Same goes for RP aspect and plot or so it seems. There might be some rare instances when it works but to get there, you have to sieve through a ton of bs. In multiplayer you can skip the bs part barring CTDs, lag and no sound glitch but in SP you have to endure. At least let me save and maybe I'll come back to where I rage quit in a few days. Otherwise, no. There are apparently other more tempting ways to have fun for me, sorry.

I admit I actually do enjoy SP... The first hour or so I played the first time I was about to give up, because seeing Phoebe with that ridiculous animation on top of the already very childish conversations just made me cringe.. I nearly threw my controller into the tv and stomped on my PS4, I kid you not! But then after a few moments of breaks I decided to carry on and give it another chance and I'm actually glad I did, it got better! Not brilliantly better but better as in really good imo. For me it's enjoyable once you get through the first hour, maybe a bit more, enough to meet the angarians and I'd be lying if I'd said that I hated playing the SP. There's a lot more to the game beyond the first 30 hours, but damn... with all the glitches, game-breaking bugs on the PS4 console, it's ruined for me. I'm willing to give it another go on the PC once it's thoroughly patched and all the DLC is bundled in so I'm not spending time in the troubleshooting forums. I'm done doing that.
