Why was the Nexus meant to arrive first, come to think of it? One of several plot holes for the sake of forced drama. The arks can dock with the Nexus, and there's no logical reason why they shouldn't have made the journey in the docked state, or at the very least in an autopilot controlled tight formation. What they did is the sci-fi variant of characters splitting up in a horror movie - "let's all split up so we are alone and defenseless when they find us".

Mary Kirby @biomarykirbyThis is an extremely good thread. Aaron Makes Video Games @nemo10In the fallout from the Kotaku Anthem piece, there hasn't really been enough talk about how bad the industry is at promoting and training leads. I've worked with a lot of people who were promoted to positions they were unprepared for, & everybody suffered for it. *snip* A company that wants employee feedback has the means to get it - there is no need to rely on employee initiative to report leadership problems and all the troubles that may come along with that. My company for example conducts an employee survey every year, which includes but is certainly not limited to all kinds of questions about leadership. Survey data are handled by an external specialized contractors who anonymizes and collates the data and creates a comprehensive report from it. The report's results are made accessible for all employees via company newsletter and intranet, with a comparison to the previous year's report. Company management actively works to improve in all areas that are considered problematic, including leadership. If a company truly wants to know these things and improve on them, it can be done.

Oh hey! Luke and the Inquisitor ... both one arm! The coincidences are never ending. Oh I see blue milk in Inky's future :3 And in the end, a mage will kill the big enemy dragon by teleporting (which, as we were informed, just means they're running really really fast) right through it...

Well, yeah, it kinda does, when those other people are your customers and fans. If BW's goal was A but what they did led to a large part of the audience coming to conclusion B, they failed spectacularly in what they were trying to do and may need to re-assess their position. If they stick with A, and build on A, all the while ignoring B, then all the people in B camp are going to be alienated from the story and likely unhappy with what comes next. Unhappy = not going to buy = lost customers. Oh, I don't doubt that you're right, I'm sure there's quite a few players that would feel very, very unsatisfied if it isn't their Inquisitor who resolves the Solas story arc. I'm just more pessimistic about whether BioWare will care about that... and I wonder what they'll do in the next game to "conclusively tie off the protagonist" since what they did in Trespasser obviously didn't work so well for many. Maybe they'll kill the player character just to remove all doubt and discussion... I'll blame it on me posting at 0-dark-30 before heading to work.
The long version:
You: Bioware was annoyed by fans wanting the Warden back so decided on an absolute position to "never re-use a protag"
Me: Bioware was annoyed by fans hating on ME3's endings so added "Refuse" option
My interpretation of both events: Bioware responded in a reactionary manner to fan criticism, leading them to make decisions based on their level of butthurtness rather what makes sense for the story and/or characters. IMO, choosing Refuse makes absolutely NO sense, but I like Shepard's speech there the best because it sounds like the real Shepard, not the fake one we get in all the other endings. Anyway.....
Does DA2's story, as it is written, make sense with the Warden as the main character? No. But, that doesn't mean that NO STORY EVER would make sense for the Warden to be the PC again. For Bioware to make such a snap judgment in a fit of pique is silly. [Note: I don't care one way or the other on that since I have multiple Wardens; for me, there is no "THE" Warden.]
Similarly, depending on the story we get for DA4, it may not make sense for the Inquisitor to be the main protag. However, based on what happened in Trespasser, it DOES make sense for the Inquisitor to be a very prominent (and, again IMO, playable) character in any situation dealing with Solas. For Bioware to claim otherwise is, quite frankly, just stupid.
Thank you for clarifying I don't disagree with you at all, but I've unfortunately come to believe that BioWare has gotten better at being stupid about things. For my own Inquisitor I would prefer that his story ended with Trespasser - it rarely ends well when BioWare does anything with previous protagonists, and I'd probably be a bit miffed were my Inquisitor to return and do or say out of character things without my input. BioWare just knows how to set up those no-win situations, it seems. Just wait until they get back to Mass Effect and the Andromeda vs Milky Way debate explodes...

Definitely the movie, it'll probably be shorter and not as loud as a concert. I'm good at daydreaming myself away but that wouldn't work so well when I'm surrounded by a bellowing crowd. Would you rather get a tattoo or a piercing somewhere on your face? Piercing. I'd love a nose ring. If I had a face tattoo I'd look like a meth head. Giant pet spider or pet snake? Snake all the way. Prettier to look at, very low maintenance, easily tamed. Great body or great mind?

Of course. I'm not big on playing with other people, unless we're talking about ME3's multiplayer. Right, but it isn’t just that. Those modes were separate. I like having banter while exploring, for instance. If the companions are designed to have other people jump in then there is no point in having banter. We lose that feature. That said, I don’t have the impression that this was ever a possibility discussed at BioWare. More speculation on Jason’s part. I really doubt they would go this route. Well, they could do the same thing as Left4Dead and Vermintide for example, where the characters banter despite being played by other players and without any input from those, it just happens automatically. That said, I would much prefer to have at least the option of keeping my story gameplay strictly private. And without the game telling me that I made the wrong choice.

one of the goals of Trespasser was to conclusively end the Inquisitor's story
As has been pointed out many times, what they say they wanted to achieve, and what they actually achieved, with Trespasser are not the same things.
What other people think they achieved does not matter - what they think they achieved does, because that's what the development of the next game is going to be based on. I suspect that BioWare had enough of the constant demands of the Warden returning and tried to make sure the same wouldn't happen with the Inquisitor Ah yes. "We have dismissed that claim" and will stick it to the fans once again. See "Refuse" ending for an example. I honestly don't understand how that relates to my sentence that you quoted.

Yesterday Alexios found the little town of Lalaia. It had a Xerxes problem. Alexios helped out, gave the blacksmith lady some product advice and murdered a bunch of enemy scouts in the woods. There was some mention of losses after the battle that followed, but other than that everything seemed well and Alexios moved on, content that he had done good. No flirting happened, he's not that kind of misthios.

When a proven, definite answer somehow doesn't end the debate.....4 years on There is a proven, definite answer? Where? There is a BioWare GDC video stating that one of the goals of Trespasser was to conclusively end the Inquisitor's story. I posted a screenshot of that earlier in the thread. Also, it is stated at the end of Trespasser that people Solas doesn't know yet should go up against him, so that would definitely exclude the Inquisitor anyway. That's the word from the game itself and its developers. Everything else so far is speculation. Sure, it is of course possible that BioWare decides to either reverse the Inquisitor's fate at the end of Trespasser or try something new with a differently abled protagonist, but that seems wishful thinking to me. I suspect that BioWare had enough of the constant demands of the Warden returning and tried to make sure the same wouldn't happen with the Inquisitor. And here we are.

Depends on how easy it is for people not familiar with the project to get up to speed.
We apply the throw-more-people-at-it approach a lot when a project is on fire and a deadline is comign up, and most of the time it's completely pointless. Takes more time to teach them how to work than to just do the work ourselves. But we can at least claim we tried improving a bad situation on paper. Helping out with other projects CAN make sense when we're talking about many weeks or months. If it's just for a couple of weeks or even days, it's stupid.
Project managers are people who believe that nine women can give birth to a baby in one month...

I'd prefer to be the assassin there paid to poison the Archon's wine. Only for us to discover later that we'd played right into the Archon's hands.
Turns out the guy who gave us the poison was acting directly under orders from the Archon. Not only did he already possess the antidote, but his plan all along was to use this fake assassination attempt as an excuse to purge his political enemies in the Magisterium, claiming they were the ones who ordered the hit. As long as no one wants a refund...

Think I'd rather take the halla statues... We're in Tevinter, right? Wouldn't dragon statues be a better fit? Or something dwarvish since dwarvish culture appears to be the only demihuman culture widely present in Tevinter. What about collecting some of those massive Paragon statues. Great idea, we could have an improved version of the WEWH quest. "You found the locked door? Good, now help me with the wheelbarrow."

The change to arcanes was great for me. I had bought the blueprints for four fully ranked arcanes in advance, and the hotfix turned them all into crafted items. Instant grofit! Nef Anyo would be proud.
I'm really liking the remaster too, and the bounty consoles have saved me a few loading screens already.

Almost any game can be redeemed with enough time, effort and competence. The question is how much time do they have until player numbers dwindle towards the unsustainable, how much effort is EA willing to pay for, and how much competence does BioWare have?
As far as Casey's vision about cataclysms changing the game world and all that jazz are concerned - that is very unlikely to happen. Given how BioWare constantly struggles with the Frostbite engine due to their lack of expertise with it, cataclysms will likely have a very limited effect other than changing the sky and maybe spawning a few differently coloured enemies.
However, Anthem can still be a nice casual looter-shooter that's fun to play for a bit. In my opinion, it would require the following:
- fix the bugs - implement a motivating loot progression - remove the solo play hostility - greatly reduce loading screens - rework the UI
If Anthem ever wants to move past the casual, it needs a ton more content and way more varied approaches to acquiring loot and using it in your builds.

Hey, can someone give me the tl;dr on that? Why is being on the Epic store worse than being on Steam, or Origin? In practice a game just runs regardless.of store, doesn't it? 1) Bringing console wars to PC with exclusivity deals, for one. Not that that is brand new, but Epic store is particularly egregious in this regard. 2) Client has absolutely horrible security. 3) Client is feature-bare and does not improve on anything that the competitors do. That's my best quick summary. Lots of articles on it. My personal favourite however is 4) Chinese conglomerate Tencent owns a 40% share of Epic Games, and I first encountered the name Tencent when removing some rather insistent spyware from my nephew's computer. He was playing League of Legends at that time, and Riot Games is 100% owned by Tencent.

I'm glad he brought that up, because it really needs to be hammered home that fanboyism is one of the major factors enabling this garbage. Anyone using words like "hater" or "toxic" to refer to someone who doesn't like a game and gives valid reasons for that isn't just a fanboy but a complete drone so deep in denial, out of touch with reality and their head so deep in a dark, warm place that they've probably forgotten what the sun looks like by now.

As far as I understand, conquest battles are merely a chance for your character to profit. Neither Sparta nor Athens seem to remember any raids on their forts or conquest battles against them that you participated in.
The only thing to consider, as far as I discovered so far, is this: supporting the attacking side is harder since their strength bar decreases faster during the battle but awards you better loot (two items instead of one etc). A local regime change can also open up new fetch quests in the area. And that's it.
I just raid forts when I feel like it, and generally pick the attacker in conquest battles for a bigger payoff. I'm a mercenary after all.
And to keep on topic, what did I do today in Odyssey? Killed some malakas (various). Talked to others. Admired the reflection of the sunset on my shiny armour.

Forcing studios to use Frostbite without proper support and knowhow-building is essentially mismanagement at a publisher level - another layer of mismanagement on top of BioWare's own. No wonder the end results are disastrous.

Such a bad answer from BioWare. Total silence would be better. They really are damaging themselves from one side and from the other how come bioware and their games becomes a heated debate always? Mediocre games come everyday, Crunch times are in all studios. God of war, RDR2 to name a few, but no one cared because these games were received extremely well.. You see the industry have double standards Crunch time is always, always bad, and I hate the thought that someone worked to bring me a product that I enjoyed and paid with their time and sanity for it. But I also feel that there's something especially awful about a crunch time that was not caused by a huge ambitious project not meeting a deadline but by an inept management that basically just faffed about for five years without any vision or direction, and then finally ends in a disastrous release. Because that robs the developers of the satisfaction of having produced something worthwhile, as small of a consolation that may be. Of course, on the other hand, if crunch time results in a great and successful product, it will be extremely likely to happen again with their next project because hey, it worked last time, right? "BioWare magic". Crunch time sucks.

In this case I think it refers to a colour grading related Lookup Table, a practice in coding that stores pre-computed values in memory instead of calculating them at runtime to save processing time.
