Neither is flaming them or saying they suck. Generalization is a beautiful thing. I'm pretty sure EA and Bioware are sophisticated enough about the interwebz to realize the abundant number of idiots and trolls out there. I've seen very few "this sucks the end" type threads and posts on these forums. The majority of the critical posts and threads have had specific issues and suggestions for improvement. Heaping praise on a flawed product isn't going to do anything but net you more flawed product.

game that became a internet joke even before release. Doesn't that, in and of itself, tell you something? A few mean-spirited memesters and various other clickbait trolls predisposed the audience to hate on the game. And it worked. I don't deny that MEA is flawed, and I can understand that it disappointed in some ways - but I also think that people's expectations were out of line. A lot of people seemed to want Ryder to be Shepard, and expected MEA to be structured like ME2 & ME3 - even though they started touting the Nomad and exploration themes a couple of years ago. I just think the backlash is way overblown - and it may have done severe damage to the franchise.

The Know covered the story well and hopefully the new project Dylan is as good as Bioware wants it to be. They also have no one else to blame but themselves for MEA downfall. Haha...wow, these two. Anyway, so "The Know" is quoting "Kotaku" (whose author had backtracked a bit) quoting "Unnamed Sources"...ok, sounds legit

Nah, EA has been trying to move BW away from RPG games into more streamlined action games they can easily tack MP and micro-transactions onto. A lukewarm reception to MEA just gave them an excuse to speed that up, nothing more. At least I still have Bethesda for RPGs I guess I guess is appropriate. If it weren't for the modders, none of those games would be great. None. However, that's the beauty of it all, the game is still being played way after development is done and people are purchasing the game because of the modding available. The games, in vanilla form, are at best a 6 or a 7. With the accompanied DLC, add another point. With modding, add another point. In Fallout 4's case, modders get two points because they actually bridged the gap with settlements and main questing with Sim Settlements, Blueprint Transfers, etc. Bethesda is a publisher that you have to wait until the development cycle is over because the game is broken in too many ways at launch.

It wouldn't be the first reboot (soft or otherwise) to have such a legacy.
It's not like the entirety of Mass Effect will be remembered like this anyway. Deus Ex is still referenced positively despite its less-than-stellar sequel Invisible War. Same goes for The Matrix. And unless hating on the OT out of some desperate attempt to reconcile the cognitive dissonance aroused by Andromeda's mediocrity becomes vogue (which it won't), the same will happen here.
Forgetful games will be forgotten, and Andromeda is simply that. We'll still be dealing with the "BioWare is dead" sort of comments for years to come, though. That kinda sucks.

I actually feel kind of guilty now. I critized this game a lot, because it really could have been so much better, but I never wanted it to die. The thought of it never getting any DLCs makes me a bit sad. Anyway, I hope that article is bullshit. Nah, don't feel bad. Criticism is a legitimate response. I liked ME:A, generally speaking, but that didn't stop me from criticizing all the things I didn't like. If criticism alone were enough to get a game canned, barely any games would get made nowadays. ME:A had legit, serious issues, and maybe a hiatus will help them address some of those if they choose to make another game in the IP.

It's clear that Bioware decided they could walk over any sort of logic in the trilogy to make Andromeda happen. They wanted a new start so badly that they didn't even try to explain things. Not only the Arks were impossible and illogical for many reasons, but people that we know in the trilogy knew about them but it was never mentioned, even if there were many, many opportunities to do so. And for what? To create a mediocre, ok-ish game that became a internet joke even before release. To get the franchise to put on hold by EA. It's sad and funny that I was seeing the very first official trailer again, from E3'15, and remembering how I felt that day. The hope, the excitiment of a new Mass Effect game. And that hope was slowly destroyed long before the game came out. But still, even after 100 hours in the main campaign I still wanted to believe that if I just gave the game more time, if I just tried harder it would be all worth it. Well, it wasn't. For me, for many, and for EA. A shame to see my favorite, no, by beloved franchise die, ot at least go into a coma, like this. Is Bioware capable of learning from this? Will there be another upheaval again in employee turnover again? I don't care. I wanted my fix, and I got bunk. The DLC will come and if it doesn't... just kill me now.

"All said and done, Andromeda's Legacy for the Mass Effect Franchise is one of fans spewing hyperbole as fact, SJW garbage that isn't even there, and an overall good game being destroyed by players despite the fact there are much, much, much, much worse games out there" Okay I fixed the thread for you.

Gee that is a bit melodramatic, no?
I have quite a bit of criticisms for this game but at the end of the day it still is a solid game overall. It's just not this giant pile of burning dog crap that people make it out to be. In fact, it stacks up to a lot of games out there. Maybe not to the Witcher (I've never played it personally despite owning it) or Horizion, but since when was that the only measuring stick? I really do believe that people hate on Andromeda just to hate on it along with everybody else that does it.

Mass Effect Andromeda is not a bad game. I don't know why that's hard for the internet to accept. ...because it's your opinion? Why does "the internet" need to accept your opinion as their own? I don't think MEA is a "bad" game either, but some people do, and they are entitled to feel that way. Not everyone has to like the same things that you like. (Note, I'm not saying that they are entitled to curse, bully, threaten, or just generally act like maladjusted overgrown children over it...just that they are entitled to think the game isn't all that great, if that is how they feel.) ----------------- As for the thread...aren't we getting a little ahead of ourselves? The doom and gloom portion of the article appears to be mostly based on hearsay, unless I am missing something. For the rest, it makes sense to shuffle staff around to give the other IPs -- the ones next in line for release -- more manpower now that MEA is out and has had a few patches.

Right, blame the fans for criticizing a shoddy product. Sounds legit. Like ignoring a bully really will make him go away. If the fans aren't able to behave like adults and offer constructive feedback for a product that they as fans are supposed to like, then yes I blame them of blowing the evident flaws of the game out of proportion. The game had its problems but they are not preventing from enjoying a good albeit not outstanding experience. I Personally think ME:A is a good game and have not any noticeable issues with the game other than a minor helmet glitch issue, but I think there are a lot of different reasons for that. I don't think it's so much the fans of Mass Effect that had the biggest issues with ME:A as much as it was fans who are disgruntled with Bioware as a whole. For the past 3 years SWTOR hasn't been getting the resources and content that it deserves as far as most of their fans are concerned. And I guess they are showing that they didn't learn their lesson from their problems with DA:Inquisitions launch by not polishing the game prior to release. Just think if they delayed ME:A until after the patch it could of been placed at a "Really good game" level instead of the mediocre status that apparently plagues it. I'm more worried now for the new ip that Bioware is putting out as well as the future of the studio.

"Our teams at BioWare and across EA put in tremendous effort bringing Mass Effect Andromeda to players around the world. Even as BioWare continues to focus on the Mass Effect Andromeda community and live service, we are constantly looking at how we’re prepared for the next experiences we will create. The teams in EA Worldwide Studios are packed with talent, and more than ever, we are driving collaboration between studios on key projects. With our BioWare and Motive teams sharing studio space in Montreal, we have BioWare team members joining Motive projects that are underway. We’re also ramping up teams on other BioWare projects in development."

Accurate and trusted source for me is someone who's got track record to prove it, like shinobi (who confirmed it). Kotaku it ain't

Well done Melcara you probably got my favourite franchise shut down for saying critical things on the internet about it. If only you just kept quiet and enjoyed the game for what it was instead of having your own personal expectations and standards you savage. This has triggered me immensely. I would like reparations please for me and my family.
