Repeating what I said in the Twitter thread. If EA/Bioware are smart, they'll jump headfirst into the sequel and make it the top notch, AAA polished experience that Andromeda should have been, and get it out within two to three years. Skip nonsense that takes up a bunch of unnecessary development time, like they tried to do with Andromeda in having randomly instanced worlds (and failed), and focus on the main crux of the story and gameplay. Work on the gravy after you've perfected the mashed potatoes. Nothing fixes a franchise like a superior sequel that serves as a palette cleanser. DAMN STRAIGHT. Admit the faults, address them and keep trying. Money will always follow Bioware as long as they stick to the fundamentals.

Honestly, I wouldn't mind. I suggested this after ME3 already. Let it sit for a while, let it rest. THen come back with something new and fresh. Not sure if it makes so much sense to do it now but I don't mind. Also, letting Montreal go back to the support role that they came from is probably a good idea. I haven't seen anything come out of that BW studio that could really hold a candle to what the Edmonton guys used to do. So if this turns out to be true, I'm ok with it. Obviously, if they do downsize and as a result people are being let go, I do hope they'll have no trouble finding jobs elsewhere quickly. I am not saying I want people fired, I am just saying that this team as it was put together for this project, while making a fun game, didn't quite hold up to the standard that I would like to see for future ME games. You're suggesting there would be future ME games. If this article is even 50% true, that means no more ME, ever. So you'd rather have no more ME? No it doesn't. It just means that they have no current plans for it. The chances of them scrapping the IP altogether is negligible and the article is only speculating on that, and incidentally even disagrees with you... "That doesn't mean there will never be another Mass Effect game, of course. It's unlikely that BioWare will kill the popular sci-fi franchise. But BioWare is letting Mass Effect sit for a while rather than putting staff on Andromeda's follow-up right away, those sources said. "All in all, I can see where EA are coming from. They need to figure out where they are taking things rather than rush in again with the current team. Even though I enjoyed the game, I still feel there were significant flaws and significant high level managerial and directional mistakes.

There's a lot of cool things in this game but there's also a lot of horrible things about it. Sucking bioware's nuts without criticizing them wouldn't've helped either.

If Mr. Rodriguez would let me finish... Sorry. On topic: it's nothing new that BioWare staff gets reshuffled once the product is out of the door. Wasn't that the reason why DAI's post launch support was rather poor? People got reassigned and some skeleton crew got to fix whatever bugs they could. This is likely the same thing again. That said, BioWare might want to look into hiring more competent management. Their last two games did have a vibe of mismanagement about them.

Hell, try playing the trilogy now... graphics are choppy, facial animations are not amazing anymore, and there are STILL bugs.

The franchise is too iconic and successful. Even if that were their plan now (and I doubt it), I am sure someone would pick it up eventually and go "hey, we didn't make money out of this in a while, let's go for it."

Mass Effect would have been done untile the 2020s even if Andromeda had been widely received as a 11/10 best thing to happen since the smallpox vaccination campaign.

So we are not getting a Dragon Age game and we are also not getting a Mass Effect game. Are we getting anything? Lets hope it's an April fools joke. Less an April Fools joke and more of Laidlaw being Laidlaw. He's made it abundantly clear in the past that he does not like to talk about games while in planning or development. I've watched his Twitch streams some (he does a really good indie RPG Saturday) and it seems to be a thing that will make him an unhappy camper. Which isn't surprising when you consider how many requests he probably receives about them. There must be an ocean of them from the fan base.

If EA/Bioware are smart, they'll jump headfirst into the sequel and make it the top notch That problem is that it takes top notch talent to make a top notch game. Bioware does not have that at the moment. At least not in their DA and Mass Effect teams.

Mass Effect would have been done untile the 2020s even if Andromeda had been widely received as a 11/10 best thing to happen since the smallpox vaccination campaign. Remember Bioware is working in two other games: New IP codename Dylan (lol) and next Dragon Age. So no way to make another Mass Effect right after this one.

I could get behind this, though I hope they stick to a 3 yr dev cycle. It seems to be the length of time that works well for them. I'm still not sure why they thought procedural instanced worlds were a good idea to try in a Mass Effect game but I am glad they abandoned the idea before release. I suppose it just goes to show how powerful the NMS hype train was.
