Well... if you love it like Paul does, you're going to be playing it for a long time. That's his new addiction. Before that it was ZOMG Witcher. Then before that it was ZOMG The Last of Us. Rockstar is cinematic in motion, but Bioware can do better. Those games are amazing though. I think they're masterpieces of the genre. 

Yea, I think I will be hooked with Horizon for sure, on PS4 Naughty dog (Uncharted series, Last of Us) and Quantic Dream (Heavy Rain, Beyond Two Souls) really are great companies, really looking forward to Quantic Dreams new game coming out called Detroit - Become Human. 

I have made my opinion of MEA (and more recently ME3 since I started playing it again) abundantly clear on these forums, so I won't get into it here. I think the problem with MEA goes back to corporate culture and what it means to be a publicly traded company.

We all know that a publicly traded company the size of EA is under pressure from shareholders to increase profits year after year, just like we know that this perogative for growth relies on big name titles being churned out at a reliable rate. A lot of my problems with MEA are the same as those of EP7 of Star Wars. The story follows a very safe equation of playing on people's nostalgia while sticking to a very bland story. There is no reason for there to be a robotic thresher maw on Elaadan, no reason for there to be Krogan, no reason for an ambassador choice....etc. So the game tells a very safe linear story while including enough elements from the OT to feed on people'se nostalgia...you hear of a movie 'by the numbers' - I see MEA as a game 'by the numbers'. It was good and entertaining, but a popcorn version of its predecessors. I personally think the remnant vaults were a shortcut that made us miss out on a gritty story of survival and hard choices.

Corporations like EA are robots that prioritize shareholder value, not player experience. And I feel its exactly the kind of corporate environment where someone can pitch buzz words like 'open world' and receive approval without delivering what is needed to make an open world succesful. The devil is in the details, it always has been - but its a fact that always gets left behind in larger corporations. EA either destroyed or diminished every company or IP it bought, and I think it was naive of us to think that Bioware's content would not gradually meet the same fate as Origin or Westwood.

So long story short, EA is accountable.

Edit: Please don't construe my comment as saying Bioware should not have been sold to EA. I think lots of people there worked very hard for very little to create the kind of value they could cash out on later in life. Its just the inevitable cycle that takes hold when a small artistic and innovative company finds success and gets bought out.

Laugh if you want, but all of this political/gender/sexuality codswallop has cost Bioware my custom, oh yes it has! So, if Bioware is forced to shut its doors because of, say, a $300 revenue shortfall, then it all comes back to me.

Extracting to Tempest doesn't work after 1.06 unless you DRIVE THE NOMAD OFF A CLIFF FIRST.  Which makes it REAL FUN on H-047c.

There are some issues that persist from ME1 until now that have nothing to do with technology or animation, just simple writing. At the end of ME1, they made you choose an ambassador, and then made that choice irrelevant. I did not actually mind that as hindsight is 20/20. But then they kept doing it! Should Kasumi keep the greybox or delete it? Irrelevant! Its been 5 years since the OT and at the end of MEA what do they do? Give you an ambassador choice that nearly everyone agrees will be irrelevant. They just can't help themselves!

Stuff like keep/destroy the collector base was ok, and destroying was so worth it just to stick it to TIM in a few lines of dialogue. But those other choices? Would anyone have cared if they did not get to choose the ambassador (In ME1 or MEA) or tell Kasumi what to do with her greybox?? But like I said, they can't help themselves! In 2025 we will be asked to pick the colour of the drapes and the same BW apoligists will say we have real choices.
