<<<<<<<<<<(0)>>>>>>>>>> True. I remember that as well. Also, it was either Mac or Aaron that said the make is to get you from point A to point B quickly and made no mention of any defensive / offensive capabilities. Absence of evidence is not evidence. Just because they didn't talk about any kind of armament we can't conslude the New Mako has none. <<<<<<<<<<(0)>>>>>>>>>> Hm... I just came across an old article discussing the leaks (Shinobi maybe) that mentioned the Mako has shields.

I just hope that each member of the crew has their own quarters or proper place to rest instead of always standing around somewhere. I agree. It would've been nice to see Samantha move around. Even have a scene with her on the Citadel Each crewmember having his/her own quarters would take up a lot of space. I don't see that happening. I can see having crew quarters similiar to what is seen on the SR2

If it has shields, something's gotta be firing at it, if something's firing at it, you've gotta have a way to fire back. Sorry to disappoint you but on images or early build videos there's no cannons on it so if nothing changed we will not fire back at anything.

The Tempest looks so awesome and sleek in this shot: As for the image in the OP, I'm not a fan. That underbelly just looks terrible. I'm hoping that it is much smaller in the actual game. It's an awesome shot, yes, but I can't say I'm a fan of how... squished the Tempest looks. Like someone put it in a waffle-maker The underbelly does look rather odd, I agree. Be nice to see it from some other angles, preferably in a video, to get a better sense of it. <<<<<<<<<<(0)>>>>>>>>>> Has anyone noticed Ryder's stance? Is he getting ready for the "Quick Draw"? His elbows are drawn back... = not a natural arm pose when relaxed. Oh no, it's going to be like DA:I's awkward odd "relaxed" animations again, isn't it? Hoping it's just a pose for the picture.

Having the mako without any defenses is bad. Looking at the new mako, I doudt it can have a large cannon because of the weight. I could see a small cannon like a 25mm like what the M2/3 Bradley has. Or have some kind of gatling gun something like the M134 GAU 17 "Vulcan". Very good weapon Weight is a funny concern for a vehicle with ME fields. I'm not saying it couldn't matter, since we don't know if they're usually being used, but if they are, a little more "weight" won't mean anything. Weapon weight similarly made no sense.

Its not only the weight, but the space to have a large cannon. A larger cannon would take up more space than a smaller size cannon and looking at the size of the mako, there would be no room for anyone. A 25mm cannon would be fine or even a gatling gun

Do you have a link to where they said that? (because i don't remember hearing this) Here: At 6:15 Mike explicitly states it has no cannon.

Here: At 6:15 Mike explicitly states it has no cannon. And here it is... I guess it is possible that he was talking about a cannon specifically, presumably as it does not fit the theme of agility and speed?... Maybe a internal load of homing missiles, or something similar to a GARDIAN laser? Meh. Anyway, if it actually means no weapons, I really don't see the point of using a Mako as opposed to a shuttle. Literally a time waster. Basically, it brought back an issue from ME1. ME3 and to some extent ME2 were criticized for having no exploring like ME1. You can't really do that if you're dropped on top of enemy strongholds with a shuttle and you simply leave when you've cleared it out. That the original Mako had a weapon didn't really change the fact that we often had to traverse a lot of terrain unnecessarily, because we got dropped off really far from the objectives.

Agreed. Bio's decision to design the Mako stripped of offensive weapons is puzzling. Maybe weapons for the Mako are an upgrade? I remember reading that it's possible for us to customise our Mako, so maybe the base model doesn't come with weapons but they can be added later.

If it doesn't have any weapons to begin with, that's bad. It doesn't have to have a cannon as I said in this thread. It can have a gatling gun like the one I mentioned. If they have that, it would have to be able to rotate 360°. The same if the player is able to upgrade to a cannon.

Maybe it's like the batmobile(Arkham Knight) that can fire seeking missiles while in "drive" mode.
But it kinda makes sense if the main objective is exploration and stabilish a Milky Way races colony on Andromeda that we don't go heavily armed. Not talking about not having any means of defense but it certainly helps a lot if we don't unite all the Andromeda races against us by looking like a invading space force from outer of galaxy.

Strange but true indeed. Guess the vehicle is just to make exploration faster then. Theoretically, mounts did that in DAI. There were still bears to deal with. What do we do about landscape mobs? Get out of the Mako to fight them??? Like we dismounted to fight mobs? Can't be. There has to be some kind of weapons system. It'd be ridiculous to have an exploratory vehicle in a frontier setting with no weaponry. Maybe you don't start with it. They've said in other presentations that you can customize the Mako, after all. But you have to be able to have it at some point.

Remember this?
"...To survive and colonise the wild reaches of space, you will need to grow your arsenal, your ship, your crew and make strategic (and often uneasy) alliances to fight against increasingly menacing foes. ..."
I get the feeling that the Tempest is designed for space combat.. that we need to upgrade its defensive and offensive capabilities. We may yet get a space mission that involves the Tempest shooting at something.

I'm not totally sure what the obsession over having cannons is. Defense reasons aside, the only time the cannons were "necessary" was actually none. Okay, no, there was a time or two with the Thresher Maw where you had to kill it in order to find out what happened at the particular site but for the most part, the cannons didn't have a real use. Anything smaller than the Threshers could be handled on foot, assuming there was adequate coverage.

I suspect that the lack of weaponry on the Mako emphasizes the point that this is not a military expedition. I reckon we have limited access to any kind of advanced military vehicles or equipment. It's all about exploration and colonization. Even the Tempest, as I understand it, is not a Warship.
Obviously it's going to be a shooter which implies there will be a lot of combat but I guess we need to build on our combat ability. We aren't an elite squad of N7 quality fighters fighting on the front line of a Galactic war with all the latest advanced weaponry at our beck and call.
It's a different mindset and an unarmed Mako is part of that.
