I agree. I would point out that no one at EA or Bioware actually used the term "hiatus" or anything similar. That came from unverified sources in a Kotaku article which had been edited several times now due to its inaccuracies at posting. EA also did not say that they are not working on MEA:2 in their earnings report. Just alluded to that they are not going into full-scale production at the moment, instead using Bioware Montreal employees to shore up their current development on soon-to-be-released games. Expecting a new ME before 2020 was always crazy, and so in this they can help finish projects due by 2019. There could be writers and concept artists working on MEA:2 currently, as those people would not be necessary to work on games like Battlefront 2 and the far-along-in-development "Dylan". I think once they get a handle on "Dylan" and then announce development of the new Dragon Age title in the next year or so, by 2019 we will hear that MEA:2 is in development with a 2021 release window. This is my impression too. And think about it... how many time sensitive games do they need to pair with movie releases. That Star Wars contract has to be a bitch to manage. I'm also betting there are some interesting penalties if they don't have windowed releases with movies... and I'm not just talking about VIII and IX. Bioware / EA own ME, so they can approach it however they want (timelines, staff, investment). This isn't the case with a rented IP from Disney.

Until BioWare come out and say "The last weeks worth of news reported in every gaming news outlet in existence is not correct." Assume it to be correct. They could kill off the talk about it with one tweet. They haven't. *Searches the liquor cabinet* Yeah let's live in a world like that, where everybody can just claim everything and it's true until someone else says it isn't.

I've said it'll just continue till EA/Bioware answer it. So far I've seen people reference EAs quarterly earning where they said they were happy and such (while ignoring sales to andromeda but giving out info on all their other games). That was before this kotaku article came out though. Have yet to see anything after the article came out from them.
Either way, I can't believe anything till there's more sources but this fiasco just continues till EA/Bioware talk about it.

Well no, you're just a poster on some website... Surely you see the irony here, right? I mean, you have to see the irony here. Seriously, Kotaku has edited the article fucking twice. Twice! That's not bona fide, that's straight up speaking out of their ass at this point. Wouldn't be the first time. I'm basically there for the funny commentary, or at least, it used to be funny. You know something is off when a key word used on other sites reporting on this go back to Kotaku's article, only to find that word being merely an interpretation rather than a direct quote. Suddenly it's flat fact.

For everyone saying it's true because Bioware or EA has not said it's not true well this isn't the first time a game developer haven't confirmed or denied a rumor. Anyone remember Survivor 2299? Everyone was reporting it was the next Fallout and Bethesda never confirmed or denied it. Well fast forward a few weeks and it turned out to be just a rich asshole trolling the Internet. This article at best feels like Kotaku just jumping on the bash MEA train or at least adding more fuel to it.

Bottom line is this is EA. If EA thinks there is more money to milk out of Mass Effect there isn't going to be any hiatus. From all accounts MEA did fine sales wise. EA isn't going to just walk away and leave money lying on the table.

Has Kotaku or any news soruce for that matter put legitimate proof that Mass Effect is going on hiatus? EA has already said that they were happy twice.

I've been scoping as much of the news as I can, and I can't find anything that refers to anything other than the now heavily-edited Kotaku article.

EA isn't going to just walk away and leave money lying on the table. Meh. Think you're thinking of the EA of old. EA is, or is at least attempting to become more player friendly. EA knows the score, and whether you like them or not, you gotta give 'em that. What they'll prolly do is give BioWare another shot at making another ME game right after they have a trilogy remaster, and using the profits from the remaster they'll give it another go. If it goes well, then hey great. If it doesn't, then they are gonna shut it down for good.

EA is a business, a business is supposed to make money, a popular and highly acclaimed series like ME is an instant money maker that basically sells itself. People would buy brown bags of dog poop if you put the words MASS EFFECT across the top of the bag. EA isn't going to let one mediocre release stop the series in its tracks.

Haven't really been paying attention to the hiatus "news". But if they don't release a game in a few years and they're concentrating on other games that could also be misconstrued as a hiatus.
Anyway, it seems like people are blowing this out of proportion. It's not like the "news" was that they would stop making Mass Effect games altogether

But that's what I'm saying. EA knows how it appears to people. EA also knows the score when it comes to releasing games. EA also knows what happens next time they release a buggy product like this.
And dude, since about 2011 ish, they have been working on a Mass Effect game.
They went straight from ME3 directly into MEA. So this is like huge news.

Eh, again haven't really been paying attention. But has anyone from EA said anything about a hiatus? Or even another site that doesn't cite Kotauku? Other than direct quotes from an EA suit that spun positive investor-speak, a big, fat Drack "No." EA's PR and Marketing are doing what they always do... nothing. The article has been out for days and they still haven't come up with a response while everyone YouTuber on the planet is making videos (derp, unsubscribe, derp, unsubscribe, derp, unsubscribe, derp, unsubscribe, etc.) about how Bioware is flailing at the wind while golden children like Bethesda (Prey) and Sony (Horizon Zero Dawn) insert ads about their game. Maybe it's payback for the embargo. Maybe, everyone sees what I see, a bunch of douchebags who have no idea what they're marketing except as a commodity. Maybe it's me. I can write a Kotaku article on that naming SIX unnamed sources and lift quotes from Glassdoor, but I'm actually invested in the art they make.

considering the meaning of the word hiatus, i think it would good news if it were true. A hiatus , as in a pause usually implies a continuity. BW and EA should pause and think where they are going with Andromeda so they can put it on the right track and resume with a successful sequel. They know what's wrong by now, ( well here's hoping ) , but between that and deciding what to do in a next game there is a huge step, needs time.
