Making this game was always going to be risky from the start. We liked the ME trilogy because of it's story and it's well written characters. Now Imagine if Marvel released Avengers: Infinity War and replaced all the cast from all the Marvel films that will be in this movie, it would fail. Capcom and Ninja Theory tried to reboot Devil May Cry and it flopped hard because it didn't need to be rebooted, nobody wanted a new Dante. I kind of feel like Andromeda was forced just because people didn't want to say good bye to Mass Effect.

I'm happy with ME:A for the most part. Bioware Montreal is a young dev team and Andromeda was a big project for them on a new engine. If the Andromeda series continues, I think it will only improve.

I adore the mass effect universe from the games to books to the comics. I would gladly pay any amount for more mass effect.
Sadly MEA wasn't up to the standards i would expect from games past and present. This was not the fault of too much of a good thing. No this is the fault of poor work and a green crew.
Take our beloved assassin creed series all gold until unity. Unity was plagued with a green team and one buggy as hell project. But then boom they really cracked the whip and gave us syndicate and it is on par with black flag.
Mass effect should continue but they require alot of work to get back.

I did, I just didn't agree with many of their design choices. It's like it was written with 15 year olds as their main target audience... Like how characters are very incompetent/stupid/have bad attitudes and forced drama - all symptoms of bad writing that needs shit like that to get stuff moving. With that said, I still like the main parts of it, and think it was a valiant attempt. Now, if they'd actually bothered to do some serious facial animations/textures, fix the at times bad gfx and do away with the SP mmo style, and focus on more "fulfilling" quest lines, I would stamp it "great succes!". Now I'm just hoping/praying for a mod that removes/autocompletes the worst 90% of the filler "quests". As a sidenote; I've read multiple times complaining about the VA in this game, which I don't get at all - VA is very solid, as always, with a BioWare game. Another thing I don't get is why HZD gets a pass for it's atrocious stiff faces and bad VAing? Still seems like a good game, sadly (and luckily), I'm a PC peasant.

But why would Infinity War not involve any of the central cast of the previous Avenger films? They're all still perfectly alive and their story threads are incomplete. The same isn't true of the Mass Effect trilogy characters. Their stories all came to an end when the reaper war did.

I have no problem with Mass Effect moving on, just as I had no problem with Star Trek moving on. I liked the premisse and overall got my enjoyment out of the game. So it's certainly not that I wanted Shepard and nothing else.
That being said, I see whole lot of wasted potential that would have made the game great instead of just OK. I won't repeat each and every gripe I had, since I already posted them in the appropriate threads. There's only one main problem I have, not even compared to the Mass Effect series, but as compared to the usual Bioware standards. I always loved the companions. To a more or lesser degree. In this game everyone of them leaves me cold.

Yes I really want another ME because despite its flaws MEA was an enjoyable experience to which I hope they will improve in the next sequel and get more of it. Improving what was done and continuing the plot with the squad we got.
If you really don't want another ME then you are free to quit playing and move on to something else.

If it is done by the same people, hell no. Which may be the major reason for the mixed reception. They shouldn't have outsourced one of their crown jewels to a supporting studio that only worked on DLCs so far. I'm sure they are good people, but they obviously lacked experience in telling the small stories, developing unique characters, that always made you smile. The overall arc of the storyline isn't better or worse than any previous ME game.

I maintain the Pathfinder should have been opening and repairing Mass Relays after the big one and a destroy ending.
Reset the milky way from scratch because catalyst ending cut everyone off from each other for 1200 years.
Maybe one day I'll win lotto and start my own video game company.
And tweet, soon....

Depends. If they kick the ball down the road to a point where things are more established, new technology, etc, maybe. But another game in the fledgling days of Andromeda, just the Angara as a new race, just the Kett as enemies, same protagonist, same squad, I wouldn't be interested.

I was excited to see more from the Mass Effect universe in development. Despite my initial anger at the original ending of ME3, I thought Bioware regained my trust and respect when they released the Extended Cut for free, and I thought both Leviathan and Citadel were great. I felt disappointment at the thought of never seeing these races or universe again. Andromeda, for me, met and exceeded my expectations. I thoroughly enjoy the game to the point that I finished a 71 hour, 96% complete play through and immediately started another to see what I might have missed... turns out I missed a lot so far.
I'm glad Bioware took the risk and created Andromeda. Even if rumors, which I don't really buy in to, that Mass Effect has been shelved and nothing more will come from it for the foreseeable future, I'm glad I got this iteration to enjoy.
I would note that after ME3's development cycle and DLC ended, I stopped frequenting the original BSN and kind of lost touch with the gaming community. I only found out about Andromeda's release some time early last year but I didn't really watch any trailers, other than maybe one, and didn't follow the development cycle like I did with ME3 for example. I think that makes a HuGE difference because I literally had no hype or knowledge of what the game would be. Bonus points that I thoroughly enjoy it, like the story and characters and think it's a worthy entry to the Mass Effect saga. Hype ruins everything. Nothing will ever live up to it.

I think the potential was there for Mass Effect to expand beyond the first three games. The universe is so detailed and broad.
But you can say that about a lot of great series. So many great trilogy's have tried to expand beyond their initial saga(The Hobbit films, Star Wars prequels, Gears of war)and ultimately achieved lukewarm results. It seems like a genuinely difficult thing to do.

Yes, because the only other IP I really like is JE, and they never really got it together for another JE game. The Shadowrun IP (iirc that was the title) was not appealing to me, and we know nothing of Dylan. I can't see another lightsabre, so SWTOR is out. I've never really like DA setting, it always felt too patchy, disjointed and inconsistent. So, there is really nothing else but ME. I was glad to see Andromeda, and I will play DLCs and sequels.

The Mass Effect Universe is huge and there is billion things that Bioware can do in this World. Bioware builded a huge and complex World, the Mass Effect Universe and anything can happen in the future so yes, of course im waiting for the next Mass Effect game. But i expect a 10/10 AAA RPG title that will give a rope not only for the future of the Mass Effect franchise but it will going to be a good example how to build a western style Character oriented action RPG.

"Did we really/want another Mass Effect game?"
Hell yes, enjoyed 2 playthroughs (90 hours each) + same again in multiplayer.
Looking forward to the next one in 2021 or so...

I kind of feel like Andromeda was forced just because people didn't want to say good bye to Mass Effect. Risky? Why? Do not see any risk involved. ME have (had) the potential to establish some decent universum, sadly BW killed ME Milky Way in the most stupid way, destroying all bridges behind them, they had to move somewhere else, MEA provided that. The premise is solid. Your comparison lacks... MEA is a whole new story, new characters, it is not just a replacement of current characters (yah, that would most likely suck, but it could work out). MEA "failed" (if we want to call it that) because of many different reasons (like unpolished, underdeveloped content) and not because it was "forced".

I absolutely wanted more and still do now. I see no reason not to if the demand is still there and bioware is interested. The ME franchise has so many ways to go about things because of its setting. Being in space, able to traverse the galaxy and or galaxies gives so many stories to tell. I think it's an issue if people see Mass Effect was all about Shepard and the OT as that limits the franchise so much when there's more more to play around with, not to mention Mass Effect isn't as iconic as halo, Mario, Zelda and it can get away with changing its protagonist because of that.

Everyone wanted a new mass effect game on the old BSN. I remember the whole let it end with Shepard's story vs. "But the Mass Effect universe is bigger than Shepard blah blah blah" So yes, most people wanted this game.
Did we need it? Eh. To just leave the series with Shepard's story would've felt like a huge waste considering the universe does have so much lore and depth.

I kind of feel like Andromeda was forced just because people didn't want to say good bye to Mass Effect. Why is everybody trying to compare ME3 to Andromeda? Why is everybody trying to compare Shepard to Ryder. Both games and characters are different for a reason, and BioWare explained this before Andromeda came out. I don't know about you, or the other people posting here, but I didn't want to have the same characters from the ME trilogy in Andromeda. I've played enough Andromeda to have connected to Drake, Cora and Peebee. It was an awesome experience playing their side missions to get to 100 percent trust with them. Regarding another ME game, yes, of course, why not??? I don't agree with you that Andromeda was forced by BioWare. Ryder is nothing like Shepard and the other friendly AI have no similarities as well, well except for Drake, who reminds me of Wrex. I do miss him! People just wanted an ME universe with new enemies, a new storyline, and improved gameplay. I feel we got all of that and more with Andromeda. I'm at the point in the game where I'm completing side missions before I finish the Meridian main mission. I can't stop playing it. So, YES, bring on more!!!

No but I sure want another DA game, those are good even with next to no resources. I've put soooooo many hours into DA, specifically Inquisition, but just can't finish it. I end up getting bored to death, or, find that the missions are impossible to beat, and then just give up. I love games "like" that, just can't get into it. I'll have to give it yet another try.
