MEA is probably the only 2017 release I'll play this year so... that's an easy one.
I'm tempted by HZD and BotW but I'm not buying a console for one frickin game.

I can't really think of anything major for me besides MEA. Project Dylan? And I'm not going to buy a console for one game either. I have checked HZD and BotW on twitch some and they don't look thrilling enough. I will get back into POE when The fall of Oriath is released though! And I have to check out Morrowind in TESO! And of course ther smaller Necromancer for DIII. Capital D in gaming does NOT stand for Destiny but DIABLO!

Andromeda is stomping the competition this year and I see no game that could challenge it until Bioware's next major release. I thought Zelda and Persona 5 were the only chances, but Zekda ended up being absolute shit and Persona 5 a mess of poor ideas and bad writing. There could be a surprise out there but I doubt it... Never laughed so hard before........ Andromeda has sold ok based on the use of the Mass Effect name. Both Zelda and Persona 5 both sold well on the name and game play. Not saying that MEA didn't hit their projected goals. Because EA definitely seems to feel they have. But the future installments in the Mass Effect franchise will be under heavy flak from MEA. Especially how much MEA has copped from it's writing and less than sub par setup to the poor launch. I am a huge Mass Effect fan from books, comics , animated movie and the games. Honestly though never have i been more disappointed in a game than with MEA. Although i have finished two plays i still have a few missions left and they have not fixed to this day the crash bug with contagion. Meaning if DLC drops i can't use my 2nd play Ryder because i can't leave the nexus without an error. I am still holding my last hope that the DLC will still happen. As well as them sorting out the unanswered questions. I still have high hope that they could fix the game. Just praise where praise is deserved and not blindy given because Bioware can and should be doing much better for a 2017 AAA title within a franchise just under 10 years old and a massive fan base.

If you are excited by Destiny 2 or Battlefront 2 you should consult a doctor about your lack of taste receptors. Man, get outta here with that shite. Look, no one expects Destiny 2 to be an epitome of much of anything but tons of gunplay (which is something it's actually very good at, along with its powers mechanic). But if you're the sort that has a group that will engage you in the game, it can be a consistent hoot, especially now that we can spar off in private matches and joke and talk shit to each other. I know there are other games where you can do this, but to be honest, I kind of hate the other options. You'd have to pay me to play any goddamn CoD game, Warframe is meh and really does feel like freeware, much like EVE, and I'm simply not taken by Overwatch (I'd rather have an animated series than a game).

Next game I will buy pre-launch is Cyberpunk 2077.
All others, including and MEA dlc or sequels, I will wait until after people have a chance to play/review to see if its worth it.

MEA is probably the only 2017 release I'll play this year so... that's an easy one. I'm tempted by HZD and BotW but I'm not buying a console for one frickin game. I'm pretty much in the same boat in terms of HZD and BotW. I'm a PC gamer and don't even own a console. Every once-in-a-while I consider getting one for some huge new release, but then I know it will only sit and collect dust once I'm bored with that game. In terms of 2017 games, I did try Nier Automata, and honestly...I really don't get all the hype behind this game. It's pretty much the opposite of what happened with ME:A: -with ME:A, the internet decided it would hate and troll it and everyone jumped on the bandwagon looking for flaws in every little detail; -with Nier Automata, the internet decided it was some kind of existential awesomeness in gaming and everyone jumped on the bandwagon ignoring all of its flaws. People, and their desire to belong and be a part of the "cool kids group" is weird...

There is no evidence supporting his speculation as there is no evidence for ME being put on ice. Placing 7 second month on NPD is better than ME3 so if we're going to give any credence to his "evidence" ME3 was an even bigger failure?

There is no evidence supporting his speculation as there is no evidence for ME being put on ice. Placing 7 second month on NPD is better than ME3 so if we're going to give any credence to his "evidence" ME3 was an even bigger failure? We're all not privy to what goes on behind the curtains. But one thing's for sure, sales numbers alone can't be compared to each other to call any given product a success. It's also the production costs and time of development featuring into the calculation. ME3 had conserably less budget and was finished a mere two years after ME2. The development of MEA kept a whole studio busy for five years. The statement by EA, or rather filtered trough their PR department, which is usual for large corporations, doesn't deny or confirm the rumors of the studio being downsized. But it's as close as they come to saying that there will be meetings to see where all of this is going and they put everything on hold until they decided on what to do. That is not to say, they didn't make a profit, but it says, the sales and the reception didn't meet their expectations.

I also think Red Dead 2 will kill it, even over Zelda which had the benefit of years of nostalgia swaying critics. The first game actually had a troubled dev cycle with one of the designers joking it should be called Red Dead on Arrival, and they still pulled off one of the seminal games of last gen. No question Rockstar will have improved on it.

Nothing comes remotely close to Red Dead Red 2 in terms of hype, potential critical acclaim and sales. It'll be the only game people will remember from this year in years gone by. If you are excited by Destiny 2 or Battlefront 2 you should consult a doctor about your lack of taste receptors. Because they have an preference that threatens you?

Stopped playing it, even though Automata's a great game, when ME:A dropped but it's the only other game that has interest for me right now. There aren't as many new games interesting me in the first place. I'm not a shooter guy, which may seem peculiar when playing ME, but I play Bioware games rather for the companion interactions than for anything else. I'm also a PC guy, so platform games don't interest me in the first place. I have my select few companies that I'm interested in. Bethesda for their moddability, Bioware for their companions, Activision for their Total War series, Obsidian for their old school RPGs and Larian for their indie character. I helped kickstart Divinity Original Sin II. Hope, the final version is due for release soon. Other than that, I only play hardcore realism racers from days gone by. Meaning, 15 to 20 years old, when they weren't Arcade but based on real life physics. Also heavily modded, of course.

Can't really speak for the general.public...but then the general public seems to rely on memes-as-fact...
But for my own tastes MEA is like one of only three games I am interested in. Thev others being ghost recon and HZD...and i am dubious about HZD.
