How do you think Mass Effect Andromeda will fair vs all the other games that came out/coming out in 2017/2018?
Are there any other game that has you just as hyped as Mass Effect Andromeda?
Are there any games coming out where you would like to see similar mechanics to Andromeda?
Where do you think Andromeda will fall under your own list of top games you played this year?
Are there any other games you just want to discuss to just get other fans of Andromeda excited about?
The two for me to start is DEstiny 2 considering the huge PC community and the new assassins creed. Destiny 2, for those who may not have played the first one, is not the best in terms of story but kicks major ass in terms of having smooth gunplay, verticality, powers, abilities, and tons of weapons, and armor. If you love the RPG stats of MEA for weapons, armor, and abilities alone, you may come to love DEstiny. And the sci fi lore, worlds, and sometimes, story is pretty amazing. I originally got excited about MEA because the gameplay vid gave me third person DEstiny combat mixed with Witcher 3 in space vibes. It met some expectations for sure.
MEA multiplayer is basically like the Prison of Elders mode in DEstiny 1. Now that PvP is also 4 v 4 on pc with full on 3 man strikes, it will be interesting to see how much of the MEA multiplayer fans will make the switch
Assassins Creed is an interesting game to keep an eye out on, because they also claiming to have followed the "Witcher 3 formula" similar to all the claims from Andromeda previews. Wonder if the AC Black Flag team can pull off a better open world with a better story the MEA?
This was the 4chain dev quote from last year:
"Egypt. There won’t be an AC in 2016. You may screencap this and refer to it when nothing is shown in E3 2016. You’ll have to wait until 2017 for it. The reason: It will be a complete revamp of the series. The game is going for a Witcher feel, with player progression, freeform combat system. Horse is back, and boats too. It s made by the Black Flag team."

Andromeda is stomping the competition this year and I see no game that could challenge it until Bioware's next major release. I thought Zelda and Persona 5 were the only chances, but Zekda ended up being absolute shit and Persona 5 a mess of poor ideas and bad writing.
There could be a surprise out there but I doubt it...

Unless you are trolling.... You're the first person I've heard say they didn't like Zelda. I thought I wouldn;t like it, but I was hooked instantly. I have my complaints about it, but after trying to replay Horizon or Mass Effect, i kept finding myself wanting to climb everything. HZD could really improve its climbing system in the next game using some like Zelda BOTW but I'm thinking more by using the robots. Aloy can ride other bots hopefully in HZD2 that can climb mountains, fly/gluide off cliffs, surf behind, ride on water, etc. MEA needs more overworld boss encounters, Dynamic/Traveling NPCS, and better rewards/conclusions for doing sidequests like BOTW. I know nothing of Persona but Japanese High School Anime is not appealing to me.

I thought Zelda and Persona 5 were the only chances, but Zekda ended up being absolute shit and Persona 5 a mess of poor ideas and bad writing. There could be a surprise out there but I doubt it... Are you for real? Yes. Andromeda had a hood story, fun characters, great combat, the nomad, wonderful exploration, and is actually improving with each patch. Breath of the Wild, while I expected greatness, delivered a god awful durability system, a shallow and boring world, terrible filler in enemy placement and lazy shrine design, poor characters, pathetic story, shit dungeons, brain dead menu system, outdated open world design (or blatantly ripping off Elder Scrolls and Minecraft), and vomit inducing graphical style. This game can only be considered good if you hardly ever play actual good games. Persona 5... it has moments it lives up to its franchise, unlike the above Zelda abortion, but it still stumbles a lot. The dungeon design was tedious with backtracking and battling forced on the player, the wrting was juvenile (if you call ME:A poor writing and not this you lose all rights to discuss the quality of writing), the characters were stilted, and the calendar system railroaded players far too much. P5 was mediocre, especially compared to the heights of P3 and P4. Andromeda's only sins are that it didn't continue off Shepard and it is Bioware.... in the internet trolldom, those are the worst crimes in gaming apparently.

I'm so hyped for Destiny 2, though I've adjusted my expectations after things D1 fell short of, but hot damn it's good to see the Cabal be a bigger deal. As for how it'll stack up against Andromeda…I dunno. I mean, the "companions" will just be people I actually know. That automatically makes them inferior to actual game companions. Then there's the story. Maybe the enemy will have actual characters rather than varying levels of bullet sponge. Heck, maybe one of them might actually be engaging somehow.

arent those physical copies though? considering every pc player bought a digital copy, and maybe half of console players now buy digital copies. MEA's numbers would be much less when Zelda BOTW is only sold as physical copies.

Quality. If you only hold an opinion because of sales, your opinion is worthless. CoD sells millions, but are you going to say it is better than a Beyond Good and Evil or Ori and the Blind forest?

Here are my games for this year : ibb.co/b0sxNaibb.co/dvkTTFibb.co/mrvv8FI was just opened Nier and Persona i did not even played with them. Nioh was my first game this year, i was very enjoyed it and played all the missions on higher difficulties. Not as great as Dark Souls III but it is one of the best video games i played on the PS4 console. Nioh is a mix between stylish action game and action-RPG style set in the old japanese ancient world filled with myth, war and magic. Absolutely recommended game for the fan of the Team Ninja games and fan of the stylish action games ( Devil May Cry, Ninja Gaiden, Bayonetta ). Right now im playing my 3rd Ryder Sarah on insanity, literally speedrunning, doing only the priority mission. I was saved the Moshae on Level 10 with Avenger 1 and Predator 1 it was cool. I was researched the X5 Ghost III and Heleus Defender Armour + Helmet III easy to buy the required materials from shops on Aya and Nexus, however researching them was tough because there is more than 300 Milky Way Research point is needed only for the Ghost alone. Mass Effect Andromeda is not the worst game in 2017. I think. The bad marketing and rushed release of the game made this title dissappointing but im still not bored from MEA. And not the best game of this year of course. Mass Effect Andromeda is a victim of witch hunt.Im excited for Prey as well. Im interested in Prey because it is similar to System Shock 2 but for me SS2 is not enjoyable anymore. And i like Bioshock franchise as well. Prey is on huge space station, many options to complete the game, the game is complex and even looks nice but not great. So if i will get anything more in this year, 2017, that game is going to be Prey. Im watching Horizon Zero Dawn and i can say that visually no other game can surpass Guerilla Games newest title. Horizon is visually stunning and after Horizon everything i played before, everything looks ugly. And im serious about this. However, i don't like Horizon at all, because Aloy's character cannot been customized before starting the game, at least her face should been customized. Secondly the RPG elements are toned down in Horizon, similar to Far Cry 3. I don't understand why Horizon is an action RPG and not an action adventure game. Another amazing J-RPG this year besides Persona 5 ? Final Fantasy XII The Zodiac Age.It is one of my favourite PS2 titles. And im excited for this game because this game finally comes with the International Zodiac Job System expansion and with stunning graphics, cgi remastered for 1080p. And im waiting for new announcements in E3 2017.

Honestly, I didn't understand what you meant by "stomping the competition" - from critical/user reviews or from sales perspective. It seems what you probably meant by "stomping the competition" was purely from your perspective. There's nothing wrong with that - however, it seems that most people, critics and sales figures disagree with your view.

Nothing comes remotely close to Red Dead Red 2 in terms of hype, potential critical acclaim and sales. It'll be the only game people will remember from this year in years gone by.
If you are excited by Destiny 2 or Battlefront 2 you should consult a doctor about your lack of taste receptors.

I won't be fooled again and Bungie clearly hasn't learned a gaddamned thing. If the Metacritic average is above 90 I might give it a shot when the complete edition hits the bargain bin about 3 years later. I find the very idea of supporting Activision repulsive. I've always wanted an Assassin's Creed in Ancient Egypt but I've hated what Ubi have done with the series for years although it's apparently from the Black Flag studio so cautiously optimistic on that one.

If ps4 and you change your mind, your welcome to play with our group. Just have a sense of humor. Destiny does have the best 1st person shooting mechanics. The new maps are much bigger with hub areas, Npcs and quests in the maps. Also more vehicles and overworld bosses. RNG is nothing like it was at release. I got everything from Rise of Iron with a few weeks. Even with the improvements, the game blows if playing alone You didn't like AC 4 black flag? It's the same team and they have been building this game since then. I'm excited for the revamp and that game director knows his shit

The pitiful game design, setting, world building and rng system soured me on Destiny for good. If the Metacritic average is above 90 I might give it a shot when the complete edition hits the bargain bin about 3 years later. Xbox or PS4? If ps4 and you change your mind, your welcome to play with our group. Just have a sense of humor. Destiny does have the best 1st person shooting mechanics. The new maps are much bigger with hub areas, Npcs and quests in the maps. Also more vehicles and overworld bosses. RNG is nothing like it was at release. I got everything from Rise of Iron with a few weeks. Even with the improvements, the game blows if playing alone You didn't like AC 4 black flag? It's the same team and they have been building this game since then. I'm excited for the revamp and that game director knows his shit Black Flag was good but at this point it's a diamond in a sea of dross.

It is nice to read off the difference in the substance of different games played. My pool of games is too small so I can't do that. For me, financial success is not the synonym to a good game. It seems the decay in quality is not solely a Bioware/EA problem, so thanks Kabraxal for your insight and daring to post your opinion.
