Yeah, and that's the point I'm opting out of discussion the topic any further with you. This isn't a political board, after all. All I can say, my former recommendation still stands. Anyone who's afraid of diversity should look for games that don't hurt their tender feelings. It should be clear that Bioware doesn't take the easy road by now. Lamenting over them not playing to individual prejudices won't change their ways. As should be clear after more than a decade of Mass Effect and Dragon Age. So I have tender feelings and am "afraid" of diversity? (Lmfao!) Not to mention that diversity is literally the least important thing on the grand scale of what makes a good game. Meritocracy will always prevail because that is what actually matters, not identity politics, feelings, or diversity. Games will always suffer from forced kowtowing to PC idiocy instead of sticking to designing characters in a story, not making sure characters meet the snowflake checklist. But you are backing out? At least be logically consistent in how strong you are and weak I am. dude what the hell are you talking about? Bw had these things from bulder'so gate and your acting like they just snuck this in? Seriously anyone complaining about diversity being forced into bw game is just a spoiled brat who does not know what they are taking about. Every game is about having a colorful diverse cast and you now complain about it in this game? We had bisexuals, homosexual, black, brown, an entire game of asians, and people of varied mental illness, personal religious philosophies and consent of how they live...and now when they do it's suddenly an issue? What is wrong with this generation of gamer? When did you guys suddenly become a flock of winning wimps?

Played Up till Nexus for the 1st time. (insanity it took me 5 hours and i really was paying attention to the details) Was cautious and sceptical due to the constant whinning. Yet as for every bioware game i Knew the hyperbole of the average gamer. Every time the same story: Me1 gets released. It got bombed. " oh no! bad combat!, empty words! Mako sucks! dialogue is the same no matter the choice!" Me2 gets released. "oh no! combat got streamlined! bring back the Me1 combat and the open-ness, Where is Mako?, hacking is a waste of time" Me3 gets relesed. " oh no!garbage! Its call of duty now! bring back the cover strategy from Me2! No hacking? autodialogue? bring back 3 choices from me1! it got it right!" Fast forward to 2017. I was shocked to find out that: 1) Sjw BS. non existant. Lies. (P U N C H E S) 2)Bad animations. Non existant. lies. Some Mediocre (facial ones) sure but as of now with 1.07... Just No. the animation 3)Bad dialogue. i want so much to run and kick you in the nuts until the balls come out of your mouth. The dialogue is not bad at all, the opposite! In fact the banter towards teh enviroment feels dynamic and the world feels very alive! i want to see the next Dragon age implement this system. 4) Voice acting. So far no problems. At all. Ryder sounds great. Liam sounds great! Cora sounds great. Lexi sounds great. Sam sounds great. 5) Combat . i dislike the lack of pause, the no radial wheel, the 3 powers mapping only. But it feels dynamic and the powers feel powerfull. To those who say i played only the beginning . It was the right from the beginning that people ripped part anyway. Purely subjective so that doesn't make them lies. I suppose if you like writing aimed at a Nickelodeon audience then it's probably great, but I'll pass thanks and yes that is just my opinion.

My first complaint about the writing started with, why daddy Ryder didn't just share his helmet with baby Ryder, instead of dying. Divers are trained to do this, now, already. But a Pathfinder doesn't think of it? Hmmm.

Besides, no one should tell anyone whether the game is bad or good if they haven't played through (or most of) the whole thing. Oh that's priceless... Please, tell that to the previewers who starting trashing the game after only being allowed to play a few hours of it. Please, tell that to the people here and on the old BSN who starting trashing the game when it was first announced and haven't stopped trashing it ever since. Please, tell that to the people who metabombed this game only a few hours after it was released. The OP has every right to state that they are enjoying the game so far and have not yet found issues deserving of the level of vitriol this game has been given online... vitriol that, as I said, started long before the game was even released... back even when no one had played it at all. ... and it seems to me that there are people here who still want to carry on over issues that have been patched... why, I wonder... just to continue to heap crap all over Bioware? OMG, they patched their game... people won't have anything left to complain about if they keep that up!

To OP: did you patch your game before starting? So if you play 1.07 patch you play different game that I played 2 months ago...If your game would crash, you couldn't finish quests, animations, writing, MP balance, lag + 1 ton of stuff that made ppl rage ---> you'd have different opinion. Btw, I don't "hate" the game ( have more than 100 hours in SP alone + MP etc ), but I can certanly understand ppl who are/were disappointed and/or hate the game. that's the issue. You played the console version. Me has always been it's worst on the console version. Do you want to here stories of how buggy Me1 was or the flying vorcha's of me2? I'm on PC, have been since 80286 with 50MB HDD . But, the amount of issues this game had on release day was.... high, to be mild. So I repeat: I can understand OTHER PPL that are pissed. Me being pissed ( how unpolished the game was ) is in the past now.

But a Pathfinder doesn't think of it? Hmmm. I'm actually at peace with that scene. Sure, it's cheesy, but it makes at least some kind of sense in retrospective and after having looked at all the memories and audio logs. I was more like WTF was this cloud sweeping them over the edge about? Well, the first vault kinds explains that backclash also. How they survived being blown off the ledge by a few hundred feet is another matter entirely. I'm always ready to suspend disbelief with any game like that. My complaints are rather dialogues, and the overall writing of the characters. There are a few I really like, but ironically they're not on the team but NPCs you meet later on. Come to think of it. Drack's the only one I really like to have on board. But that maybe that's because I always had a weakness for Krogans.

But you are backing out? At least be logically consistent in how strong you are and weak I am. Feel free to contact me on the Thinking Atheist boards. Going by the same username. I'm not discussing the matter any further on here. Which doesn't mean I'm afraid of opinions like yours. It's just that I respect what this board is about and what it isn't. Yeah, I'm gonna go make an account on a whole 'nother board to continue a disagreement. Sorry, but my time is a wee bit more valuable than that, tbh. BioWare wants to hamfist political narratives into their games, but apparently we can't talk about it here. Excuse my wrongthink, dear leader. So I have tender feelings and am "afraid" of diversity? (Lmfao!) Not to mention that diversity is literally the least important thing on the grand scale of what makes a good game. I have no problem with well done characters that are "diverse" as long as the writing is good and the characters are likable. What I have a problem with in the injection of inane ideology for the sake of diversity. Hanely Abrams was/is a shite character and the pronouns discussion on the nexus was a cringefest. Those are pretty much the only 2 examples of PC idiocy I can find in the game. Abrams only purpose is to say "HEY YOU, DO YOU KNOW I'M TRANS?! DO YOU?! YOU SURE?!" and act as a hamfisted gesture to the PC police. The pronouns conversation on the nexus is Tumblr level cringe that is completely spits in the face of pre-established lore. This shit reads of some teenager's angsty fanfiction.

Games will always suffer from forced kowtowing to PC idiocy instead of sticking to designing characters in a story, not making sure characters meet the snowflake checklist. But you are backing out? At least be logically consistent in how strong you are and weak I am. You are too certain that the characters are forced. The settings were created long ago, and the game shows fidelity to them. They made a conscious choice to construct a universe that does not resemble the current one. Humans of different skin color, gender and sexual orientation were part of the setting from day one just like Salarians or Krogans.
From the meritocracy standpoint, the two unqualified character on the team are Ryder him/herself which is a player's choice how to play them, and Liam. If your argument is that Liam got his position due to him being black over more qualified white or Asian candidates, well, I guess it's an interesting take on it. Ideally you should be able to dismiss him (or any other character you do not trust).
Gil has a terrible romantic scene (so does straight Liam) but professionally he always performs, so his designation as a ship engineer was not due to trying to "pander". I would view such a claim substantial if he was given a more advantageous, central and interesting role. Save for his dastardly romantic scene on Eos, his character fits the second tier, with some interesting touches char (i.e. his insomniac poetry). I claim stupidity before conspiracy in both Liam's and Gil's cases.
I have not run into the famous transgender encounter, but what I would have loved to see is an andorgenous asair to use the gender fluidity within the lore bounds, since Asari appearance is within their control. It's strange that they do not do that because it would increase their capture pool of genetic donors.
The setting is BioWARE's choice. I for one enjoy it and its possibilities, and openness to more gameplay options/player choices as well in practical terms.

None the main character even have a hint of forced political anything to complain about.

Did you actually get that scene? I didn't after patch 1.05, and I was actually looking pretty hard, since I followed the shitstorm about the character. Exhausting every single line of her dialogue. Might be something I overlooked, but it didn't happenn in my game. Apart from the fact that Abrams is probably the least important character in all the game. A questgiver to plant the hammers, but that's about it.

I honestly didn't even notice Abrams before the patch. There was something about a name. Okay, that's nice.
Then BW was like, "Changed Hainley Abrams' dialogue." Huh? Why? *checks the board* Ohhhkaaay.
Frankly, I see anti-SJW making stinks FAR more often than any SJW. But hey, whatever floats your boat.

They can be discussed in the context of the game, but the chances of such a discussion staying there is slim to nil, so yeah. Best to offline that if you actually want a discussion, and not, "No, me right." The topic itself is already outside the game, if you call some of the game's aspects "propagating mental illness". I'm not entirely sure what that meant or what it was related to, but I have a pretty good idea. That's not something to dwell on at a game's board. That's something for other places to discuss.

That's something for other places to discuss. if someone said that about people who did change genders...I would want them to crawl in a hole and die.

You are too certain that the characters are forced. The settings were created long ago, and the game shows fidelity to them. They made a conscious choice to construct a universe that does not resemble the current one.
The two unqualified character on the team are Ryder him/herself which is a player's choice how to play them, and Liam.
The setting is BioWARE's choice. I for one enjoy it and its possibilities, and openness to more gameplay options/player choices as well in practical terms.
They (BioWare) pulled Hanely's dialogue out of the game in the first patch. If that isn't proof that it was shite writing, then I don't know what is. Not sure how "gender fluidity" has anything to do with the asari given the fact that they are all biologically female and have no real concept of maleness in their culture nor do would they have any concept of other sexes within their own experiences, but ok. :wtf: Yeah, I'm gonna go make an account on a whole 'nother board to continue a disagreement. Sorry, but my time is a wee bit more valuable than that, tbh. BioWare wants to hamfist political narratives into their games, but apparently we can't talk about it here. Excuse my wrongthink, dear leader. Hanley Arms was a miss step....but.it was only one at that. This sjw hate bw was getting started way before the game came out. And one badly excited side npc is not a definition of stuff a game with sjw bs. I call out bad thing when I see it but the cherry picking you're doing is not called for with this game. None the main character even have a hint of forced political anything to complain about. Those two instances are pretty damn PC and cringy, not gonna lie, but besides those 2 I agree that the rest of the SJW complaints are baseless, as I already stated earlier. People keep overlooking what I said tho...... Abrams only purpose is to say "HEY YOU, DO YOU KNOW I'M TRANS?! DO YOU?! YOU SURE?!" and act as a hamfisted gesture to the PC police. I finished the game before the first patch came out so yes, I got the dialogue, and yes, if is every bit as forced and cringy as I have stated. BioWare pulled it it was so bad, I mean come on. Yeah, I'm gonna go make an account on a whole 'nother board to continue a disagreement. Sorry, but my time is a wee bit more valuable than that, tbh. Best to offline that if you actually want a discussion, and not, "No, me right." I would certainly keep the discussion within the confines of the board's topic. I'm not some unreasonable nutjob neocon, but simply someone sick of politics taking precedence over quality.
