The prime difference to an SJW and a non SJW character is if they are defined by their...for lack of a better term...minority trait. Take dorian for instance. We do not find out his sexuality until.much later. Sure its important to his arc. But not the most important. Funnily enough i had a conversation once where they were complaining about bioware sjw and dorian and when i pointed out liara was bi they were like...'such things do not exists' I wonder if there is even such a thing as a straight asari.

I personally don't mind that the females aren't very attractive they not ugly ( okay vetra is) but just normal looking which is fine by me. The only times Bioware ever annoyed me was with Krem (or Kram I don't remember) and Dorian side quest. I don't care that Dorian is gay but they shouldn't have made his side quest a therapy session you, him and his father that was basically "you didn't love me cause am gay". Like out of all the shit they could have done they pick that. I didn't play whatever game Krem/Kram or Dorian were in, but that is a rather topical point for people along the LGBT spectrum. Like I said, didn't play it so I can't say how good or bad of a job BW did in covering that topic, but I don't see that as particularly SJW'ish. I was talking about randomly having characters announce to you their transgenderness or random discussion about pronouns from a species that doesn't use them. Things that are clearly only in the game so BW can virtue signal rather than as part of world and character building. The fact they tend to do these instances rather badly just makes it worse. Krem was another transgender character in DAI. In a random dailouge with Iron Bull he/she basically say in so few words that they are trans and it was way out of left field. The pronoun thing I missed or wasn't paying attention. Who said it because I started a 3rd playthrough and I want to see it for myself.

If you consider them niether male or female or both I guess it doesn't really matter unless they into only oher asari.

I think it is supposed to be a discussion in the cultural exchange center with that Asari there and the ambassador from Jaal's people (can't think of their name right now).

Honestly as far as trans characters are concerned I'm not convinced there is a good way to represent them. My hats off to the writer who figures it out.

Dorian is my bro. The only portion of his story I didn't care for was when the "Revered Mother" insinuated because he was my first officer that we were somehow "intertwined". I romanced Cass every playthrough but Dorian and Varric and Sera were my forever inner circle. He one my favorites too but I just couldn't stand his side quest. They could have done a number a things with him but they decided it would be the best time for him to tell us that he is gay like you seriously couldn't have just said so before when you was telling how much of a rebel you are back home I don't think it was about him being a rebel... it was about his choice to be free of a predestined outcome. I think he felt the same about being a part of the inquisition... until you told him he was welcome as himself. No strings attached. The whole Tevinter/outcast story of his was the most well written of all the characters. He chooses to stay because he can be himself in the IQ and not be judged. Tevinter/gay or not.

They have the equipment. Its just they can mate with other females...and across species.

If you're talking to someone about being a rebel, you don't talk about rebelling aganst something that your listener doesn't know is even a thing.

Give me a well written character like Dorian any day of the week and I'll proudly wear the SJW moniker. The problem I think is trying to be progressive but doing so in poor taste. Yeah Dorian's easily my favorite DA character and easily one of the brightest points in Inquisition's roster. Of course, I'm also a huge Sera fan, so obviously I can't be trusted. :sure:

Honestly as far as trans characters are concerned I'm not convinced there is a good way to represent them. My hats off to the writer who figures it out. Krem in DA:I is how that should reasonably be handled. Make them normal characters and do not define them by their gender, even if they happen to be Trans. Thinking they need to stand out extra much and be special from every other npc just cause they're trans is the wrong way to go about it. In essence, making their gender alignment something that isn't treated as something out of the ordinary.
