Once again, two calls, one phonebook search. That's all it took. That guy is a professional. Even a total hack wouldn't fall for that. And what's more, nobody from Bioware or EA disputed what he said. They were pretty quick disputing it today. Wouldn't you think they would have done the same with an article in one of the bigger outlets in the gaming industry instead of just a discussion on their very own boards? The thing with them not disputing the Kotaku article is that the information that the studio had been downsized and sent to work on other products was true, and verified by EA. But it was the interpretation that there would be no Mass Effect DLC or work on the future game that was wrong, but Jason stated it was just his opinion. He even backtracked on it saying there could be DLC he was just doubtful. The Sinclair thing was a "company" lying about working with Bioware and their own credentials. They lied about who they were and where their information was from. Jason just had an unpopular interpretation of various facts. a borderline disingenuous interpretation given the facts.

True, but MMO expansions are a whole different thing. Those things can cost as much as brand new games, they need to get serious marketing behind. They were also playing on the hype of the seventh star wars release. Oh yeah, they need to cash in into movie releases.

They're less likely to comment on an article in a somewhat reputable gaming zine. They didn't comment on the post on SN's Facebook page only on what they saw in BSN's thread. If you'll notice their response to DLC is the same as it has always been. Yeah, and that won't change unless the company greenlights them saying anything of substance. But that's not how the media business works. That's also not how PR works. If there's an article in the press, if it's large enough to pick up speed over the internet, crisis PR steps in to counter the news. If there is anything to counter. That's the whole purpose of that rather new field of PR. It only came to be with the arrival of social media and in the meantime there are large firms specialising in that field. So them not disputing an article isn't how business works these days. Kotaku also didn't pick up on today's rumor. Only the Daily Express did in their online edition. Other than that, user generated sites without any journalistic approach. Abaris is coming from a logical and experience-filled background. He's right. Kotaku is improving since being bought out by Univision. They were under Gawker and those guys got sued into oblivion. Univision is mostly entertaining, but there is a very serious side to their journalism. Kotaku is still under probation from me, but... they're growing some legitimacy and that can't be ignored. Also, I disagree with EA's PR and Marketing. They're "merde" and that's my opinion.

Andromeda is such a bad game I played it for 70 hours I know right? It is so bad, I only finished 2 playtroughs and working on third right now. Plus, I play MP almost daily. Yes, it is that boring game. 270 hours into my third playthrough. Blah, just so awful.

Sorry, but that author had to edit his article at least twice after publishing it which means he didn't do all of his homework prior to writing it. While Kotaku might be gaining some legitimacy, and I emphasize "might", that particular author is not.

I caught on that he changed the title because of intent. Ohhh.... I know brother... I know. And with Kotaku, skepticism is needed. Not because of this piece or the last one... but because of its reputation under Gawker. Also, the whole unnamed sources issue...

Also, I disagree with EA's PR and Marketing. They're "merde" and that's my opinion. I don't know if they're behind the cardinal sin of MEA. Which was releasing the bugged game to the general public before it's release date in order to push Origin Access. Everything else they're doing is business as usual. No single employee, be they as high as they want in the food chain, can tell anything to the public because they feel like it. The board has to agree on any statement and that will be formulated by the press department before being released. That certainly won't happen on twitter or any other social media platform.

Not because of this piece or the last one... but because of its reputation under Gawker. Also, the whole unnamed sources issue... I think that's the basic issue being discussed. On paper, some clickbaity-massaging of the facts is tolerated (if not universally appreciated). They got it wrong, they fixed it. They shouldn't have let it go that far nonetheless. The problem is, most people let the issue slide due to some decent articles the same author had previously written. Then he comes on Reddit and launches into this weird, passive-aggressive defence of his article with no extra facts or material and appeared to imply anyone questioning his article had some kind of ulterior motive. Then we have this, a 'source' that has generated all sorts of controversy and in reality didn't exist. Hence, I think it's healthy skepticism to question all this. There's too many people in this business who are basically pushing any old crap and hiding behind 'secret sources' and excuses whenever questioned.

Eh, EA/Origin Access has been existing since 11th August 2014. And full game like DAI can be played with EA/Origin Access for a year before ME:A release. So it wasn't in EA's interest to release ME:A buggy with it's 10 hour Trial.

Because you can speculate correctly a lot of times. Sometimes, you get it wrong. Just because the facts line up, doesn't make it right. Skepticism is what Kotaku sold under Gawker. You can't escape that fact. I can speculate all day and get 90% of it right. That's not journalism. Unnamed sources is a real thing, but you have to take it with skepticism. Also, it doesn't describe who the sources are in the story. Are they leads? Were they low-level developers? Out of work artists? A director who has an axe to grind? I can speculate that this story is going to get a lot right, but that doesn't make it right. Facts and credible sources are what Kotaku needs right now to shake off the Gawker stench.

because one drew shit conclusion based on incomplete abd frankly contradictory information. The other just laid out the facts on the development. That doesn't make any sense. Either he's credible with credible sources or he's not. You can't say the people know what they're talking about and are telling the truth on one hand, and then say they're not credible and don't know what they're talking about on the other.
