Looked at author. Immediately grew suspicious. Got to the "then the hilarity came to an abrupt end: that segment of the game community which revenges itself upon anyone who is even perceived to have slighted them, developed a conspiracy about Andromeda’s animations and, of course, found a woman to blame" part, had a laugh, and closed the tab. No thanks, I'm not gonna read anti-gamer propaganda.

ME:A was also ribbed for attempting to, sometimes hamfistedly, recapture the formula of the original games, right down to the identities and trope-y roles of your crew.
Hey, at least in ME1 I had access to more than three powers at once!
Perhaps companies could stand to be more proactive and do something beyond posting a weak-kneed reminder to their fans that “attacking individuals, regardless of their involvement in the project, is never acceptable” after the latest abusive episode. But it’s hard to say, especially from this far on the outside, where to go from here.
Not talking down to your customers would be an excellent start.

That's the part I find scary in any fandom. It's not game related, it happens with sports as well as music. I can only assume that these people are stalkers at heart, people who are that immersed into something that they lose any grip on reality.
That's why I always keep stressing, when things get personal in a positive or negative way, that game companies and their employees aren't our buddies, who disappoint us on a personal level, but part of a multimillion business, earning their pay check. Criticize the game all you want, I'm doing my share too, but leave the persons out. Even if they're at the root of anyone's disppointment, they're not deserving of being threatened.

Maybe fans need to stop sending threats to developers first.

They only have these passions and love for these games because the same people they threatened gave it to them. And still, they're stalkers. I mean noone would threaten the producers of their favorite brand of toilet paper if it suddenly turns out to be itchy. It's only over entertainment and sports that people get personal on a scary level. And that can swing both ways, actually. Positive as well as negative. I've read a lot of posts on here and on other gaming boards, where people talked about the developers as if they were their personal friends or enemies. In short, losing touch with reality.

I clocked out here: "The recent news that there's no single-player DLC in the works for Mass Effect: Andromeda has all but sealed the fate of the franchise for now." What recent news? It should say recent rumors. BioWare has made no such announcement.

Aside from the irritating habit of treating Jason as if he was a mouthpiece for Bioware, this is a pretty good article. I do think the devs were hard done by both their company and their fans - creating a game on this scale in 18 months is some serious work and yet we've got all of Reddit's retard brigade branding them the 'B-team'.
As for Katherine Cross - I have no idea who she is.

Parroting unsubstantiated rumor is completely expected from that circle of people.

People also need to realize they have feelings and it probably hurts to read half the shit people say here about them and the games. In case of their products, I can only say, tough. That they have to endure, even if they don't feel as if the criticism is justified. Everyone producing something has to endure criticism. The only line to be drawn is the personal level. The product is fair game.

That's what I see the least of here. No one really details the wrongs so they can learn from it. They usually go straight to insulting their competence without pointing out what makes them feel that way. If you love something and want it improved, detail why it failed with you and what they need to do in the future. They love that sort of feedback. Makes me wonder if we're reading the same board. Most of the criticisms are tied to story, companions and the lifeless worlds. Very rarely do I read a rant where the author doesn't nail down their points.

Read her bio and where she's publishing. thisisvideogames.com/gamergatewiki/index.php?title=Katherine_CrossSome people may get suspicious simply because she's a lesbian feminist publishing in a lot of feminist magazines. Also there's that big fat Opinion at the top of the article. So it's a commentary on what she heard or read and not something she researched.

Speak for yourself. Regardless of the ideology it comes from, anything that pushes an ideological bias should certainly be questioned. Accepting without question is a grave mistake. Considering her true point to this article is to push an agenda with the whole: "Women harassed on the internet" shtick, yes, there is reason to be suspicious if not outright mock the article. There was one harassed. BW had to step in and stop it. She was attacked for MEA face animations. It was disgusting! Right, and that is sickening, but the "only women face internet harassment" shtick is the only point of mentioning that one indecent. It is bias pushing and deserves scrutiny. It isn't "BioWare was harassed by unhinged dickwolves," (and wrongly so I may add) but "this woman was harassed by gamers," as if all gamers are from the same ilk of some assholes on Twitter.

It isn't "BioWare was harassed by unhinged dickwolves," (and wrongly so I may add) but "this woman was harassed by gamers," as if all gamers are from the same ilk of some assholes on Twitter. Many male gamers treat females like crap. We go through a lot because of this. Even now on Twitch you see what they are put through. Not all gamers I agree, but it's not making anyone look good when people like that exist. We women still struggle to be accepted in the gaming world. My experience in CS:GO, an extremely toxic game, is in direct contradiction to that statement. When I end up with a woman on my team, there are no rude remarks, just strat talk and callouts. It's almost as if skill is the only thing that matters in the meritocracy of truly competitive gaming. The twitch streamers you speak of are lovingly referred to as "boobie streamers" and are rightfully called out on their bullshit. Girl streamers who actually stream for love of the game are adored and the one who use it as a way to expose cleavage and get donation money are reviled, just as it should be.
