Hahahaha maybe but uh ... one thing though he can when he flies go through the sound barrier right so when he has a Stache like i showed in the spoiler i wonder what it would look like after he went through the sound barrier. Not even the strongest gel would hold it together. Uh... yeah, that would be pretty bad. Not even Zack Snyder could salvage that.

Have now watched the vaunted Snyder Cut of Justice League, and found that it actually makes the original cut look good in comparison. Every important scene that wasn't in the original seems like it was cut for pretty obvious reasons, either because it was really silly or stupid or self-indulgent without serving any kind of meaningful purpose, or because it seriously messed with the story. Everybody is acting a lot dumber, and most of them have just disregarded their personalities from previous movies compared to the old version.
I'll concede that it certainly tries to do some more character work than the old one... but The Flash's and Cyborg's new storylines both individually completely break the movie with effortless time travel and complete telekinetic technology control or whatever, respectively. And on top of that, The Flash's character arc is paper-thin compared to his slightly less thin getting-used-to-helping-in-a-crisis mini-arc in Whedon's version, whereas Cyborg's is a really cool premise for a really cool story all about him learning how to handle this massive power over the modern world that just... never unfolds, because Snyder inexplicably decided to make this movie instead of that one.
Don't know whether to give Whedon props for having been able to trim whatever he had to work with down to something that vaguely resembled a working movie with working characters that seemed vaguely likable, or shake my head at Snyder for spending such a massive amount of extra resources and time to tag a bunch of diluting garbage on a movie that wasn't great to begin with.
Either? Both?
Also rewatched The Dark Knight, and watched Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation for the first time. In the wrong order, unfortunately. One of these two scenes did not benefit from me having seen the other movie almost immediately before. I'll let you guys guess which:
Really enjoyed both, though, especially Mission Impossible. Can barely wait to see Ghost Protocol. I don't care if I'm watching them backwards, they're simply amazing. Seriously hope we get to see the seventh movie in the theaters come November.

Watched The Tomorrow War - with Chris Pratt - last night.
It wasn't bad. The ending was pretty bad. Felt very Michael Bay-esque kind of 'now the heroes get their happy moment', but that was a minor annoyance in essentially the epilogue that didn't detract from a decently fun experience.
The aliens were genuinely scary, although I found myself wondering why the armies of the world didn't just load up helicopters with high caliber weapons and hover...
Solid fun - 7/10

The Ending... I really thought it was going to be a causal loop with the queen getting away. They awaken her early even. Felt like the perfect setup. Maybe too much Christopher Nolan...
The Aliens... were physically interesting. Nice reminder we're physically inferior to a lot out there. Fear our opposable-thumbs and neuron-mash but that's mostly it. Their mobility was incredible. Visually I think they did a great job conveying it too.
Not necessarily in appearance but in style/characterization they reminded me a lot of Edge of Tomorrow's aliens. I loved those and like these. I was starting to question the aliens ammunition capacity by the end though.
Had no clue this movie was going to exist until I saw it did yesterday. Entertaining quick watch popping up outta nowhere was nice. Didn't expect Miranda to show up either.

Had no clue this movie was going to exist until I saw it did yesterday. Entertaining quick watch popping up outta nowhere was nice. Didn't expect Miranda to show up either. Wibbly-wobbly timey-wimey I was expecting causal loop, as well. I’d seen the trailer and one interview from Pratt so I had the basics of the plot when the movie started.
But the moment they used the ‘raft’ analogy I felt confident in throwing out the loop idea. Infinite Ammo Aliens Yeah, I mean... weird, but we sort of have to expect that any life ‘out there’ is going to be utterly bizarre when compared with anything we currently know.
I felt they did a really good job with them, to be honest. By the end, I was asking - out loud - “what will it take to kill this bitch?”
Nice couple of fake outs with Dan’s Dad near the end, too. Drop Zone Gotta wonder how many times that ‘7-10 foot drop’ has happened, and if maybe that’s why so many draftees don’t make it back.

Completed The Two Towers last night, tonight I'll watch the Return of the King I got lucky this year and caught them all the theatre when they were re-released in 4K (theatrical cut). Think I got a couple in IMAX. Dunno if my patience could last for the Extended Cuts of those films. If any set of movies needed a classy 60s style Intermission it's the EC cut of LotR movies. 🤔I guess the 2 DVD disc release had that. I'll say it again - that Gandalf vs Balrog fight at the start of part 2 is just nutz!🤩👍

For one thing, I thought Cyborg was just fine in the original, alarmed and wrestling with whatever he was becoming, but in Snyder's cut now I'm supposed to like a character that routinely breaks rules and the law in a ham-fisted attempt to give to the underprivileged? Maybe it's because I'm a programmer but my first thought at the ATM scene was, "The bank will track that money down and charge that nice mother with theft!" I would have much rather seen Cyborg (just spit-balling here) expose corporate corruption/greed, or even use that info to blackmail them into charitable donations.

Unfortunately I read a positive review of this movie that spoiled much of it.😣 Regardless it was still a touching examination of what our lives are, and what it takes to live a "successful" one.

Bring Your Own Brigade
After the first 20 minutes of alarming and gut wrenching footage of the Camp Fire that destroyed Paradise CA in 2018, the movie bogs down into a fairly slow explanation of the history of fires in California and all of the causes. It's eye opening, but really the rest of the movie could have been condensed into a 30 minute power point presentation. Instead, we're treated to endless folksy interviews with wealthy residents in Malibu and blue color residents in Paradise who point fingers at someone else for the cause of the fires, all while doing nothing themselves (I guess except for wealthy Malibu residents hiring personal fire brigades to save their mansions), interspersed with experts who explain what's really been happening.
Long story short, California was always going to burn, but climate change, forest management, and landscaping made it worse.
The slap-your-head punchline is the only entity that takes any concrete action to help reduce fires is the logging company (forget the name) that was part of the cause. The company changed the way that it prepared the land post-logging, and how the trees are replanted so as not be a ready source of forest fire fuel in 10 years.

I just thought it was straight up hilarious how this ATM is making audible celebratory noises while showing the balance on screen in this dark alley. It was such a cheap-ass way to make a twee I'm-Helping scene with zero thought of its internal logic. But, speaking of DC films, I finally got around to seeing the new Suicide Squad, and it's a goddamn miracle it ended up being as good as it is. It practically scorches the awful taste of Ayer's shitty film with cleansing fire.

How dare they struggle for survival and a better life? As I said, I haven't seen it, so have little clue.

So a friend dragged me into Bad Luck Banging or Loony Porn. That was certainly .... an experience. Remind me never to watch contemporary romanian arthouse cinema ever again. Those were two hours I'll never get back. My impression though, is that critics may like it because it has a pessimistic and masochistic message that humans and human culture, particularly the technological Western, are arrogant and immoral fools, and no more than drowning rats that get what they deserve for their despicable pride? How dare they struggle for survival and a better life? I think it was less about the technological west and more about how all humans are animals deep down and how we just can't cope with inevitability but have to flee into religion and other distractions. Or something like that. I did not like that film.

Ghost in the Shell (1995) with spoken Japanese and English subtitles is now playing in IMAX. Not sure how long this will last. I think I disappears from my theatre next Wednesday.
I saw it this past Thursday when it opened. 25 years later it mostly still holds up, but in IMAX the hand drawn lines and paint strokes in the background panels are far more noticeable. I can't understand Japanese, but the tone of the delivery really does sound better than the English dub.

Saw the new Dune movie yesterday. Its quite good, much closer to the book than the Alan Smethee version too. Looking forward for a second movie. Same here, went to see it yesterday. I had exorbitantly high hopes for this one and Villeneuve and his crew have fully delivered. Cast, setting, art direction, camera - awesome. I missed a couple of scenes from the books that I would have loved to also see in the film, but overall this adaptation was everything I wanted it to be. Let´s hope this one will be successful enough to not only greenlight the 2nd part but maybe also open the door for adaptations of the next books as well.
It seems that so far the international gross has almost been 80 Million US$ even in times of Covid-19, so with launch in the US coming up next month I am hopeful we´ll get to see more of this.

I missed a couple of scenes from the books that I would have loved to also see in the film, I think I know what scenes you are refering to. My biggest grievance is the portrayal of Baron Harkonnen as well as his general absence on screen. And the fact that Jason Momoa has been playing Ronan Dex for 15 years now. I think I still prefer the old movie. Cant beat its soundtrack thats for sure.

I really liked the way the movie portrayed him though vs. both the David Lynch and miniseries versions. He seemed a much more dark, sinister and formidable antagonist - but probably further away from the way he was originally portrayed in the book. Scenes I missed were his interactions with his inner circle, De Vries being essentially a no-show and Feyd-Rautha entirely absent. And I was really looking forward to see the Jamis burial and Muad´dib naming scenes, but I think that may be in the cards for the sequel.
I had never before seen anything featuring Jason Momoa - the guy certainly has an impressive screen presence. Now that you have mentioned it I do find it very easy to imagine that he is playing that same type of character in very different works.

Its the other way around for me, Id rather have a cheesy heart unplugging, villian laughing baron from Lynch movie than this version who is there, flying menacingly. I couldnt even recognise the actor playing him. BTW they are apparently making a spin off TV series - a prequel about Benne Gesserit order.
