I don't know about that man. Wouldn't they have their own movies about fierce tribal warfare? Or wouldn't other filmmakers be interested in making them? Ancient human tribal warfare should pale in comparison to the kind of stuff the krogan get up to. A film about krogan stomping out the rachni or one about the Rebellions would make more money than movies about Ragnar or Lagertha i think. You do know that the krogan are warriors right? they would respect strong warrior culture of other species regardless of their origin and history. Once they learned of the Vikings, Mongols, Huns, Yotvingians, etc. they be envying humans all over, considering the aftermath of ME3 ending lol Krogan envying us vastly physically inferior humans? You're joking right? I'm assuming so because your post made me laugh.

They would respect the warrior culture itself, like their own culture, not necessarily human's physical strength. The shamans are another perfect example of what a true experienced krogan warrior would be like, unlike those regular whelp we've fought in the war zone.

That they would envy us our warrior cultures. Us comparable weaklings. Hard drives full of viking movies and such. Like our warrior shit is so fascinating to them. Far more than their own. Life on Tuchanka before industrialization was probably like our fantasy stories. Our myths and legends. Groups of heroes battling giant monsters. They actually lived that stuff. Thresher maws are a thing on Tuchanka. Us humans only dreamed about that stuff. They lived it and did so for the entirety of their existence. What are our stories compared to theirs? Why would they respect and admire our long dead and inferior warrior cultures over their own still very much alive and vastly superior ones? Imagine how badass a krogan has to be to become a champion among a race of berserkers with immense strength, redundant organs and healing factors. Imagine the cultures that would spring up around that. The heroes, the myths, the legends, the sagas, the epics. Seriously think about it. What is an episode of Vikings compared to all of that?

A movie thread, people talk about krogan worldview and how would they treat another warrior culture. LOVE IT.
Stay classy, BSN.
(srsly guys, keep talking, u awesome)
ps. Gotta say, krogans dont seem to have a lot of respect to turian military culture. They sure hate turians, they talk a lot about dismembering turians, but I never saw a tiniest glimpse of respect to turian warlike society in those talks.
ps2. On the other hand, Grunt does have a lot of interest in human military history. It does look like respect.

On the other hand, Grunt does have a lot of interest in human military history. It does look like respect. They blame the turians for the genophage more than any other Council races so it stands to reason that they're the ones getting the most shit for it. Grunt hardly spends any time amongst his own people. What does he know of krogan culture and history? At the time of ME2 i mean. I believe he viewed Shepherd as a mentor/role model and was infatuated by her. Post ME3 he's been with his people for a good while and has probably moved passed his juvenile infatuation and has embraced the history and ways of the krogan. Also, I believe that his being so interested in human history was more for something the player can easily understand and relate to than something about aliens. It's also easier on the writers seeing as how there wouldn't be a need to actually come up with krogan military history. Since none of these aliens are real i imagine that many players kind of shut their brains off about them to an extent and just aren't really interested in it so the developers keep the alien stuff to a relative minimum and the writers don't put a lot of effort into it.

You have a point there. But seriously, why do you think they wouldn't envy human's warrior culture because of the similarity alone and of course an equivalent of their culture? Even if it just a myth on Earth, it's pretty much real to them on Tuchanka. IMO, the krogan elders would respect and approves a species that values toughness, strength and wisdom.

Seems Ang Lee's masterwork has joined the likes of Memento in the list of amazing movies that I barely remember the first time - Really wish I'd done a rewatch sooner. Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon sets itself in the beautifully-shot landscapes of late 17th Century China: The world is ending, set by supernatural forces involving the consequences of blocked chi, cybernetic zombie ninjas, and winnie the pooh. The world ain't ending. The story begins where one seemingly ends, an Emerald-Colored sword of destiny being laid to rest in the hands of someone without the skill to truly use it. Worth noting that both the dialogue and the shots early on treat the blade as something not to be glorified as a toy, though there's respect for its incredible craftsmanship and legacy. The enchanted blade lights a fuse for what I'd almost describe as Shakespeare in the East, or the *proper* live-action equivalent of Avatar: The Last Airbender. These aren't Two-Dimensional archetypes marred in another cliche, they're as human as we are. In true Game Of Thrones fashion, the avoidance of tacking on Hero/Villain categories and retaining complex motivations build a strong sense of intrigue for its characters. The themes are universal, but Crouching Tiger as a whole isn't so easily pinned down. Speaking of which, these fights are intense af. The cynical part of me wants to ask "Hey, why are these dudes and dudettes flyin' around and stuff?!". I'd guess it's a learned technique, like casting fireballs and other magic we see in fantasy flicks. I love that part of it anyway, it adds a mythical quality to the realistic characters which I'm all for. Said characters bring the choreography to life - it's not hard to see their distinct personalities come out in martial, stylistic expression . The most famous fight scene farther in the movie hardly boils down to "beating up the bad guy", and considering you've seen all sides of the story by then, it's hard to know who to root for. Being able to get Top-Of-The-Line action with a story that can deeply resonate with anyone is a remarkable feat .This is a wonderful movie. --------------------------
The Clip Show
-------------------------- Arrival: They found a sweet spot between the poignancy in Children of Men, and the Kubrick-ian Tracking Shots & Ominous vibe of 2001: Space Odyssey. Many YouTube videos have cited Inception for making use of film's dream-like nature(i.e. flipping wildly between space and time through "cuts"). In a more vague sense, the Arrival makes use of the nature of storytelling with one hell of a payoff. North By Northwest: Hitchcock does what he does best - Build Suspense, and add Cheeky Dialogue. It's #40 on the AFI 100, so take from that what ya will.
