I am glad that many people like Andromeda. I, after two play throughs, cannot do a third. For whatever reason, I honestly do not care for the game as much as I had hoped I would. I found Archon to be a joke, as well as the Kett, overall. I hope Bioware goes forward with the Mass Effect franchise, as it really is special. I just found Andromeda to be lackluster in story compared to the original trilogy. I do find multi player to be pretty decent, though. I stated this in an earlier post, but Andromeda at this point is purely subjective. You didn't enjoy it and you don't have to. Heck there were things I hated or thought were stupid, such as the Kett and the Archon, as you have stated, SAM being another, as he felt like a really lazy way to progress the plot.

Never heard of it lol. But the graphics remind me of Full Throttle. I am tempted to get the game just to laugh at how bad it is.

Using metacritic user scores, the place where melodramatic gamers go to figuratively scream their heads off and act like it's worse than Hitler?

TBH I think that's MEA's problem though in that it's got Mass Effect in the title Agreed. It should have been titled: A N D R O M E D A Inspired by Mass Effect.

I was thinking about Totalbiscuit's review of ME:A. I really like what he said at the beginning of his "WTF is..." video, where he said that due the amount of "noise" about the game, that it's virtually impossible to go into it without any sort of opinion coloring your own.

Meh. The game is still a laughing stock and it's going to be remembered as such down the road. Don't think so. Dragon Age 2 recovered in memory, despite the painful re-used locations. I think MEA will do the same, a game that's much better than its reputation at launch.

Because I love Mass Effect. Just not this abomination that wears the skin of Mass Effect. No, it really isn't. Andromeda is a soulless emulation of the things that made the original trilogy great. This is a Mass Effect game, whatever you like it or not Also those are some pretty damn outrageous claim when you admitted you didn't play ME:A beyond Eos Remnant Vault. You didn't even get far enough in story to properly judge it and characters. No past Eos? and we are stll discussing? there is nothing to discuss, at all! this is like the 10% of the game.

We'll just have to wait and see though. I really liked MEA and I really like DA2 as well. Neither game deserves to be trash talked like they have been. I just hope that Bioware don't give up on doing this sort of game and just stick to MMO's like Anthem which they may be in danger of doing if DA4 dosen't go down well. I need me some good SP RPG stories in the style Bioware delivers so I want them to continue.

Ik, I was trying to make an immature joke. ... and that's the thing with humor... it's hit and miss. That's what makes the opinions about ME:As one-liners just really opinions. Some people love that line in ME3 and others really don't find it all that funny. It's just a stupid one-liner. Perosnally, I like the tone ME:A has. I don't have much desire to play a really renegade Ryder because, IMO, a hardass renegade at this stage does not suit the story that Bioware is trying to tell within this game about a young and inexperienced PC stepping up the plate and getting a job done despite a whole lot of people around him/her who had a year to succeed and didn't generally making life difficult.

So no Architect, no Kett base, no Podromos...

I personally liked those lines from Grunt but all those Krogan bit's were quite funny in ME3 and very well done as well.

In the case of this new trial, however, people don't have to stop playing after the 10 hours and wait for the game to be released. If they decide they want to continue, they can purchase the full game right away and continue on immediately.

I don't think they would go to just MMO style games like Anthem for they require huge budgets and you don't want to have them cannibalizing each other. I just want BioWare to pay attention to what is being said by people and not the angry mobs. Which I think they did do with Inquisition and tried to incorporate into Andromeda, one of the common things I heard from people was complaining about The Hinterlands in Inquisition and how they felt obligated to 100% that area before moving on. They did an interesting trick with Eos by forcing people to leave for more story missions before Eos opened back up and I didn't hear the same type of complaint with Andromeda probably due to that change. I can only speak for myself, but a lot of the criticism I had for Andromeda really boiled down to open world syndrome. I know a lot of people indicate how much they like open world content, but I think that is what drags down how they tell their stories. Even going back to Dragon Age: Origins the areas I disliked the most were the most open world areas of that game with the Deep Roads and Fade areas. Those areas put major hold points on the story that hurts the flow of the storytelling. Areas like Habitat 7 where there is the freedom to explore a little, but at the same time keeps the player moving in one direction probably would work better, but that is just me being a backseat developer. I did enjoy Andromeda for what it was, but that would be my main complaint against the game.

If they decide they want to continue, they can purchase the full game right away and continue on immediately. yeah indeed they can. But I'm glad I waited because I know I'd have wanted to jump straight in and play the rest of it anyway now that I've experienced it. But being a Bioware game and the kind of game I like I had a feeling that was going to be the case which was why i waited until the official launch. So I could play the game at my own pace and in my own time. Just as I do with all my games. I didn't like the idea of the 10 hour clock ticking down tbh on me either. To fully sample a game like what Bioware makes you really need time as games like Bioware's are better when you don't rush them I think. Mainly because you can take in the surroundings and what's happening around you. After all each playthrough is between 100/200 hours long games that are designed to be that long are not really meant to be rushed.

With EA in charge I wouldn't rule anything out and lets not forget with EA in charge they have the budgets to pull it off if they so wish. I hope they don't but with EA anything's possible. I don't want it to happen either but there is a possibility it could. Which is why I've got my fingers crossed that DA4 is a success. We won't know until it comes out though but if they build on what they achieved in DAI I'm hopeful it will be. As DAI is definitely my favourite Dragon Age so far.

As far as the jokes and one liners go, I think the game would have worked much better if they just would have made it an option like sarcastic Hawke. There were times in the game where I had no idea what Ryder was going to say, and the paraphrase gave you no indication of what Ryder was going to say.
Look at the first time you meet the Angarans.
The Angarans contact you and you only get two options. Let's all stay calm (C), We come in peace (P). If you pick the casual option you get "Listen, sorry to show up out of nowhere, but I swear, we're the galactic good guys". This from let's stay calm.
Then when you go to leave the ship you get only two option again Lighten up (C), or This is a great moment (P). If you pick casual you get the joke about of things go bad and I get eaten, please destroy the vids. This from lighten up, and the response isn't even casual, it's a joke.
Then when the Angarans come and scan you, the first face to face words to say are, "Need me to take my shoes off", completely out of the players control. Not, we come in peace, not, I mean you no harm, not, I would like to see your leader. "Need me to take my shoes off"
Then when Jaal asks you why you're there, you get the options, You have a vault(C) or We come in peace(P). If you choose the casual option here you get "Our intentions are simple. We'd like to look in your vault and then we're out of here." This actually is a casual response and not a joke.
How are you supposed to even consider this dialogue option when you have no idea whatsoever what you're going to get? The answer can't be well, just choose the professional response all the time to be safe.
They should have just made the joke responses their own option, and had actual casual responses for that dialogue choice.

"Need me to take my shoes off" Then when Jaal asks you why you're there, you get the options, You have a vault(C) or We come in peace(P). I'm not going to disagree with you. I certainly think they could have created a clearer "humorous" icon and dumped any of the joke lines into that slot. I think, though, that they wanted to preserve some of the "surprise" factor to allow the player to just laugh at some of the humor spontaneously. If the player is purposefully selecting a joke line, then the actual joke is just not going to seem as funny simply because the player is prepared for it. I think one of the biggest issues is that people walked into the game fully expecting to be able to play "Shepard" in a different galaxy... and Shepard's personality was just never intended to be within the "allowable range" of personalities given Ryder. Their base premise for Ryder was that he/she was young and with that, sometimes spontaneous and sometimes just plain goofy... that his/her "humor chronometer" wasn't perfectly adjusted just yet. In truth, we never got to see a young side of Shepard... a time before he/she received all that N7 training. In ME:A, it's Cora that is more the embodiment of that sort of training... and, in case you didn't notice, she doesn't crack any jokes. I fully believe they could decide to evolve Ryder's personality to be more like Shepard in later installments of the game... that is, if they do a sequel to the game that is set within Ryder's lifetime.

I fully believe they could decide to evolve Ryder's personality to be more like Shepard in later installments of the game... that is, if they do a sequel to the game that is set within Ryder's lifetime. I don't even want it to be like Shepard. I just want to have some idea of what my character is going to say, and whether it's going to be a joke or an actual casual option. Also, you don't have to be stone serious, but even when I was 21-22, if I was in a situation where someone doesn't know me and may be afraid, I'm going to assure them I mean no harm, I'm not going to make a joke like do you need me to take my shoes off, which they have no idea what I'm talking about anyway. That joke is for the sake of the player outside the game. But the player is Ryder, and Ryder shouldn't even know that joke technically. I get the whole young and inexperienced thing, but they took it past that. Being unsure of yourself can go with any type of personality. They gave Ryder a specific personality as far as being a jokester. Some things could actually be funny in the right context, but I just think people felt that they didn't fit the moment they were said in a lot of the time.
