That's why companies can patch games these days... That's no excuse for releasing a broken product in the first place. It's a fix after the fact, but it punishes themselves by poor reviews and word of mouth, and it punishes the fans who buy early by getting an inferior product to those who get it on sale in six months. It's not a BioWare-exclusive problem, it's a damned disease of this industry. Just because we have bandages doesn't make it a good idea to stab a fork in your hand :-) No, there was no excuse for them releasing the game in the state it was in to a group of reporters ahead of release who then reviewed it negatively. They should have not only delayed the release (which would have caused an irate furor from the fans over a delay... since they were already raging over the previous delay), but also made absolutely certain that the game portions they showed those reviewers were in absolutely flawless condition. They didn't do that and they have paid dearly for that mistake. However, now it's the fans who really have no excuse to continue to bash them for it now. It is water under the bridge and Bioware did step up to the plate and fixed the issues... but there is no sign of the fans letting up. The fans seemed determined now to beat the horse not only dead but thoroughly mangled beyond any semblance of recognition... all because Bioware did what a number of other developers have been doing of late... releasing their games with significant bugs in them and patching them after the fact. IMO, Bioware has done their bit... It's now the fans' turn to "get real." If they want more games out of Bioware in the future, they need to back off and let Bioware recover a little bit. Let them try to now market this improved game, make some money, and most importantly, recover some of the dashed morale of the staff still remaining in the company. This constant sea of hate is just killing the company. It's bound to affect/lower the quality of their future games... because they need their hearts to be in it and they need to be enthusiastic to create great games. Andromeda is a very good game with a TON of potential for a great sequel and great DLC... IF, and only if, the fans don't kill Bioware before they get a chance to develop that DLC and sequel(s).

Glad you're so gungho about the game, OP. Wish I could say the same.

I enjoyed the game immensely. A lot of flaws have been fixed with updates, which helped me enjoy it even more. I can live with some of the annoyances in the game (asari doppelgangers), it certainly didn't spoil it for me.

With 75% or so (actually it's just an educated guess) of the assets already placed onto the palette, I can't wait for more. DA4 is going to be great. My speculation is hot and unusually positive. Why? Patches 1.05 and 1.09. Polishing turned this game from a 6 to an 8 (kind of lean towards 7) but it would be completely horrible if we don't get DLC to wrap up some loose ends. #SaveTheQuarians and make it #soon!

Let's all just admit it. Sure, it was rushed like hell but it really is a spectacular mass effect game. It has a future. Great game, why not (at least good game), but great Mass Effect game, let's agree to disagree While I enjoyed the SP, I'm still disappointed for a Mass Effect game

Eh, if people can post negative threads. We can post positive threads as well. And unlike the negative threads that people like to trash the OP because it doesnt follow their perspective. I will respectfully stay out of this one. Well the reason is simple. Like begets like. You get back what you put out into the world. When you put out negativity, criticism, anger, unhappiness, you get exactly that back. When you put out fun, positivity, happiness, satisfaction, joy you get that back. Threads might get derailed when others bring their negativity into them but the negative ones, because they are negative, will initially attract that even from people who agree because they are agreeing on negativity.

MANY reviews also pointed out how the open world was not as immersive, sorry side quest design, uninteresting squad members, and not as engaging story and protagonist.....ALL things that a patch cannot fix and this is a representation of the game even today. It was the internet that made a big deal out of animations but the reviews attacked MEA on manh other fronts which lead to MEA being the worst reviewed Bioware game ever made.

I'll be happy to give it a 8 when it gets there. I don't think Andromeda is awesome or ever will be awesome to me, but I kinda liked it before, I like it now, and I hope to really like it by some point next year. I'll give the series one bad launch, but if it happens with a MEA2/ME4/ME5/whatever, I'm done. I'm certainly not desiring to preorder... any Bioware game in the future. Anthem and/or DA4 themselves will really have to pull me in, and I doubt they will (though like MEA and DAI, maybe I'll just get my partner to buy it for me during gifting season! ha!).

I honestly didn't notice that until the disembarking of the Asari Ark. I can see why, if I hadn't read all those complaints about the game I probably wouldn't have noticed that quickly either. There are only a few notable asari npc's up until that point, after all. I thought you said asian NPCs haha. On that note, I'm really tempted to make my eventual SisRyder Asian instead of my already-loved sister to my BroRyder. As for asari, the asari clones are actually one of my biggest 'they could fix this but they haven't yet' problems with MEA. Like if it is fixed, I will finally be strongly tempted to 8/10 MEA (though still maybe hold back to see DLC and stuff).

And it's nice they put some good asian (not asari haha) characters in the game as well. Captain Dunn is one of my favorite npc's.

I won't preorder until I see a pattern of releases that aren't going to send me to EA HQ looking for help. I swore off pre-ordering after Inquisition. I still bought Andromeda for the PS4 at launch for myself for my friend Paul who has that console. I got 90 hours on it. I wish I had waited until 1.09. My whole attitude would've been completely different.

Unfortunately this game was a victim of the Internet hate mob. It really is still a very good game despite it's flaws. Ya think?!? I was in west Texas for 14 months inspecting wells and pretty much out of the loop, except for local or national news whenever I came into stay at a scary Studio 6. Anyway, I get back home and ready to buy the Inquisition DLC that was released while I was gone. While I was looking for the forums (that were closed... bravo EA... sarcasm) to find some actual players that could comment on it I came across a story about DragonRacer. Then I came across YouTube and discovered Manveer Heir, some bullcrap SJW conspiracy, and boycotts against BioWare. I go to PAX South and there are people that are talking crap about BioWare very loudly and openly. I'm 45, so I acted my age, but damn... I wished I had recorded this crap so I can show how effective EA has been with BioWare. Or I should say, ineffective. That's my beef y'all. Image. BioWare's image was being a progressive art and writing studio that used computers for their canvas. Nothing in that ENTIRE YEAR (A WHOLE F***ING YEAR) did I read anything from EA or BioWare to change the tide. And Andromeda... a fiesta platter served hot and fresh for the haters and YouTube crowd. You can say f*** YouTube... it's dead... but the truth is: YouTube 15, EA/BioWare 0. I'm ranting. I know it. It's just that we're four months out, the developers have done an outstanding job and we're getting the usual NDA stuff. Ok, I'm out. Sorry for the salt. By the way, I eventually bought the DLC for Inquisition this past summer (it's summer... wtf am I saying.) and holy crap... it's great. I don't expect anything to be different with Andromeda. History is on my side. Oh, Lord, do I even wanna know? (My guess is my Superb HoK DAIMP quest YouTube/Twitch-fest. LOL That was a really fun running gag made out of pure rotten RNG luck.)

It was about the ban.

Oh, Lord, do I even wanna know? (My guess is my Superb HoK DAIMP quest YouTube/Twitch-fest. LOL That was a really fun running gag made out of pure rotten RNG luck.) It was about the ban. Ah yes, the permaban for quoting someone who said the word "fuck" in a post (but that person I quoted didn't get banned) and the comment that if the forum is closing, I figured it was couch-burning time. Yeah, I don't miss the BioModBots. The irony was that the devs got pissed and went in and un-permabanned me. Kinda moot since they were gonna nuke the forum from orbit anyway, but the gesture was appreciated.

The article didn't have a resolution but when I discovered these forums I sent you a message that it was great that you're running the show. This is my only haunt. Anywhere else I might get in trouble with my bosses on either side of the table.

The asian presets are really good, so why not? And it's nice they put some good asian (not asari haha) characters in the game as well. Captain Dunn is one of my favorite npc's. After animation fixes (which annoyingly haven't applied totally game-wide) to her lips, I'll take Dunn I also love the asian looks for both male and female Ryder, a first for me for a Bioware game. And frankly I have two paths for Bioware series now. 1)'Like me': male, white, younger (no longer just young haha), tall, thin to average, gay, dark brown hair, yadda yadda. Every game. 2)'Variety': I'm all for diversity as well, but just after my 'main series' (even if it gets weird with the main series with 3 gay protags LOL). If I go human in DA, it has to be of a different sort, and now with MEA, I'm ...really into the idea of a non-white, non-gay, non-male protag. And then further with whatever 3rd protag that might be in the series. Especially since Ryder is at least a LITTLE further away from what I'd call a 'white straight male' ..archetype? Or whatever. A little.

Unfortunately this game was a victim of the Internet hate mob. It really is still a very good game despite it's flaws. My pen and paper group who loves needling me about Andromeda recently shut up about it after patch 1.09. Now I'm getting, "EA should've waited. They messed up." I couldn't agree with them more. They definitely should have waited. It would not have necessarily shut the haters up but it would have given them less ammo.

I found the game very enjoyable and completed it before all the patches.
Just waiting to upgrade my PC before playing again as my AMD Phenom II 955 is struggling to play it at reasonable speed.
