I had a lot of fun playing the trial, then I bought the game and had a lot of fun playing it. I had a bug-free experience and the characters and story were entertaining. I enjoyed hundreds of hours of entertainment for my money, it was (and is) money well spent. I look forward to another Andromeda playthrough after I'm finished with my current Inquisition playthrough (then I'll probably play some more Witcher 3).

The circle jerk of congratulations is really something.
Positive posters in this thread = the good guys, the sane people, the grand majority, etc.
Any other position = reduced to complaints about animations, or flat out end-running the actual issues at hand by calling that person a troll, which the grand majority approves of.
@op - glad you enjoyed your game.
@the "grand" """majority""" - fucking gross.

I really like the more Whedon-esque approach. The OT was great, but I liked the lighter tone of MEA. The quippy humor was great, in my opinion.

There were some cringe moments, but over all I loved it. Stupid humor is assuredly my thing. Puns and the like. Love it.

There should be a wideworld law prohibiting people who worked on the development of Mass Effect Andromeda to ever work on a game again.

I saw the improvements over time, but it really took me some time to focus on the canvas itself. I saw a lot of work that went into the game post release. I also saw my initial investment eventually pay off in 92 hours. 30 of it was embarrassing and broken on the PS4. Patch 1.05, is when I bought the PC version for the new rig. I'm afraid it will make my current PC self-conscious. Besides the more I wait the more time I have to re-live Grunt's puberty test or every mission prior to the Thanix cannon sequence. The feel of clenched sphincter when you hear a Banshee scream or an Architect freaking arrives. I had to time to rerun my Inquisitor through the DLC and what made an above average game after five months of patching is pretty awesome. It earned GOTY with me. Too bad I didn't know about it. Solas! So... Yeah a lot of learning went on this past summer and spring. Oh yeah. It's well chronicled. The memes are truly forever. This ain't 8-track anymore. Barring the end times it will still be remembered as fact in hyperbolic fashion.

Before Andromeda released I posted that I would wait for real opinions before buying the game. After the reports from the Origin 10 hour trial and the YouTube memes no way was I going to purchase Andromeda, and I didn't despite following the game on BSN.
However, the PS4 free trial came up I tried it and the next day with the PSN sale I bought it. Andromeda intrigued me enough to give it a whirl.
I don't expect a great game (an 8-9) but I do think it will be enjoyable (a 6-7). There are animations that really annoy me every time they occur eg sometimes female Ryder's walk would be hard even for a male to do, and the dropped arms pose - how/why would you hold your arms like that and not have them straight down at rest?
But enough "nitpicking " I shall carry on with Andromeda and look forward to ME:A 2, after all there are only a few single player sci-fi games on the market.

Yes, not the best, but incredible when you consider that the lower-level developers churned this mother out in 18 months. Do I think DA4 and MEA2 will be better than their previous installment? Most certainly. I'm hyped (without a word from EA... tsk, tsk) for DA4. I'm ready. Anthem... gearing up for the inevitable "git gud."

The story is not one that instantly grabs people and it takes some time before one starts to see how all the little side quest pieces start to fit into the overall story arc... and a lot of gamers are just not used to taking it slow when progressing through a game. colfoley, way back when, started a thread where he described the character development in the game as a "slow burn" and I still think it's a great way to describe it. It took awhile for everything to start ot gel, but now that it has, I am far more invested in this game and with this crew than I ever was with Shepard and crew at the end of just ME1 and even well into ME2.

It took awhile for everything to start ot gel, but now that it has, I am far more invested in this game and with this crew than I ever was with Shepard and crew at the end of just ME1 and even well into ME2. Colfoley was one of the first people that caught wind burn from me. That's my guy. Red Sox fan and everything (which is wonderful. I'm a Yankee fan... you hear that? Hear that thunder? That's Judge, Sanchez, Frazier and the rest of the Baby Bombers coming for ya. Unh. August decides this race. Who can stand this heat? Boston has the veterans that can handle it. Most rookies fade under that sun and we're a roster full of rookies.) The game's launch was a lesson in psychology and personal stamina. I could see the potential and yet it wouldn't come to fruition until 1.09. Then you do see it for what's it worth and the hype window is past. I think it was admirable for Suikoden and MajesticJazz to extend the hype window, but yeah... that horse is no longer in existence. They can't realistically keep kicking 1.09 without having to repeat the same faults that has been talked about ad nauseum. (How's that for spin? )

But seriously, I have reasons to think Mass Effect Andromeda is a worthless piece of shit. That's what I call a game that is weak in absolutely EVERY aspect. It hurts even more when you compare to the original Mass Effect saga.
- Combat is much worse. It's not terrible, I had some fun moments with it, but being able to use only 3 powers is pathetic. Not being able to order companions to use powers or tactical freeze makes it much worse. At least they got better and more varied guns. But I still think it's absurd you have an incredible amount of skills to choose from, but you can only choose THREE! In the original saga you could choose 5 or 6, but at least you could use all of them.
- Characters are either boring or copied characters from previous games. I like Vethra, but she's a lackluster copy from Garrus. Drack is a Wrex's clone. Peebee is a much better Sera. SAM is a terrible replacement for EDI. Liam and Cora are just... ugh. Ryder also doesn't hold a candle to Shepard, and now they limited your choices meaning you can't be an asshole. Renegades were one of the most funny thing on the original Mass Effect. I wish so much I could say "I've had enough of your ingenuous assertions!" to Tann and punch him in the face.
- The performance issues are absurd. Stutters all the time, crashes during cutscenes, on launch it was almost like Batman: Arkham Knight for PC. It demands a lot from your PC to deliver "nice" graphics at best. Even at 1.05 it still sucked.
- Side quests are mostly boring. "Hey, go check those guys who disappeared, find out it's an ambush" or something like that. They really should have learned how to make side quests with CDPR. There are a few nice sidequests only.
- Story is lackluster, to be gentle. Also, it pretty much ignores the lore from previous Mass Effects, and it has less alien races than the previous Mass Effects, although we are in a new galaxy.
- Exploration is the worst of all games, like that could even be possible. I already hated the Mako, but the Nomad is the worst shit ever. WHY IN THE NAME OF FUCK did they have to do "two modes" for the nomad to go up a fucking hill even a normal car could go up while the Mako could go over mountains and even had a gun an a fucking cannon? Gosh, just give us a damn shuttle instead and let us fly around. It seems technology only goes backwards in Mass Effect.

The idea they had in mind is kind of cool, but just don't like the execution. Plus I'm more of a fan of restrictive classes over trying to let the character be a mix of everything. It's an issue I had with with skyrim too when you have a rouge hybrid wizard two handed sword warrior, makes no sense to me, same issue I have with biotic soldier engineer hybrids.

It's perfectly valid for you to not like the system. But, for instance, I don't really like that I have to hit LB+RB for a power, but I wouldn't ever say I was limited to two powers because of that.

3 powers is pretty pathetic. Weird. I had twelve. I think you are playing it wrong. You may have twelve, but you can only use 3 at a time. Isn't that wonderful?

I don't think there are enough buttons on my controller to use 12 powers at once, plus it's more than I got to use in the OT on one character, so that's pretty cool!
