Okay, I won't spoil it, but hey... what did you think of the Architects?

Cool at first...but got repetitive with so many of them and doing the same thing unlike the dragons in DAI.

I thought they were pretty awesome! Ran into my first one on Eos pretty early on, and it was the most difficult fight I had in the game although the one on Voeld was a pain in the ass, lol.

I say - DAI dragons were way better. Architects look cool once you see them for the first time, but they are ALL the same and technically they are irrelevant. Combat mechanics are mediocre too.
The only good thing about them (other than their looks) is that they are optional. Unlike the orb+shield guys....geez, I hated each and every one of those, and I think there had been a dozen or so, with most of them belonging to the main story missions.

They looked very cool but the fights got rather repetitive and I kept waiting for them to be further expanded on lore-wise, which they never really were.
Also am I the only one who thought the giant Remnant sandworm on Elaaden was supposed to be an Architect? I really wish they expanded more on that too.

Instead we got 3 fiends The fiends were fun but yeah, when I first saw the sandworm I nearly soiled my drawers thinking "oh shit, am I gonna have to fight that??" And I thought the giant Remnant ship would also be a part of some awesome setpiece battle a la Rannoch in ME3. Elaaden could have been so awesome, but outside of the krogan colony worldbuilding and the water shortage subplot it all felt like a bit of a letdown.

It would have been cool if we got some bonus boss battle after defeating all the architects. Like an Architect Prime or something. Maybe the worm could have been the architect prime. Seems like a wasted opportunity. Good XP though.

It's a shame the combat mechanics were pretty much exactly the same for each one (with Voeld's minor addition of needing to stay indoors or near a space heater). So long as you find an appropriately large piece of cover, you're only going to die if you make a mistake or if you don't kill the adds fast enough. That said, the last Architect battle was friggin cool (you know which one I mean )

Not really? I mean - not really 'friggin cool'. That's if we're talking about the same one. It was reusing of all the same stuff again. 'Hacking'\'defend the base' borrowed from ME3 MP combined with the same waves of the same mobs we'd been fighting for ~hundred of hours (some more orbs+shields included).
Nothing comparable to ME3. Rannoch Reaper, Touchanka Reaper - now THAT was epic! Hell, even ME2 Mr.Skull had better pacing and more diverse combat design. Note that I'm not talking about the plot or visuals here, I'm talking about the encounter itself. It could have been SO much better.

After my 3rd try, I figured out what I needed to do to stop it. Not a bad fight. Like the goodies Ryder gets at the end of the fight.

Speaking of the "worm" - or the Abyssal, as they call it - I had a very interesting situation on my first PT.
I was roaming about the northern desert when suddenly Cora screams "RYDER! ABYSSAL!" and I try to fight the traction to GET THE FUCK OUT OF DODGE...
Well, I failed but as luck had it, I ended up BETWEEN the two bits that make up the abyssal, Nomad flanked by it on either side some five meters away. That was... an experience.

That said, the last Architect battle was friggin cool (you know which one I mean ) I would agree with this if this was my first encounter with it. My first reaction was, "really? This again?" I wish you could have only had the option to kill the Architech (damn auto-correct won't let me do Architech s still? I give upš) after the ending.

For me it wasn't so much the enemy that I found repetitive, it was the same mechanics and stakes, which I thought the final encounter mixed up nicely.

Cool fight I guess but I'd loved to be more story behind them and a more tangible reward for beating all of them.

Cool fight I guess but I'd loved to be more story behind them and a more tangible reward for beating all of them. This is what I mean about missed potential. The assets are there, but never fully exploited. It's frustrating. I said it months ago, there is a lot of missed potential, but I couldn't explain why. Here is a perfect example.

The first one was cool, mostly because I didn't know what it was. I was doing a quest hitting these hammers and all of a sudden there it was, a genuine WTF moment. So after running around for a while trying to figure out what to do, I finally figured out the strategy and killed it.
They got less and less interesting after the first one though.

Yeah they'er great fun to fight. The one on Voeld I find the easiest to kill as usually I just stay near the heaters and poke my head out once in a while and blast away at it. None of them are particularly easy though. Yup, I ended up doing the same. I normally like to move around a lot, which was why I found it a bit annoying. But hey, a good pathfinder adapts! I'm the opposite really I don't like jumping around really but you have to with the Architects otherwise you'll die pretty quickly going up against them. I would say the Eos one is probably the most difficult to kill though. At least of the 4 main ones you fight. I found the Voeld one easiest because even though the environment can do as much damage as the Architect itself you do have the buildings at least for cover and the heaters in them should help keep you in the fight too. you just need to remember where they are or stay close to them because you will need them. As you'll never stay alive long enough to take the Architect down without them.
