ME:A sold as well as it did off the reputation of the highly acclaimed MET, there was never any question of it shipping units at release. A ME:A2 would need to sell off the back of MA:A, a much riskier investment for a high budget AAA title. I'm still of the opinion that EA are on the fence about a sequel and intend a DLC release to test player retention before making any final decision on the franchise.

Well they didn't praise MEA's sales to high heavens specifically but it seems it still helped them make an overall profit. I don't think this is proof either way that the game sold good or bad or "enough".

I think MEA must have outperformed EA's expectations. There's no way they didn't know the game was a bit of a mess on release. I would expect a pre-patched Andromeda to tank, certainly not to be a "significant contributor" to my profit.
What that means for the future is still a complete unknown.

From my very limited understanding of these things, this sounds like good news! Indeed I think we can al consider ourselves happy bunnies now but then I don't think we can truly start celebrating until the DLC's start coming out. But at least now there's a better chance we will be seeing them. |

Significant contributor could mean anything. It could contribute 10% of digital sales and this would make it a significant contributor. It's all legalese to shelter Bioware from more scorn while they work on what EA hopes is the next Overwatch. Seeing as there's no sales numbers, and no exhaltation of sales a la Inquisition... Game underperformed. What kind of insane logic is that?!  To be fair to the guy, it's not as bad as that time where he tried to claim EA's public admission that DS3 (a game with DLC) didn't sell well meant that no such admission on MEA's front indicated the MEA DLC was cancelled. This is just a rehash of when he changed his avatar to Sinclair Networks's announcement then changed it to something else when it turned out to be fake. |

No, I can blame him. What he did was very unprofessional and childish and made, even more, people question his article. Yeah, I, too, can completely blame him. That shit with the Twitter posts was, and still is, shit. My feeling is, if he has something to say to the forum members he can create an account and start a discussion. But ghosting the forum so he can post screenshots to his Twitter feed? Nah. I have no respect for that. People here were calling him a "cunt" a "douche" a liar, etc. I don't blame him one bit. |

I love how people dismissing evidence provide by EA, yet put a lot of trust to some drama queen Kotaku blogger with sources that aren't even from BioWare nor EA. It is pretty much given now, ME:A had sold well. We don't know how well, but EA was quite clearly happy months ago and now stated it ME:A is the biggest contributor of their increase in sales. Also EA states digital sales make up for 63% of their overall sales. So, let's go with VHCarts numbers that only shows physical sales. ME:A sold 1.01 million copies on PS4, 0.55 million on XBOX One and 0,10 on PC. So those sales represent 37% of ME:A overall sales, so it means ME:A had actually sold 4,48 millions of copies! That's a great result, considering EA's expected sales numbers were 3 million copies sold. Your calculations may be a little off since EA does also state that digital sales on the consoles accounts for 34% now, up from 27% the prior year. Overall, it's when they factor in the PC game sales along with other digital sales like DLC, the ratio climbs to 63%. We still don't know how much the ratio of full game sales only on the PC might skew this result, but given the nature of those other services, I would expect it to be a little lower than 63%. It does seem very likely that total sales on the PS4 and Xbox One to June 10th alone amounted to approximately 2.09 million units (1.56 from VGChartz grossed up by 34%) |

However,, my avatar WAS copied by him to Twitter and the worst I called him was "unprofessional." I think it's perfectly reasonable for me to still think that his actions in that regard were indeed both "childish and unprofessional." I do blame him for his own actions... he should take full responsibility for them. I have also never engaged in calling suikoden names despite his having insulted me and others personally more than once... the most recent, of course, being called "rabble" by him (earlier in this thread) for merely having had my avatar plastered on Twitter by Schreier). |

Of course, when they state that 34% of their console sales are digital, that doesn't mean "exactly 34% for each game". Xbox One also likely has a significant portion of its sales as digital, given EA Access and the early trial. And people who bought the game after the recent trial most likely went digital rather than physical.
EA obviously isn't into exact numbers, but it is a safe bet that more than 34% of Andromeda's console sales were digital.
