Edit: I just remembered something that made me laugh of so poorly written it is. On the first fight against the kett, Liam shouted "That creature doesn't seem to like me. Maybe because I shot it on the face!!". That was just so stupid I've never put Liam on my party again. It's a good example of why the dialogues seem to have been writen by a 12 year old. This is pretty much a poster child for YMMV. I liked that line fine. Hell, I might actually say that sort of thing myself in a firefight, if I wasn't too busy screaming in terror. One of the things that really bothers me about the Initiative is that they seem to have brought along the most unprofessional people in the entire Milky Way.

Actually, ME1 gameplay falls apart at higher levels, so you're better off using the Mako cannon to avoid the XP. Screw that, moar XP, always. The Mako handles like a drunken elephant, it's also more fun to jump out and kill stuff with the squad instead of handling that poorly-sighted primitive boom stick on top of the drunk elephant.

I'm really glad the Nomad didn't have guns because if it had guns the devs would have inevitably created situations for which you were required to use them. Personally I just prefer to get out and fight. Shooting enemies w/ the Mako is both boring/repetitive and annoying. Hammerhead was so supremely annoying to handle in every way; I almost didn't play Overlord (a great DLC, imo) because of it.. The Nomad is the best by far, especially after you upgrade it for hills.

Mako has a cannon, it's much better than the Nomad. So all you need is a gun for something to be better, regardless of any other quality?

While I agree that this post isn't exactly constructive, why is it considered bait when the "Andromeda is Awesome!!!" thread, which is also not constructive, is not? They represent two different extremes, and yet for some reason, people seem to go after only one of them.

There have been plenty of posts "going after" that thread, so I'm not buying into your assertion that it's only the negative criticism threads that get attacked around here.

Well things also die if I run it over in the mako, I can't even kill kett in the Nomad unless I run it over 5+ times. Nomad travels better but I still prefer the mako.

I don't really understand the logic that having less options makes something better. I do agree with the broad point though, the Nomad is probably the most well-implemented drivable vehicle I've ever used in a computer game. I really like how they took cues from the Nolan Batmobile. That's actually why I wanted missiles and guns on it, to truly complete it

If it would be good to shoot things with the cannon or not it's irrelevant, the point is it seems technology is going backwards. At least when they added "ammo" to weapons they explained it. They could at least say "hey, this truck doesn't have guns because it would take a lot of energy" or something like that. But what I really don't like is that you have to "change the drive mode" for the smallest inclinations that even a real life car could go through. And even with this mode sometimes it can't climb, while the mako could climb even mountains. It's very annoying and you have to climb places ALL THE TIME.

There were places too steep to climb in the Mako as well and you had to climb all the time in a drunken elephant. As for the gear shift, I like it. It's also handy when one is losing control at some high speed hijinks, you can "lower the gear" and get control again. It's just pressing a button. You're complaining about pushing a button.

I don't understand the tech argument. The Mako having a gun didn't imply that every ATV in the universe had one. The Mako was built for one purpose, the Nomad another.

There is the argument that a) the Nomad is a (rejected) military design and a Pathfinder team ground transport would presumably need to be armed for the same reason the team is armed. IIRC the codex implies that the Nomad and Mako were competing designs. Having said that, I agree the tech argument doesn't make sense.

It's annoying to have to do that all the time for the smallest purposes. What's the deal with just making a vehicle that can actually normally climb? And like I said, you have to press (which lowers your speed a lot) even to climb a hill that a normal real life car in 2017 could climb. It's not the fact that is "very annoying to press a button": It's unnecessary and it doesn't make any sense. It doesn't imply that every ATV in the universe had one, but surely the Pathfinder would probably use it, especially if you're exploring new planets, with probably many new hostile species.

The Nomad doesn't waste my time like the Mako did. It's faster and can actually climb things; the amount of time i wasted in ME1 trying to climb a slope probably added 4 times to the game length, and just wasn't fun. The Nomad, especially fully upgraded with its boost, is vastly superior.

Crikey - Even in 6-wheel drive, the nomad is as fast as the mako ever was. Newsflash - a lot of people here in 2017 still drive a stick, particularly off road. It's not like the nomad is being driven along on paved highways. Here in rural Canada, I have had to go into a lower gear to get up some not very steep but slippery hills... mud, loose gravel, sand, snow and ice. This is an off-road vehicle, and being able to shift into lower gears and 4-wheel drive is a real asset.

That's actually why I wanted missiles and guns on it, to truly complete it I mean fair enough, no, you didn't literally have to use the Mako, but there were many combat sections for various missions designed specifically with using the Mako in mind. Some Mako missions were fine without Mako fighting, but others had lots of Armatures and Collosuses easily killed by the cannon (in addition to Destroyers, Juggernauts, rocket bombers....), so it is a little more trouble than it's worth to get out and kill them "by hand," especially if you're Biotic or Sentinel. It's not impossible, but.... (You did have to use the Hammerhead for Overlord, though.) If they could find a way to make the combat in the vehicle satisfying and dynamic, instead of so pew-pew-pew, I probably wouldn't mind guns on the next vehicle... since they've finally made a drivable one...

This is an off-road vehicle, and being able to shift into lower gears and 4-wheel drive is a real asset. It's a long time since I've played ME1, but I don't remember the Mako being as slow as the Nomad on six-wheel mode. I hated the Mako too, but it could climb mountains and jump far higher, but the handling really wasn't good. Thing is, we have cars in 2017 that can do what the Nomad do, you'd expect that more than 150 years into the future they would have done something far better. It's funny how everybody else on the planet uses shuttles and small ships, but you're stuck with the Nomad. I understand shuttles would've made exploration pretty pointless, but they could have at least given us a floating vehicle like the Hammerhead. And the Hammerhead was pretty fast, since you think Mako was slow.
