? Two months after Mass Effect: Andromeda launched to dismal critical reception, reports from Kotaku's Jason Schreier indicate EA down-sized BioWare Montreal, the studio that made the game, and put the Mass Effect series on hiatus. The remaining BioWare developers were then spread out across EA Motive and BioWare's core Edmonton division to help work on the latter's new IP, Anthem, the reports continue. Now EA has officially confirmed the fate of its Montreal studio, validating the reports from May of this year. While discussing R&D spend in a recent quarterly earnings call, EA Chief Financial Officer Blake Jorgensen said BioWare Montreal has been moved into the EA Motive studio to help Jade Raymond's team develop a new IP. "We're building out a new studio in Montréal, as we've told everyone. And we've hired over 100 people into that studio that are brand-new to EA. This is to build the new IP around Jade Raymond's team that she's been building. I was in that studio last month. And it's a wonderful new addition to our team. And we brought our BioWare Montréal team into that same facility. So they now all sit in one new studio together," Mr. Jorgensen said during the call. Read more: www.tweaktown.com/news/58611/ea-confirms-bioware-montreal-moved-motive/index.html"And we brought our BioWare Montréal team into that same facility. So they now all sit in one new studio together." That's...not closed down. That's moving into new digs. It's a thing called streamlining. With unifying all EA's studio using Frostbite engine, EA is now able to shuffle developers from all around it's international corporation to work on any game. We seen that with Mass Effect Andromeda, where EA Sports developers aided BW Montreal in body animations and vegetation development. So there's no point to have different studios within same city, so it was only logical to move BW Montreal to Motive Studios as they're both in Montreal. I'm assuming Motive Studio simply had much larger facility.

So you don't have the original copy of the article... which is the main problem here. Since the article has been changed several times, many (including me) don't have faith in the article's author... that combined with their childish behavior towards folks here on a fan site. No. The main problem here is that you think it's fine to believe random users on a internet board talking about things that cannot be proven yet think you can call an article by a journalist baseless rumor simply because parts of it weren't officially adressed by EA. No, the main problem is a "journalist" changing their article repeatedly (including the title) and that "journalist" attacking members of some small internet fan site. This "journalist" also has a history of being wrong and lashing out at folks.

I find it tragically funny that threads meant to discuss other news almost always eventually devolve into a dissection of the now infamous Kotaku article, where Jason Schreier claims no DLC will be released for the game (or at least wasn't at the time he wrote that article). Dissecting said article provides us no further insight into whether or not EA/BioWare will release DLC or when. Claiming he was wrong about this so he may be wrong about that is about as useful as claiming he was right about that so he may be right about this. The long and short of it is neither EA nor BioWare have announced any DLC for the game so far. As others have suggested with the recent survey, perhaps EA is now re-evaluating people's perception of the game to decide whether or not to breathe new life into it and release new content. The fact that EA have stated in their latest earnings call that year-on-year growth was driven by Andromeda (and FIFA) is somewhat encouraging but far from conclusive. There are no assurances. All we can do at this point is wait and see.

One studio makes more sense financially, and from a management standpoint, than two.

This is probably why he shouldn't have started changing it in the first place and just went with the normal retractions - which keeps the original article intact.

Nope. The main problem here is you just won't let it go. Who exactly do you think you are? People don't like the guy due to his appalling behavior. That's more than sufficient reason. Frankly, who cares how many times he did or didn't change the article. Not one person here needs to explain or justify why they don't like him or trust him. I don't care if he never changed his article. He's a tool. He behaves like a tool. Plenty here saw him behave like a tool. Actually he behaved like a 10 year old. Not exactly professional in any sense. So yeah, I'll pick random rumors over him. They have far more credibility at this point than someone who always uses unnamed sources then trolls forums and the users of the forums getting his fanboy posse on twitter to make fun of copy and pasted posts from here. That's scummy behavior. Nothing about it has a whiff of professionalism and if people think he's a lying sack of nothing after that, so be it. His behavior lends itself to that assumption. He's done it more than once too. Other forums. Other stories. He was wrong. Didn't like being called out about it. Pitched a fit. Same tired thing. Perhaps he should concern himself more with getting the story right and when he gets it wrong, admit it rather than take to bullying baby games.

I don't think he is. Covering himself makes it sould that he will be right either way, DLC or no DLC. But he won't. But I understand your confusion. When he says there won't be a DLC, it's short term. It's no DLC in the works right now. And so, it's impossible that a major DLC will be announced for next week, or even in August. If that happens, he would have been wrong. When he says plans might change, it would mean that EA would decide to make a DLC, would work on it, and release it much latter. Say, November or even next year. If that happens, then there will be a DLC but he woudn't have been wrong. It's a matter of timing. And of course, if a major DLC is release soon and he tries to say plans change and he wasn't wrong, then I'd say he is being deceitful. At this stage dude, I can only conclude you either don't understand english or that you've lost the plot. I mean you keep saying that he didn't do this, he didn't do that etc and you keep quoting instances where he does precisely what you're claiming he didn't. And frankly, the idea that he only meant that there was 'never going to be DLC' in the immediate time period doesn't even constitute valid grammar, let alone make any sense. But I believe this discussion have gone long enough. I only say that people should try to open the possibility that Jason is indeed right. That his article is not made up and that he doesn't have an agenda against people or Bioware. Have you sort of... missed the whole point behind this discussion? The argument is not about whether he's correct. It's about whether or not he's making believable claims. Of course there's a possibility he could be correct, geez. If there wasn't there would be no discussion to be had.

Well, if I'm reading this right, then it's the article form 13 minutes after it was created? Then it would prove that not only the title was edited almost immediately after it was created but also that it doesn't have any edit. Unless I got something wrong.

Bioware Montreal moved to another building. What's hard to understand about that? Let's be honest dude, when EA says they're happy with MEA's performance and how it made money, there are people on here that tried to argue that meant it was the opposite. I'm amazed that they're not trying to argue this means Anthem has been cancelled.

Why is there so much aggressivity from those who absolutely believe that there will be DLC, that MEA was a financial success, etc. and why is there so much misinformation or outright lies? Kotaku's article that is so heavily criticized never said Mass Effect was dead. Here's an except from their article: "That doesn’t mean there will never be another Mass Effect game, of course. It’s unlikely that BioWare will kill the popular sci-fi franchise. But BioWare is letting Mass Effect sit for a while rather than putting staff on Andromeda’s follow-up right away, those sources said." kotaku.com/sources-bioware-montreal-downsized-mass-effect-put-on-1795100285Yet all I read is "Kotaku is clickbait claiming ME is dead!!" I take Kotaku's articles as possible but am neither so quick to dismiss it (and believe blindly the contrary) nor do I believe what they say to be undisputed fact. But what they say only lines up with everything else we've seen/heard. It seems some people really are in an echo chamber, only hearing what they want to hear, becoming aggressive (perhaps "triggered" is a better word) every time someone gives a more nuanced analysis of the situation. Basically to them, MEA was an undisputed financial success, no other way to see the situation, and we should expect to see a buttload of DLC and a sequel soon. There's a difference between being hopeful and looking at these numbers as a good sign, and outright believing that your conclusion is the only valid one, discarding any discordant analyses or counter arguments. Destructoid's analysis of these good numbers take into account the weak line-up of Q1 2016 and ask the good questions. Are these results in line with their expectations? Did the game under, out, or perform as well as they expected to? These are points that need to be taken into consideration, but people here don't want to. Remember when the Tomb Raider reboot sold well, becoming one of the best-selling game of the franchise, yet was still considered a failure by Square Enix? www.eurogamer.net/articles/2013-03-26-tomb-raider-has-sold-3-4-million-copies-failed-to-hit-expectationsThese "good numbers" mean nothing without the correct perspective. I would not be so hasty to jump to conclusions, and I certainly would not be part of those insulting sites that have come to a different one. I thought the article was kinda exaggerating things a little bit based on a statement that was made by EA that I felt could've meant anything. BTW, has Jason called out any of my comments on BSN?

I thought the article was kinda exaggerating things a little bit based on a statement that was made by EA that I felt could've meant anything. BTW, has Jason called out any of my comments on BSN? He'd be nuts to mess with Guts.

No kidding. You know that Youngyea Youtuber? He basically said MEA was "barely mentioned" in the earnings report. However, I don't know if he understands what "significant contributer" means.😑 It's profitable to hate ME: A it seems. A lot of Yongyea's recent videos were all about him shitting on Andromeda for stuff like animations, Bioware being silent about DLC, alpha version looking better, etc. I mean, we get it, ideally he would shut up and move on, but no, taking time out of the day to shit on things you don't like is cool in the world of youtube and youtube comments.

Will Anthem and DA4 won't be shown at Gamescom. Clearly EA is so angry with ME:A selling poorly that BioWare is getting shut down entirely! Look at how many developers left BioWare recently! EA is killing BioWare! It had finally come to this!!!
