It's profitable to hate ME: A it seems. A lot of Yongyea's recent videos were all about him shitting on Andromeda for stuff like animations, Bioware being silent about DLC, alpha version looking better, etc. I mean, we get it, ideally he would shut up and move on, but no, taking time out of the day to shit on things you don't like is cool in the world of youtube and youtube comments. I used to be a subscriber to...but I saw one like at the title and I was like I'm done. The only reason I watched was to maybe give him the benefit of the doubt being a clickbait title and all. But the video was what the title says it is. The best part? He even highlights what was said, but doesn't bring up what was actually said. Of course, his thumbnail is the infamous face gif/meme whatever it is.

The comments are certainly interesting. Also, the fact he uses that thumbnail says it all really.

Quoting another user. "*Yoda *Really? Inside information you must have hmmm? Proof you have? No? Stop spreading rumors you must."But I believe this discussion have gone long enough. I only say that people should try to open the possibility that Jason is indeed right. That his article is not made up and that he doesn't have an agenda against people or Bioware. He admitted to changing the title in the comments. Jason Schreier Rer 5/10/17 3:52pm Yeah, I’ve actually changed the headline from ‘Downsized’ to ‘Scaled Down’ to make it clear that people were moved, not laid off. He edited the title for clarity? HE SITS ON A THRONE OF LIES!

? Two months after Mass Effect: Andromeda launched to dismal critical reception, reports from Kotaku's Jason Schreier indicate EA down-sized BioWare Montreal, the studio that made the game, and put the Mass Effect series on hiatus. The remaining BioWare developers were then spread out across EA Motive and BioWare's core Edmonton division to help work on the latter's new IP, Anthem, the reports continue. Now EA has officially confirmed the fate of its Montreal studio, validating the reports from May of this year. While discussing R&D spend in a recent quarterly earnings call, EA Chief Financial Officer Blake Jorgensen said BioWare Montreal has been moved into the EA Motive studio to help Jade Raymond's team develop a new IP. "We're building out a new studio in Montréal, as we've told everyone. And we've hired over 100 people into that studio that are brand-new to EA. This is to build the new IP around Jade Raymond's team that she's been building. I was in that studio last month. And it's a wonderful new addition to our team. And we brought our BioWare Montréal team into that same facility. So they now all sit in one new studio together," Mr. Jorgensen said during the call. Read more: www.tweaktown.com/news/58611/ea-confirms-bioware-montreal-moved-motive/index.html"And we brought our BioWare Montréal team into that same facility. So they now all sit in one new studio together." That's...not closed down. That's moving into new digs. It's an annoyingly vague statement, drenched in corporate speak, though. People focus a lot on the "same facility" part of that statement, and seem to ignore "new studio". I'm not making any claims to which is the correct interpretation, but it certainly can be read as "we've relocated the members of the BioWare Montreal team, they are now part of the new studio we are building under the Motive name". Again, not saying that's what they mean, but it's a possible and valid way to read it. "Studio" when talking game developers has a connotation of "this corporate entity that produces games" rather than "shared office space".

BioWare has been co-sharing the new studio space with Motive for a while. It isn't as if they just moved in.

There's no annoyingly vague statements about it. They just said very clearly in english that they hired 100 more to work on someone specific's team for an IP they are working on and that they moved the montreal team into that space as well. The clarification we got seems like people now want to refuse acceptance or put in on EA. Same Facility is as clear as it gets. They weren't downsized They weren't fired. They weren't sent packing or moved to some dark side of the moon. It was an office change. How is that corporate speak.
It's worth noting that none of this would even be a fucking discussion if Schrier hadn't been the town crier that went on a kick to report information that now proves to not be accurate at all as best as I can tell. These debates have grown tiresome and all of them stem from his not very accurate journalism. Did he get any of that article about montreal right? Any of it? If he had not rung that bell, I doubt we'd have a subforum with about 100 pages total on all things related to montreal and what that means for the game's future including DLC. Montreal BW moved to another building and it could be as simple as leasing issues for all we know. But it was reported as anything but that. Unfucking believable.

This is an ongoing process, but there are many exciting roles and opportunities for everyone on the team.” techraptor.net/content/bioware-montreal-merge-ea-motive

How about you provide a source that isn't a site that panders to the type of people who lie about, harass, and threaten women who work at BioWare?
Show me literally one single other site that has actually contacted EA themselves and gotten the same reply. Hell, show me one gaming journalism site that anyone actually gives a crap about, not these niche pandering trash hills like MMORPG or TechRaptor.

Montreal BW moved to another building and it could be as simple as leasing issues for all we know. But it was reported as anything but that. Unfucking believable. Very much this. The thing that confused me most about Schrier's article was how adamant he was about no DLC coming but with reasoning for it sounding like hogwash (In a world of Dead Space 3 DLC and Titanfall 2 map packs, the idea that all DLC would be cancelled on the basis of not enough 80s reviews sounded ridiculous). However, if the guy knew that there wasn't any DLC coming because his source told him that there would be no teams to do it (thanks to office moves and reorg - i.e. 'rows and rows of empty desks') but decided to spice it all up for teh clickz... maybe throw in a bit of drama about office politics and word of mouth debacles... that would certainly explain it all. Journos typically don't make things up from scratch after all when the bare bones are already there to create an outrage around. Having said all that, this would work as a neat reason as to why we only got one DLC. I'm not sure it explains *zero* DLC. If they already had plans in place for dev then I could imagine one of Bioware's other studios doing it in their stead - it's reasonably common for DLC to be made by other Bioware studios for one of their games. It's only rare for it to be the first DLC due to it normally being handled by the studio that did the game, but in this case, as has been indicated, they likely wouldn't have time.

To sum up, the clickbait factor for video game "journalists" is the same uber low standard for professional wrestling "journalists." a five pound bag of salt is required before reviewing any article in either genre. I've written professionally in the blogosphere about pro wrestling so I have insight into the latter and there is, in my view, a parallel.

A lot of people bought it, but I guess not many finished it. Played too little of it. If you sell 4 million copies and Origin shows an average play time of 6 hours, you still have financial succes from original sales but aren't making DLC.

Still, MissFluffy, you are going to have to either bring the pure hate or get yourself to "Qui-Gon Glenn level" of bitterness with "a small dash of sense of humor", or you will just be ignored by everyone.

A disturbing thought: MEA was a financial success but it doesn't matter. EA's ultimate plan is to move the entirety of Bioware to focus on multiplayer games since they generate income over a long period of time. After DA4 is released there'll either be some controversy to serve as an excuse for shelfing it or it'll be excellent and they've decided to end the DA franchise on a "high note." Afterwards they're moved to working on Anthem. Or maybe a DA online.
The horror... the horror.

For those who want dlc, I'd say start being legit worried if September rolls around and there's still nary a peep out of any official source.

Knowing EA I'm shocked they didn't try to sell at least a few microtransactions. Make some money off selling weapons and such.

I'd like dlc, but I don't think it's happening. I work at a store that sells MEA and it's been on sale forever. That's obviously just one tiny snapshot in a huge market but anecdotally I have tons of longtime trilogy fans who either couldn't finish it or played it once and haven't touched it since. I'm sure EA has origin numbers that reflect this. I imagine it sold well largely due to preorders and the inbuilt loyal base, but tapered off quickly. The reviews were fairly unanimous in calling in bad to mediocre - I think it's clear to EA something went really wrong, and dlc hasn't been deemed cost effective to produce.
This is all just me speculating, but I would bet money on there being no dlc ever at this point.
