Lulwot PS. Looking forward to Luzarius showing up and teaching us about anatomy Bioware goes out of their way to male sure that their game is accepted by all demographics and that isnt a bad thing. With TW3, it is my perception that while many different demographics could enjoy the game, their target audience was the hetero male gamer. Definitely. Diversity is a good thing. I think Cyberpunk will have more of it. But I don't think all demographics were satisfied with DAI. To return to my point, do you think the lack of traditionally beautiful women in DAI primed men to hate on MAE?

With TW3, it is my perception that while many different demographics could enjoy the game, their target audience was the hetero male gamer. Yep, but IMO it wasn't as blatant as in TW or TW2. I think CDPR improved a lot on this (and on everything, it's wild to think the same studio did TW and TW3, the quality gap is huge).

I'll take the bait.
Background - I am a straight female and I like to play the Bioware romance arcs (it is embarrassing, but I do enjoy them). I usually play either as a female with the male love-interest OR is as the male with a female love interest (though I did roll M/M once in DAI because I adored Dorian and wanted to see what happened in a romance with him). I also like the LI's to be attractive folks, because I like pretty things (yes..it is shallow...but it is honest). I also loved TW3 and thought Triss and Yen were beautiful pixelated gals.
HOWEVER...I think you are really blowing smoke, OP.
Cassandra was hot and had a sexy accent. In my opinion, she was as hawt (and confident and capable) as Triss and Yen. She had a classic romance arc where you got to be the one guy (ie, the "special" guy) that can break thru her tough exterior to find the sweet romantic gal underneath. That's about as ego-stroking as a Bioware romance arc can be. She also had great boobies. I mean...what the hell more do ya want? Seems like male fantasy through and through to me.
Sera was not for you. She was the F/F choice. Are you gonna start complaining about Cullen too (who was also for the ladies)? Cause he lacked boobies for you?
Sheesh. I mean, come on.

No. There may have been other reasons for the hate bashing of MEA. I do not think these were the prime ones at all. I think both you and your elephant are barking up the wrong tree. Other reasons for men to hate on MEA could be: - lack of imagination - lack of a life - daddy/mommy issues - poor social skills - desperate need for validation - need for feeling in control of something - no real girls in their life - picked on in school - testosterone imbalance Sadly, I am no expert on male aggression. I would suggest consulting a psychology textbook.

'I want goddamn pornstars in my game who are only there to be fucked brutaly by me and serve me, cause I am the epitome of manliness and bitches just needa be hot' Is what the OP wants to say but doesn't have the balls for. You're welcome. Can you see the logical fallacy here? If you're 100% A, you must be 100% Z. In fact, Yennefer is my gold standard female character. If anything, she's got Geralt (me) on a tight leash. She's even more dynamic in the Witcher novels. And Geralt's vulnerability is even more on display. Listen to the audiobooks. Gorgeous, sensitive. Very human, moving stories. That's really great, but you'd be complainging if she was exactly the same character with a different appearance not to your taste. Just like you bitched about Cassandra.

...That was quite a post to read. I do believe that part of the reason dudebros hated the game was that Bioware doesn't pander to them as much as the majority of game developers do, but your solution to that is to make 50 % of the population feel unwelcome by being relegated to eye candy? Yeah, no. That's how YOU experienced the game. Cool. But do you think the lack of traditionally beautiful women in DAI primed a lot of MEN to hate on MAE? That's the question I'm asking. No. There may have been other reasons for the hate bashing of MEA. I do not think these were the prime ones at all. I think both you and your elephant are barking up the wrong tree.

IMO, if anyone was "primed" to hate Andromeda, I'd guess it had less to do with Inquisition and it's entirely subjective lack of female spankbank material specifically, and more to do with general Internet circlejerk cynicism and meme culture. I mean, bless their hearts but let's be honest, Bioware has been fumbling the ball on the handling of their public image for a long time, from the acquisition by EA, the infamous Awesome Button, the ME3 ending fiasco, the handling (or lack thereof) of their community assets, etc., and I think the cumulative effect of dozens of poorly received decisions both in-game and out have positioned them squarely in damned-if-they-do-or-don't territory. Seems like some people and certain communities thereof are just determined to hang on to bitterness, and will find some crusade to latch their hate on to, however tenuous or shallow. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Something the elephant and the internet have in common...

Alas, this world is far from ideal. It's part of human nature to judge according to looks, which again brings us back to Bioware's mistake. They made a game for an ideal world.

By only including women who fit outdated, unhealthy and sometimes misogynistic physical stereotypes to cater to a male audience? Yes.

Bioware goes out of their way to male sure that their game is accepted by all demographics and that isnt a bad thing. I think there was a snowball effect of past Bioware transgressions that lead to the hate of MEA. It was sort of the tipping point for many people and it will be interesting to see how Bioware responds with DA4 without Gaider being the lead writer this time around.

And I would add that for many hetero males, the beauty issue is one of those transgressions.

Putting aside the fact that I very much doubt that a perceived lack of attractive love interests is the main reason to the Internet-wide animation tantrum, you still haven't given a satisfactory answer to why female characters should be designed to be sexually attractive to straight men first and foremost. The majority of the gaming industry already panders to straight men, so it's not like there's a lack of games made for them. Frankly, if those "people" are immature enough to throw a tantrum about fictional characters not being sexually attractive enough, they probably shouldn't be playing games rated M in the first place, and they definitely shouldn't have any form of influence over character design.
