Eh, I've never looked for eye candy in video games. Not going to start now You and me both. Anytime someone brings up those two words I think: media.giphy.com/media/xJA42KbtdlcY0/giphy.gifJust read this article. Agreed with most of it, but why doesn't anybody talk about one of the biggest reasons for all the hate: Sera and Cassandra? Hetero males who felt neglected by the opposite sex options in DAI were primed to hate MAE. Big time. When the animations turned out to be lousy, they had a good excuse to viciously attack the game. Many games like Skyrim and Fallout (even Witcher 3!) have had their flaws, but gamers were/are more forgiving because they had never been made to feel abandoned. There's a bit a eye-candy in these games, even though they aren't romance RPGs. People like eye-candy, both men and women. That's a fact that is never going to change. But the media seems to pretend its not a factor in people's purchases. Male fear of female power in games (and in society generally) is real, and the lack of traditionally beautiful, feminine females in DAI confirmed that fear for a LOT of guys and contributed greatly to the hate parade. And yet nobody is talking about it in the media. Bioware can save itself a LOT of grief by including a few Yennefers (strong, powerful AND beautiful) in their next game, or even just one. We are all afraid to talk about this because we are afraid of being branded misogynists, but ignoring the issue won't help Bioware in the long run. www.vg247.com/2017/08/02/mass-effect-andromeda-had-its-problems-but-bioware-montreal-really-deserved-another-chance-to-get-it-right/If this truly troubles you -then all the more reason to get the PC version. Sometimes mods come out that make such options available. Be it an actual romance mod or a mod that changes appearance -that are then combined together. It happened for DAI and it is beginning to happen with ME:A -the latter type of mod being first there though. ... Or you can just be like me and not care one way or another: #Viva La Asexuality

There are at least mods that try and"fix" it -if I am understanding you. Again subtle appearance don't bother me just the when it conflicts with system do I care -Cora two blend hair -thank heavens for modders. You can make a custom that looks like the default but functions more realistically -if that is the issue.

For Inquisition you cannot change the facial structure at all. So modders can redo the textures, the hair color, etc, but the overall look of the character doesn't change. Her broad flat nose, blender hair cut, and ginormous mouth are all there to stay. And can't fix the borderline mental retardation that is her dialog.

Well as I said there is a way to make a custom Sara that looks like the default but better facial motion. Have you even run the game in version 1.09? If not then it is even mute to complain since you are complaining about something that is months out of date.

Only the second time I think a Bioware character name has been reused... so not that bad of a mistake. Still... media.giphy.com/media/XTJACShBsxPws/giphy.gif

I guess I don't understand the argument here. Straight men think all sorts of things are attractive. Having a 'classically' beautiful character is only going to appeal to straight male gamers who like that kind of look. So no, dude. Cassandra and Sera - Sera who they can't even romance unless they're playing a girl, are you sure you didn't mean Josephine? - have nothing to do with people's issues towards MEA.
Also, JMO, but Miranda's only pretty because the game went out of its way to tell you she was. From her face model to what happened in game, something definitely got lost in translation.

Miranda had the face of an attractive pig, lol, with big breasts and a catsuit 2 sizes too small. I've said before that I'm surprised she didn't have a couple of holes in the suit to finish off the look.

People like eye-candy, both men and women. That's a fact that is never going to change. But the media seems to pretend its not a factor in people's purchases. I don't think the "media" at large ignores it (unless you meant specifically gaming news media?). Hollywood, TV, advertisers, fashion industries, PR people, etc. certainly don't ignore it. Most game developers don't either. They know that, as you said, people like their eye candy. As to why Bioware in particular seems to reject this basic human reaction/desire, I dunno. I assume it has to do with some ideological preferences of someone up the chain of decision making. Really hope they get a clue before their next game comes out.

I forget.... was the problem with Sera supposed to be that she was unattractive, or that she was attractive and straight male Inquisitors couldn't get with her? I have trouble keeping the nonsense straight. It's not nonsensical to ask for attractive love interests in a fantasy game that is not meant to reflect reality. When you read a book, do you imagine the characters as ugly as possible to make a political statement? Why aren't all those women on Game of Thrones less attractive? The only problem here is that you and some of the game designers seem to think making a political statement is more important than making a fantasy story most people want to see. I'm happy the game represents different sexualities and lifestyles. But I'm not thrilled about logging into my fantasy world and seeing the same ugly faces I see every day at work. That's not why I, or anyone else plays games like these. But that's a point most people like you who want to leap at political buzz phrases seem to ignore. I suppose in your mind if someone is asking for attractive characters, it means he's a gay hating, misogynist, republican who lives in his mom's basement in the deep south of Texas...
