Dark, tall and handsome. Mysterious eyes, jet-black and veiled. Black sable hair. Wiry frame. Artist's hands. And dat low, deceptively soft voice... The position of power and true competence.
How am I doing?
There's a reason that's cliche. It may be ridiculous to you, but consider the lowest common denominator. Consider how rich the Twilight author is. Yes, I agree, BioWare needs to replace Liam with a guy who looks like Bruce Lee, voiced by Bao Dur's VA. Keanu Reeves look alike will also do. Chop-chop.Andromeda will fly off the shelves.

I surmised that the countries that practice backward spirituality want their women dressed, while the liberated Westernized countries are into Ferengi-like progressive view that powerful women must show off their boobs to men without fear since the moment they were born till they die happy to prove they are real beautiful. Or they cut hair off warrior women in those backward religious countries without the benefit of the electric bulb making their faces unappealing to the poetic Westerners. The world would be a better place without religion. I'll leave it at that. I made my point in a previous post. That was off topic

As long as the treatment of sexualization, objectification and dress code is equally distributed between the two genders, there is a variety of appearances and the outfits are appropriate to the character's role and creative, I am happy. In LI department I prefer appearance customization options for companions like in SWTOR, and I am for once satisfied by the variety of cc for my PC in Andromeda, as no previous BioWare game allowed me to create my ultimate awesomly drop dead gorgeous leads, and Andromeda did. I like how Cora looks, but I would have given her black customization personally in my game, and Asian to Liam. I'd grind like a slave in a grind mine to get customizations I liked, just like I did in SWTOR. I don't like the idea of canon looks only for the companions because it is an SP game, and I can't care less if some guy has Lady Godiva as his Cora and some other girl - a Liam looking like Arnold. The last thing I want to play is another Caucasian lead romancing a Caucasian.

Don't you girl gamers want more hot guys in games?
You girl gamers need to reach out to the radical/marxist/anarchist sex negative feminists at Bioware and try to convince them to add more hot guys & hot women to Bioware games. Convince them to not tear down the patriarchy and instead work with us guys. You girl gamers have a lot of power right now based upon the political tide.
DEMAND HOT GUYS & HOT WOMEN IN GAMES, SAVE ME FROM THE HELL OF UGLY FACES. PLEASE, I BEG YOU. SHOW MERCY!
I'll even vote for the Democrats in 2020 if you can convince Bioware to put some super hot, tall buxom blondes in the next Bioware game with breast & butt physics, but they have to have a super hot face (.. AND PLEASE NO LESBIAN HAIRCUT, DON'T DO THAT TO ME!).

Yes. This debate is tedious. Google Scholar (not regular Google) Universal Beauty Standards. You'll find that DESPITE LOTS OF VARIATION, there are indeed general, universal beauty standards. BTW. We should all use Google Scholar when checking controversial gender-related facts like this. Although science isn't perfect, it's all we've got. Relying on Salon.com and Breitbart is just asking to be indoctrinated. (Although Salon is probably more reliable) >Salon >Reliable

That was in direct response to rhetorical question if anybody can possibly not think they are not gorgeous. Just shows that tastes differ. I also do not find Geralt attractive, and he is the only look of the protagonist. If I am playing him, even if he were attractive to me personally, I'd see no other male whose look, attitude, capability and demeanour is created to be attractive/tiltilating rather than be a comic relief or a supplicant. He does not even get a sexed up grand opponent/rival. ah well. Somebody raised their hand to the questioned ask: " who could in all honesty disagree that Yen is beautiful" Raised Hand Hermoine. And you said "Yes, me too" <shrug> I was trying to be lighthearted here. But yes the point is beauty is in the eye of the beholder, the devs, artists, players. How can you not find find Geralt Handsome? (heh - I am being silly). How about Iorveth the handsome elf or Aryan La Valetter from W2? How about Shanni she was cute. Sabrina Glevissig, Corinna, Keira, Dandelion, Lambert? Oh I know Olgierd Von Everec now that is handsome man. I guess I find a lot of attractive characters in TW and BioWare games and I guess other games too. To each his own I suppose. Well, Iorveth looks Okay, but I assume he is one-eyed; Aaryan - no, way too soft and plump. Shanni - no, the same scary drawn predatory look; Glevissiq and Keira - ouch, ugly as sins, just eww; Corinna - does not come up on search; Dandelion - a fop/comic relief written all over him; Lambert - one of those old ugly dudes; Olgierd Von Everec is another old ugly dude. I've liked how Atton, Bishop, Sagacious Zu, Kai Leng and Anders looked (despite the graphics), Dorian without mustache, and Blackwall w/o beard, Solas with his skin darkened and stubble added to his scalp. Reyes is Okay as well but something is odd about his face. From the other games, Junghado in BnS, Quinn in SWTOR with Asian customization or vanilla (minus the personality). I like how Baruk looks in the new Assassin Creed. Zenith, Cytherat and Thane, but they are not humans.

Meanwhile... since our OP has yet to respond to requests for the supposed demonstration of the existence of universal beauty standards, I've done a bit of googling. I didn't find much from anything that I'd consider definitive, though I found a couple of articles published in sources that may be reasonably legit. From Smithsonian: Chins Prove There's No Such Thing Universal Beauty - discusses a Dartmouth study comparing chins from skeletal remains From BBC: The Myth of Universal Beauty - talks about an experiment performed at Johns Hopkins Carey Business School in Baltimore. The researchers used a dating website that allowed users to rate random people. After they had made up their mind, some users were shown the average score from other visitors. Although there was no “right” or “wrong” answers, the users soon learnt which types were proving more popular, and started to score other faces along similar lines. Soon, everyone’s taste had converged – their concept of beauty had shifted, just by using the website. This is despite the fact that it was completely anonymous – there was no benefit to going with the status quo.The cosmetics and fashion industries have undoubtedly made billions exploiting this taste convergence thing. It might also explain why so many models are made up and lit to look just like every other model. How boring. I guess the good news is that when someone with a different look becomes widely popular, that look will also be embraced by beauty standards. People are funny that way.

Iorveth is leader of the rebel elves, accomplished warrior, sexy as hell. I don't know Dreamer, Blackwall ewww no. Have you seen Blackwall with Beard removed? Maybe it's the contrast, lol. I was so distracted by Zu, I never really paid any attention to Sky. And it's a "no" on Corinne. It's just something in those female faces in Witcher that makes me go "ewww". Must be the makeup around the eyes, it scares me with that raccoon look. Just hungry and unpleasant.

You're the one who insists there's something out there. That article cites no research or studies, but what it actually specifies is this: The features men evolved to go for in women—youth, clear skin, a symmetrical face and body, feminine facial features, an hourglass figure—are those indicating that a woman would be a healthy, fertile candidate to pass on a man's genes....and I believe those particular traits have been mentioned in this thread before. It's pretty generic stuff, and every human female character in the games meets those standards.

It's pretty generic stuff, and every human female character in the games meets those standards. Some women are more youthful than others. Some women have more clear skin that others. Some women have more symmetry in face & body than others. Some women have more feminine features than others. Some women have more hourglass figure than others. Now ask can these qualities be measured? Some of these principles apply to men, so we're not excluded from this healthy, normal, competitive part of life.

I like how Baruk looks in the new Assassin Creed. Zenith and Thane, but they are not humans. Corinna? Oh sorry typo Corinne Tilly, minor character. What about Sky? What's wrong with one-eye? Iorveth is leader of the rebel elves, accomplished warrior, sexy as hell. I don't know Dreamer, Blackwall ewww no. Corinne Tilly is an awesome character.

This thread has gotten creepy. It was creepy since the start... And insulting too.

It was creepy since the start... And insulting too. "Creepy and insulting" should be BSN's tagline...

Just read this article. Agreed with most of it, but why doesn't anybody talk about one of the biggest reasons for all the hate: Sera and Cassandra? Hetero males who felt neglected by the opposite sex options in DAI were primed to hate MAE. Big time. When the animations turned out to be lousy, they had a good excuse to viciously attack the game. Sera wasn't an opposite sex option though, a lot of guy liked Cassandra and she wasn't the only option they had, there was also Josephine.
