My God, this video was spot on. The other ones were good but this one sums up my major problems with the game.
The tone not fitting the narrative, and the galaxy not having any themes or history other than what's in this particular story. I've said this over and over again, it just felt shallow.
I just wrote this in a thread the other day.
ME1 was a story set in a galaxy of many stories, that was just deep and intriguing. In ME:A is felt like they created the entire galaxy to fit this one story and there was nothing else.
The lack of actually being a Pathfinder and exploring. I've always said that this game didn't even need vaults, each world could have had it's own story. An indigenous non humanoid species that you could either find a symbiotic relationship with, or wipe out for example. Just go to planet, do activate vaults, do quests until the viability is high enough was just boring.
I also said that they should have had the quests tie to the colonies, and help them expand, the quests would have went hand in hand with the narrative. Then they wouldn't have been just boring fetch quests.
Video was very well done.

Realistically there was NO WAY Sam, i don't care how advanced or sophisticated he/it is could not decipher alien tech and understand how to unlock vaults.......then your mission was to make planets viable when folks from the Nexxus are happily chillin' on these planets for awhile now while the vaults are not activated?........and again points to "SAM" to fix this....SAM in this game is the SURI super deluxe 9000 XXXXL version.... I mean yes there was still some issues in some of those planets, but for the most part the folks that rebelled on the Nexus seemed to be doing fine for the most part....but while playing the game i never questioned any of this because they was just trying to tell a story and at the end of the day....Andromeda isn't a bad game....just a mediorce one.

Holy HELL, I've finally finished this final video regarding my breakdown of BioWare Montreal and Mass Effect Andromeda. Sorry for the wait, it turned out to take much longer than expected due to a combination of both real life issues and the overall complexity of this final video. I had no idea when I started making it that it would end up being basically 2 hours long. Jeeeez. Any way, I put a lot of work into this final video and I suspect the comments section will be "fun" giving all the topics explored. Any way, let me know what you think. Thanks! I was wondering what happened. +++ on the video. Very thoughtful and insightful. *thumbs up*

BossAttack gets it. He really fucking gets it.
Andromeda is boring because there's no social issues or conflicts worth a damn. It's a total safe space where interesting interpersonal conflicts don't exist. Huge ethical questions like the Genophage, AI rights, Human supremacy, or biotic prejudice either don't exist or are barely touched upon with only little player choice. That's why the SJWs ruined ME conspiracy theory never made sense to me. MEA would put a SJW to sleep since there's absolutely nothing in this game for them to defend or argue about.

Uh, unrelated, but think I had a dream last night, where this, well whatever it is, was running after me and trying to kill me.

I expected the issue of colonisers from MW vs. Andromeda inhabitants, because it could have been complex considering how vulnerable they are initially and since the angara have colonised so many planets already. But no, instead the bad colonisers were the kett who did not have much nuance in the end (perhaps in a sequel though) and there were so many opportunities for ethical discussion and concerns that were completely ignored and not even brought up.

I truthfully need to watch this series. I've already watched part one, I think. I've watched all of smudboy's Andromeda analysis stuff; of course, that was broken down into easily digestible ten-twenty minute chunks. I look at this and and gasp at how long it is.

Not to mention the incredible amounts of hand-waving just to bring this story about. How do we get to Andromeda? A Wizard Did It! Language or cultural problems? None (as demonstrated by the complete lack of ship armaments) Why are we even here? "The Milky Way is so BORING!!!" The interesting stuff, the Remnant, the Scourge, the actual ALIEN content is barely touched.

The "world" is the largest it has ever been but at the same time feels the smallest. As I said, the OT was a million different stories happening outside of the Reaper threat. Andromeda, on the other hand, is nothing but the Angara v. the boring Kett. Can you believe that I only intended these to be about 15-20 minutes?

I've said it other places, and I'm stating it here now. Triple A games are pretty much dead to me at this point. With very few exceptions. Bethesda being one, because I'm intensely interested in Starfield. Volition being the other, especially with Jim Boone (I think?) coming back to work for them. Activision, dead. Blizzard? They've been on a downhill slope ever since they got rid of Blizzard north. EA? They keep talking the talk, but their stride doesn't match their mouth. Ubisoft? Hahahahaha, yeh right. I'm fucking done. 'Till someone can manage to pop their head out of their assholes.

Its a shame that this thread isn't getting much attention. But then again, considering the nature of the videos, I am not surprised that this place isn't glamoured with the videos.

Problem is I've seen this analysis already, done better by other critics. Not much new to go through here, not much to comment on ultimately. It's kind of the same thing I've said before only stretched out over an hour or so.

Just finished parts 3 and 4, and I think he's right. All except for it being a mediocre game. BioWare is known for the writing in all their games, and should be given a lower score because of that.
That's really just a pet peeve of mine, though.
Great job on the videos.
