Hello, everyone I've finally completed the first part of a new video series I'm doing taking a complete look at MASS EFFECT: Andromeda and the developer behind it, BioWare Montreal, from their birth to their recent death. This is meant to be a through examination of the studio and the game, not some hate filled vitriolic video. An in-depth analysis of the studio and the game in order the understand why Andromeda turned out the way it did. In this first part, I discuss the studio's early formation and projects starting with the MASS EFFECT 3: Omega DLC. I figured people around here might be interested in the video so here it is. Let me know what you think. (Part I: Early Formation and the Omega DLC)(Part II: Hell in Montreal?)I'm currently in the process of editing my second part of the video series which will examine the full development timeline of Andromeda before finally getting into discussing and analyzing Andromeda itself. EDIT/FINAL UPDATE: I've finally finished the final part of this video series analyzing both BioWare Montreal and Mass Effect: Andromeda. This one took a lot longer than expected and turned out just as long of a video. Enjoy. MASS EFFECT ANDROMEDA: An End, Once and For All (Part IV) Let me know what you think.

In regards to the BioWare Montreal/Motive merger, former BioWare employee Cameron Lee wrote a bit of a eulogy for the studio on Twitter whose tweets now appear to be deleted. The gist of it was that he and a group of devs from Edmonton helped establish the studio with the intent of being as independent as possible from EA and carrying on quality that BioWare Edmonton had established. Obviously, through the convening years, that fell by the wayside.

You're a bit late to the party-- at least as far as BSN is concerned. This move as been discussed to the death on here.

Haven't watched the video yet, but I hope there is room for an intelligent conversation. I hope so too, though I suspect the greater outrage will occur once I finally get to my video discussing Andromeda and its various faults. Just finished the video and thought it was good, gave it a "like", although I liked the Omega DLC and never skip it on a ME3 run. I think the "resistance" in regards to ME:A's analysis may be that we're basically looking at 5 months of people criticising the game so most, if not all, of its faults have been reviewed and re-hashed numerous times. I really liked ME:A despite its faults and am continuing to play it right now but don't object to someone coming in with a new voice if it's indeed something new.

You're a bit late to the party-- at least as far as BSN is concerned. This move as been discussed to the death on here. Well, the video isn't about discussing the move but an analysis of the entire studio from its formation to the death. And, how it eventually relates to Andromeda. I hope so too, though I suspect the greater outrage will occur once I finally get to my video discussing Andromeda and its various faults. Just finished the video and thought it was good, gave it a "like", although I liked the Omega DLC and never skip it on a ME3 run. I really liked ME:A despite its faults and am continuing to play it right now but don't object to someone coming in with a new voice if it's indeed something new. No doubt, I wanted to do my own in-depth analysis because nothing I'd seen so far touched on all of the reasons why Andromeda was so ill-received, especially as it relates to past BioWare titles.

So far, this is a pretty good analysis of the now defunct Bioware Montreal, I think looking at how there were very few Bioware vets on the teams earlier on, that was a bit of a warning flag for me. I never got the Omega DLC, but I didn't get it for the simple reason of, I didn't care about Aria, and like you said, Omega had very little importance in the context of the story of ME3.

Just a couple of slight corrections. BioWare Edmonton had a small group created in the EA Montreal office in 2009, due to BioWare Edmonton needing help to finish ME2. This wasn't a specific attempt by EA to abuse the BioWare brand. Rather, BioWare was looking for a supplemental studio to help aid Edmonton on ME2 and DAO, as well as Austin on SWTOR. It is true that BioWare Montreal was never originally conceived to be its own standalone studio: www.gamespot.com/articles/bioware-mass-ing-montreal-devs/1100-6205477/Also, I'm assuming you've probably already read Kotaku's in-depth article about MEA's development history. On the off chance that you haven't, this would probably be a useful resource for being able to understand why MEA had such a troubling launch: kotaku.com/the-story-behind-mass-effect-andromedas-troubled-five-1795886428Regarding EA actually abusing the BioWare brand, you can see all the other studios that weren't created by BioWare, but have since been shut down: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BioWare#StructureYour commentary on Omega was very interesting. You are far more critical of it than I am, but I can see why you would have some concerns going into Andromeda. Truth be told, I don't blame the Montreal development team for Andromeda's failing as much as I blame the leadership and their failure to have a practical, working vision.

I guess the one thing I liked about Aria was that she was voiced by Carrie-Anne Moss, I.E Trinity, so that was pretty cool.

Ah, thank you for the first small correction. I did know about the other BioWare branding by EA that was shut down but chose not to mention them all for the sake of brevity. And, of course I'm quite familiar with that Kotaku article. It will be heavily cited in my next video.
